Better Late than Never...WITH LOTS OF PICS **NEW 04-12 PG 14

Your children are so lucky to have such a loving and dedicated mother. I came from a broken family and while my mother didn't remarry until we were all out of the house, we always new we were loved and cherished as much as anyone with two parents. While the best she could do employment-wise was working as a waitress in a family restaraunt, she always found a way to scrape enough together for a family vacation every summer. They are our best memories of a family together. Your children will have those kind of memories, not because of going to Disney World, but because of who their mother is. They know they are loved year round and in all circumstances and will carry that with them for the rest of their lives.

Oh and it may help you to know now that whenever my family (me, wife, twin girls) start planning a trip to WDW, the first person we call is my mother to see if she wants to go with us. As a matter of fact we just asked her tonight if she was going to join us on our trip next January. So really, you are investing in future trips to WDW when they are old enough to foot the bill!! :thumbsup2

that is what I am hoping for...free trips as a senior paid for by my kids!!! With my grandchildren....
btw my dh is a twin...he loves twins...it's a twin thing I guess...

ITA...you make good memories no matter where you vacation or where you are...love is what makes good memories...

thank you for reading my lil trip report!!

Okay, now that I've gone back and read it, I just want to say that was some great writing. I sat there reading it constantly alternating between smiles and tears. You deserve everything good in life, MomofMNM.

It's no wonder your little Shorty is such a strong little woman. She gets it from her Mom.

thank you my internet buddy~~~btw how can I keep looking like I do in those pictures while at WDW in August??? Tell me your beauty secrets...plllleease!!!

so, come on now, POR is calling your name in August.....you know it is.....

how do you think the 5 of us will fit in a room??? is it going to be very cramped?? how are the busses?? I am nervous because we are always sooo late for everything that the monorail really was a blessing....

Ok too funny. I was just saying to my DD6 last night that she has to try some new rides. I wasn't pushing for Dino though. I think that one is terrifying. My ds8 loved it when he was 4 (b/c we covered his eyes through 1/2 of it), then hated it when he was 6 and is "never" going on that again. I really want her to try EE and maybe RnR and Splash Mountain. She says she too afraid to do HM again, she did it when she was 4 and I think we traumatized her. She's tall though, so no easy baby swap fast passes for us.

Loving you TR.

I will tell my girls they inspired another girl to look "cool" in Crocs...they will be thrilled....
I love my Crocs too...I have the cheapo ones...and they are blue but I LOVE them soooo much...yeah they look stupid but I never ONCE had a walking problem the whole trip...neither did my girls...they were great! You can get them wet, dirty, sandy, whatever and they dry so easily and rinse off so well...I love them!!!

thank you for reading my TR. :sunny:

Yeah! I know you are planning those ADR's. Free dining is a great thing! Last August when we were at the Poly, yeah us Poly people stick togethter, I loved eating at Ohana knowing it was free. Rack rates, I laugh in the face of bankruptcy

Loved this installment. This is a very talented group

I olnly wish he would get it together but I just do not think I can convince him to do it this trip...but I am working on it grammy!!! I already had my ADR's made for our SOG stay only now they are going to be FREE!!! WOOHOO!!! I may end up taking my own TR advice...I could make good $$ if I sold my plasma I think :lmao: We shall see where we end up, for now it is POR for a very very very good price....but who knows. Maybe I'll dance... :lmao: JK...too old for that~~!!!

Mom- You go in August, and get that free dining! But if you don't get to Disney, as much as you like, I am sure you are giving your beautiful 3 girls many, many wonderful memories by loving them as much as you clearly do. How brave you are!

thanks for your inspiration!!!

My parents always made our annual vacations a priority as well and I have beautiful lasting memories. I've just left a 10 year relationship with my DD's dad that has been dead ( the relationship, not him! ) for quite some time, but I couldn't let go. I wanted her to have the 2 parent home and was basically the only one fighting to make it work. Yada yada yada, I finally left because I wanted more for us. Now he barely calls or sees her .

That's why we are going to WDW. My baby has never been on a real vacation before, has never been on a plane, a hotel, etc. These are things that I had experienced and more by the time I was her age. When I was still with him, he always made excuses of why that particular time wasn't good to go away on vacation. Meanwhile it stretched into 8 years. Now it's just me and her and I will not make excuses. I make plans and execute them. I want her to look back at her childhood and have those same warm memories that I have of my childhood.

I can relate...take your dd to Disney and have a magical time...but remember no matter what you do or where she gets to go...the most important thing is that she has a strong and loving mother who is there for her. Being a single mother is a hard job...I applaud you.

I just wanted to say that this is such an awesome trip report! I've laughed one minute and cried the next. I'm always on the edge of my seat to see what you're going to post next :thumbsup2

Girl, I gave ya the only secret I got. Use it and use it well. ;)

BTW, your entire family is beautiful. Really.

Now, about POR. We have never stayed in AB. Just the mansions. Remember? Mansion, Baby. But I know they have a trundle bed over there that you can pull out and from everything I've read, it should be fine. Our room was fine. Not Poly fine, I'm sure. But we had plenty of room in it for the four of us and thought it was really pretty. The grounds are awesome. You'll love it there I think.

And try as I may, I cannot get DH to agree to August again. We're looking at maybe something around the end of September/beginning of October.

Again, loved the trip report. I assume that was the epilogue, to borrow ZZUB's term???? Or is there more?

Thanks for the great trip report. Your girls are adorable! We had a similar kinda non-commando, drifting from place to place kinda trip - we woke up more than once, knowing that we should hop out of bed and go, go, go.. but fell right back to sleep, feeling a tad guilty but hey we had a great time anyway. Next time I WILL be at park opening, just to see what the fuss is about :lmao: I will, I will, I will..... and yes, those event schedules they give you at the entrance, we shall use them next time! Don't tell anyone, but um, we actually missed every single show at MGM!!! :bitelip: Something about MGM, I found it impossible to get my bearings. Oh hang on, we saw the stunt show, that counts! Yay, one show in 2 full days at MGM, way to go!!!!

I wanted to tell you we stayed at POFQ last summer, 5 of us, same kinda room as POR, our youngest was in the pack 'n play, she was 1 at the time. It was fine, honestly, no problems at all. we were too excited to feel cramped. Port Orleans is a beautiful, beautiful resort, we loved it and you have all the amenities of FQ and Riverside at your disposal!!!! You can even take a horse drawn carriage ride, the girls would love it I'm sure. It's not at all like this
horse.gif
but it's the closest I've got and it's a horse dammit. :teeth:

Next time (Oct) we'll be at All Stars for 5 nights in one, yes you heard right, one little room but then we're moving to BW Villas - I'm not the least bit worried about those 5 nights at All Stars, I can't wait! I know we can do it. Good luck with your decision.... I would so kill for that free dining

Deb

Thanks....I am either doing CR south wing hopefully remodeled room OR for 500 cheaper...we may just stick with POR. Either way I know we will be fine, we are not really room type people anyway but I am nervous about crowded busses!!! How were the busses BTW???

BTW Love your horse!! :lmao:

I hear ya about MGM... we missed EVERY single show there!!! I know dh would love Indy and the Stunt Car show...we even missed fanatsmic :( good lord we are gonna need prayers and pixie dust fore August, I can tell ya that....the only thing that may save us is that we are going later in August...when some schools are back in session...but the heat is not a big deal to us...we gettin' us some of those misty fan spray bottle thingies!!! :cloud9: now how to afford airfare this year :( a lot higher than last years trip that is for sure...off to check prices again....they have risen on me 20 bucks per person which is 100 total for us :( one of us may have to walk...or be a stowaway...dd5 is pretty petite...

Sucky airfare. Good luck with that.

The buses at POFQ (which share with POR) were FANTASTIC, I mean it. I was kinda dumbfounded when I read the occasional post saying it took a long time or they had a long wait. Huh? It was terrific! Very short waits at the stop (1 to 8 mins) and very efficient smooth rides and never more than a few mins waiting to get back to the resort. The bus drivers were gents. Oh and listen, the boat ride to DTD is fabulous!!!! We moved to WL (supposedly a bigger room, it was more cramped :confused3 ) and the transportation was torturous I'll tell ya - very slooooooooowwwww. That damn boat to MK took forever. We were spoilt by efficient buses/boats at PO....

Must stay on TR topic... must stay on TR topic.... must stay on...... oh yes, I know, I wanted to say I love WDW too. Fancy that eh? :lmao: :rotfl2:

Your trip report is great. Thank you for sharing. It is making me anxious for my family's upcoming trip in June.

I stayed at POR in '04 with DH and 3 kids, ages 9, 5, & 4 at the time. I can't compare it to the POLY but it seemed like there was enough space for all of us. The kids fought over who got to sleep on the trundle bed. The grounds in the AB section are beautiful and it is very peaceful to come back to after a day in the parks. My kids also loved the boatride to DTD. The busses never seemed to be a huge issue for us, but we don't have anything to judge it against either.

I hope that you have a great trip with free dining!

thank you thank you!! For 2200 we can stay at POR w dining and tickets for 8 nights OR for the same price we can stay 5 at Poly...well...I have decided we are going to actually SAVE money this trip and go the Mod....no stoppin' me now.....I toyed with CR for awhile but I know financially this is the best option for us and personally, I would like to try different resorts so I can be a wiser Dis member...so I can share all my knowledge on my Aug TR!! :wizard:

This will prove to be a very wise choice. A longer stay will be better and you won't be disappointed in your choice. Plus more days to write about :thumbsup2

Gotta love FREE DINING!

Thanks for the great trip report. Your writing style makes me feel like I am listening to a good friend tell a story.

I'm so glad you got your free dinning!!! I too am a Poly lover, stayed there last May for the 1st time. However, this May it's a split stay with Pop and POFQ, so I can feel your pain! Don't worry, I think you'll be happy at POR, I mean, how much time do you spend in your room anyway? Besides, you wouldn't want to overdue the Poly, it wouldn't be special then!!!

I've enjoyed your report. However, your tardiness makes me nervous!!! Hurry, hurry, get to the park on time!!!! and please, please, read your map and for God's sake, DON"T MISS FANTASMIC - best show by far!!! :rotfl:

We missed it too, and we do not have a return free food trip in the works. :guilty: :guilty: Unfortunatly we are currently paying college tuition, so we can't spend it on the Poly (or even the Pop) this year. Otherwise that would be a splendid idea.

Your trip report rocks. I guess i better get to work on mine... but it is more fun to read everyone elses.

I loved your story! Thank you so much for sharing your TR and "why I go to Disney." We just returned last night and I was so glad to read another family's story of why they go. DH and I agree; we're making memories and feel sure the looks and attitudes we witnessed in our kids on this trip are as long-lasting as any other money/time we could spend on them.

I will re-read your words often; keep it up!

I am preparing myself, dh and the kids for non monorail, double beds, and bus rides...with no interior corridors. Jeeze we are spoiled I know. But the $ we are saving is just unreal and we get to have a much longer stay this time. I think w the extra $$ we will get a plus pack, see TL, DTD, Dis Quest and maybe do the GF tea that Mel HH was encouraging me to do with the girlies! I see you are a resort hopper from values to deluxe and you keep going back so it must not be that miserable :) my dd5 is excited to get a trundle bed  and they love the look of the pool at FQ and POR so I am sure we will be fine, thanks!

for some reason this computer at work will not let me cut n paste here so I will respond to others individually...thanks everyone

Thats great MOMOFMNM! You'll love your stay...you know why.....because you're in Disney World :cheer2: Really, I don't think it will be that hard of an adjustment for your girls, maybe you, but most likely they'll forget about it 20 minutes after you check in. Have a great trip!!! :thumbsup2
