Be ready to spend about $200 and have it ALL be worth it!!

The FGMIT took my DD shopping.. picked out dress, shoes, crown, wand. Then got it ready in a special dressing room. Then they did hair and makeup followed by a photoshoot! AMAZING!! Check my trip report out later.. I'm working on adding that day right now :)

We're taking my DD to DL next month for her 6th birthday and I think I may do this too. Who do you call to book it?

Or....

If you want to budget ~ you can bring a dress from home or pre buy it.
*This* ebay seller has the same items sold in the parks for a much better price. I don't know how she does it but I won't complain ;) If she doesn't have listed what you want/need send her an ebay message - she'll list it for you when she can you just have to get it *BIN* before someone else does. DD has several dresses/costumes from her. You could look through her completed auctions to see what else she's had.

She'll still feel very much like a princess *she can change in a dressing room if you bring her dress/costume with you. We've only done the coach package, hair doo and make up ~ my DD hasn't complained.

My DD's had 3 BBB experiences - twice at DLR & once at WDW.

Her 1st visit can be "seen" *here*

2nd experience was at WDW 10/09 *we attended MNSSHP and she went as Tink ~ she wore the Disney Parks Tink costume that I pre purchased from the "ebay lady"

3rd time was this past July ~ her 7th B-day trip. She went as "new" Tink ~ I purchased the Disney Store dress/costume off ebay ~ *here's* what it looks like.

Question then.. if I want to buy a new dress for her down there, would it be cheaper to buy it first somewhere there (like the Disney store in Downtown Disney) and bring it to BBB? or not much price difference buying it right there...?

From what I've heard, it's cheaper to buy the dress anywhere but at the BBB...another Disney store in your area, Ebay, etc. I just booked the crown package for my daughter. We're taking her dress so that she can change there and not spend a fortune on their dresses, even though they are beautiful! If you can afford it, I'm sure it's awesome to go all out. But we are on a budget trip and she's thrilled with just getting her hair and makeup done :thumbsup2

I wanted to get it while we are down there, to make it more special for her. But it could be anywhere in Disneyland - doesn't have to be at the BBB...

If you buy the dress anywhere in DLR the cost will be the same *BBB isn't anymore expensive than WOD *Disney store in Downtown Disney* etc.

I would think that too..

And OP I wanted to buy it at the parks too to make it more special.. then I went to my local Disney Store and got it on clearance for 14.99, shoes for 5.99. At DL or BBB I would've paid at least a 100 for it. So since I saved money we can do something else.. we talked and we are doing Fantasmic again.

It doesn't have to be $200. We have done the $50 package for both our girls, twice. We bring their dresses from home and say that tinkerbell heard we were going and she brought them, they love this. The $50 package includes hair, makeup, nails, and a ring. Worked for us, and they loved it!

FYI- I called a couple days ago to make my daughters apt and they said they are no longer doing nails at the DL BBB. Bummer!

My DD has never had her nails painted ~ I'd rather save the $5 and paint them myself *if they do fake ones ~ I think they do at the WDW BBBs - well I heard they pop off within minutes.

They paint them, or used to I guess, with pink strawberry scented nail polish and they got to keep the nail polish. Bummer they aren't doing it anymore, my dd's really enjoyed that.

Everytime we have done it (at Dl and WDW) in the last couple years it was done with either light blue or pink polish. Not fake nails. My DD loves getting her nails painted (and you get to take both bottles home with you regardless of the color you chose) so she will be a little bummed out:)

When I made my daughter's appointment for our March visit, I was told the Crown Package includes hair, makeup and nail polish....hhhhmmm....I am glad to know that they don't do the fake nails though.

Strange. I was there yesterday and they were doing nails. Maybe they are stopping the service in the future.

Weird...like I said, I called a few days ago to make an apt for Feb 24th. And when she asked what package I wanted I said I wanted the hair/makeup/nail package. She was actually really rude and cut me off saying they don't do nails anymore. She wasn't very nice otherwise as well- told me that my daughters name was weird- no joke! fyi her name is Piper which yes is a little unusual but not totally out there!

I had been on the phone all morning with dining, reservations, pinocchios workshop, etc and then called BBB. I was a little shocked by her attitude.

Hopefully she was wrong about the nail thing:)

I can't believe she told you that your daughters name is weird! I'm really shocked!

and btw I've known several girls named Piper. I think it's an adorable name and not at all weird or out there. Maybe she heard you wrong? And thought you said something else?

Sniper? Hyper?

No but seriously, that's awful. Even if you did name your kid a weird name that's really REALLY rude to SAY that to someone! And you would expect a lot more from disney.

And with the nail thing..I'm sure they do it. I've heard of times that didn't offer it when someone showed up to their apt. But, it was because they ran out of nail polish. Not because they're not offering it anymore. So hopefully she was just wrong all over the place. Make sure you post after your trip to let us know!

We did it Sept 09 and did the full package and they never even offeded fake nails.
