Hi
Just made reservations for The CP dinner at Biergarten Restaurant . Any reviews?

We have never eaten there before either and would love to hear some reviews.

I was just reading on the Dis site and Webmaster Pete had posted his thoughts on the CP dinner choices and he says Germany is awful, but he also said Mexio was not that great and I loved it when we went. Food was excellent. So please, any reviews from the Biergarten vets? :D

We love the Biergarten! There's quite a bit on the buffet we like and the entertainment is fun. It's one of our favorites.

We love the Biergarten too! The chicken spazle is wonderful, especially if you put that gravy on it, that sits right beside it! My ds and Dh are extremely picky eaters. They enjoyed dining there!

We avoided the Biergarten for many years because of the terrible reviews, but we decided to try it on our last trip, and we all loved it! The food was very good and the entertainment was so much fun.

I'm sorry we stayed away so long. We're going back on our next trip!

We went to Biergarten with two other families. We all left there stuffed, and smiling. The service was excellent as was the food. Entertainment was fun. We left the restaurant, found a spot right outside for illuminations, and had a first-rate seat. I don't know if I would say it is the best at the world but we thought it was quite a good choice.

Where are all these negative reviews people are referring to? I see usually good reviews...and after our experience there, I know why. Biergarten has excellent food....even for people leery of German foods. The roast pork is outstanding...and the schnitzel also a big favorite. ("Schnitzel"...chicken or veal...is just a fried cutlet. The meat is pounded (literally with a hammer before they cook it!) so it's like a very thin cutlet. Very good!)
Also, the "wursts" ...or sausages...are very good. Hard to imagine an adult or child not finding a variety of "wurst" that they didn't like. And there's a great assortment of desserts.
I think the negative reviews may more deal with the seating arrangements. As many have said before, they have very long rectangular tables pieced together...and it's possible that your family will be seated with another family at that same table. (Usually with empty chairs between parties, depending on how crowded.)
The atmosphere, after all, is supposed to be like a huge German hall where everyone's taking part in a big festival of music!
It's a fun place with very good food....I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The Biergarten is a wonderful place. IF you like that sort of food. The food is classic Barvarian fare. It is very authentic. We have eaten there several times. I think the problem is people are expecting something else. But if you like classic Barvarian food its a wonderful experience.

Biergarten is great. Be sure to go when it is fairly busy that way the buffet food gets rotated more often.

Another thumbs up for Biergarten. I love the roast pork and the red cabbage. They have a good variety of salads too, if you're looking for lighter fare - I particularly like the one made of spelt and cucumbers. Oh, and don't forget the apple struedel with vanilla sauce (I could drink that stuff). Also, if you are a beer lover, be sure to try a Spaten Optimator with your meal, you'll be hooked.

We'll be trying Biergarten for the 1st time next month! :bounce:

What's a "Spaten Optimator"?????

Thanks!

We have dined there many times over the years, even after hearing all the bad reviews.

We have yet to experience a bad meal there. My DS reallly enjoys the band, and loves going up to sing and dance. He's usually very shy about those type of things, but he has no problem participating there!

I think a lot of the complaints are because of the seating arrangements. Again, we have never had a problem with this. Our children have excellent table manners which definitely helps when you're sharing a table with strangers. I have seen people around us dining with unruly kids, and I think that detracts from the dining experience for some people.

BTW, the seating is just as it is at the real Oktoberfest in Germany, except these tables don't seat as many people.

Spaten Optimator is a dark beer, imported from Germany. It's very smooth and very good! They only sell it inside the Biergarten restaurant, though at the outside beer stand they sell the Spaten Franziskaner which (if I remember right) is a wheat beer.

The food is really good, and the CMs are quite personable and enjoy talking with you. One warning, though- the entertainment stops at 8:30 every evening. We had an 8:30 PS on our last visit, and were extremely disappointed to find the band finishing up for the night just as we sat down. I wish the CMs at the dining line had told us, as we would have made plans for dinner elsewhere. The fun of the Germany restaurant really is the entertainment!

So, make sure you don't make a late PS if you want to see the show- it's not worth the $$$ without the entertainment.

Does anyone know the hours of the band? We've always gone during dinner and it's been great. For two years in a row I asked the CM on the phone when the band was scheduled and they couldn't tell me. I'm afraid the same thing will happen again. I was thinking about doing an early dinner or late lunch. Anyone know??

I don't know, I wouldn't necessarily say it's not worth it. We think the food is wonderful, it's always hot and fresh, and the cast members are friendly. I'm not sure on the authenticity of it (part German, but not enough that my family ever cooked German ;) ), but the food is very tasty.

The one negative thing to me is the seating arrangement. If you have a party smaller than 8, you're always seated with another party or more. We've come to the conclusion that we don't mind being seated with other people, BUT it's very hard to have a conversation when everyone's up and down, up and down. Plus, anyone we've ever been seated with at Biergarten has always looked very upset that they were being seated with other people. We even had a group get up and leave the restaurant when my FH and our two friends sat down! (I didn't think we were that ugly :scared: )

Anyway, I've never understood any of the bad reviews, as we've never had a bad experience. Mexico, on the other hand...

Well, if Kathleen (Forever42) likes it, that's good enough for me! :D

We'll also be trying Biergarten for the first time as part of the CP dinner package. Looking forward to it!
