Better Late than Never...WITH LOTS OF PICS **NEW 04-12 PG 14

I understand about preparing your kids. I posted a thread a few weeks ago that my kids were so unhappy not to be staying at the Poly (I got totally bashed in that post about my spoiled kids). Kids definetly like the finer things in life, which surprised me! Anyway, it's our first value resort and I'm really nervous about it, glad I'm only staying 2 nights. My eight year old son said something like there is no Disney magic without the monorail! I'm sure when we get there all will be well. We really don't spend a lot of time in the room and I think all hotels at Disney are great in there own way. I hate the double beds in the moderates, but enjoy the food courts for the kids. We were originally booked in a pool home. 4 bedrooms (King master) heated pool and spa garage converted into a game room, washer/dryer, playstation - we were sharing with my bil's family and our portion was like $640 for the week!!! After a few months of thinking about it, I just wanted to be on property. I really think I'd rather be squished into a single room and be imersed in it all (and pay alot more - now $1,187 for the 9 days). So, it could be worse I told my kids, no Poly or WL (love it there too) but at least we'll be on property!

Still loving this tr! Love your why story...I'm taking my DD to disney for some of the same reasons...I wnat her to have memories of Family vacations..even if our family is small (just me and her)..Her dad hasn't seen her since she was 4 days old....So in her little 2 year old world, he doesn't exist...So I'm spoiling her and taking her to disney in 2009....not to mention we are going to TX and MI this year..(for weddings, but still it is travel!) Your DH sounds like a wonderful person and so glad you 2 found each other!

Poly-Shmoly... you guys will have a wonderful adventure!

How could you not?!

Lovin' this. Plenty.

You rock!!!!!!

Cheers, Mel.

P.S. Do the tea!!!!! Do the tea!!!!

just letting everyone know I appreciate your feedback!

Off to make some more ADR's...Mel do I need one for the TEA? Are they gonna require my Credit Card? Can I dress for the occasion?? :lmao: jk
I got three more days to do ADR's for now that it is free dining!! YEAH I get my own steak at LeCellier!! hooraay!!! :) :cheer2:

I see lalalala has a new TR part!! Gotta catch it now

see ya!!

working on mine today!!

Thanks so much for your report. Funny, honest, AND great pics. What more could a girl ask for? Well, I could ask for larger melons....sigh....but I know you can't help with that one. I'll just enjoy yours.

I'm lovin your TR, but not because it is full of funny anecdotes detailing the Mom on a mission to have a great vacation on the DP. No, I'm lovin it because I can picture a family enjoying a family vacation with all of the ups and downs and little thoughts that fill a vacation. I can "see" the love shining through.

Now your last chapter, are they chapters? really hit home for me. You see, my DH and I do not share children, but we do have 3 from my first marriage, and one beautiful little Princess, oh I mean DGD. We also still continue to hear that the kids are not his. What a shame he did not have some of his own. Not his?????????????? Who taught my sons to be men. Who explained to my SIL that DD is a treasure, and what would happen if he ever made her or DGD cry? Who drops everything when he says he needs them on the farm. You articulated so beautifully that in some families love and commitment to one another is "thicker than blood".

Once again thank you for the pleasure that your TR has brought to me. Now we can go to the Poly also, but not for the free dining. DH cannot take time off from work, even to save money....I just had to tell him that "the girls" really wanted to stay there, and he can never say "no" to them.:goodvibes

We were just leaving our day at AK. After the Safari, it was time to go even though we missed Kali RR, the parade, Pocahontas, and a few others. We did get AK mostly done though and this was great considering we were there from only 11am to 5pm! The Lion King was a great show. I will not miss Flame Tree BBQ next trip, even though I have debated doing Tusker House instead. I think my family would be happier. Now that the free dining deal is available again for my dates (there is something to be said about going in the miserable heat, torrential rain, and hurricane season) we can do all of our ADR’s without worrying about splitting meals or reducing snacks or drinks or having to cut corners on food…oh yeah…we are saving 1,000 over the SOG stay now thanks to the free dining! Sure pays for a family of 5 with my oldest being 10 in June it now makes even more sense to get free dining! Can you imagine paying 40 bucks for a 10 yr old to eat some pizza off a buffet?? Yikes! :guilty:

Oh yeah…we were on our way outta the AK. Can I say how wonderful it was not to have to return a stroller today? It was great! We made a clean break for the bus stop to the Poly while everyone else was fiddling with their strollers, including a grandmother who was trying to get on our Poly bus with two infants, a toddler and an older child. These poor babies were spent and poor granny could not get the stroller to collapse. The people sat on the bus and were getting pretty irked. This had me questioning society. Only one man, my dh, and the female bus driver decided to help granny out with her stroller. I had a lot of sympathy for granny. I also questioned what the heck she and mama over there were thinking when they brought 4 kids under 6 to the AK in 100 degree weather, but that’s neither here nor there. I give them props for attempting it!

My dh was once again, hero of the day! He helped granny get the stroller collapsed AND carried it on the bus for her! Ain’t he sweet? He’s my McDreamy…or maybe I should say McHottie, the new Vet??? (I was going to enter something naughty about “he can play with my CAT…insert other word for cat…anytime but I KNOW I’d be EDITED big time…So I’ll just be nice.)

Clearly I can see gran over there is smitten with my hunk-o-hubby…I have to go over there and tell her to STEP OFF sista…I can throw it down if need be, right in front of all these people…I ain’t no Anniston and I will fight for my man (because mine, unlike hers, is worth it!) Gran gives me the look of death…you know that look…she is saying with her eyes “your man needs a REAL (old) woman…” as if to say, “Experienced” women are better. Well, gran may have melons but mine are bigger, higher, and are shaped more like melons than daggers... I also win because, for now, they are above my waist. With underwire.

So dh ends his love affair with Granny’s fanny.
Did I tell ya this baby had back…and I sadly do not…ok ok ok ok…now you all know my downfall. It is my lack of deriere…backside…humps if you will. For a moment I think dh was considering….
Oh never mind….I doubt it.
No people, lay off…I did not get into an altercation with a senior citizen, I wrote this for dramatic effect and comic relief…

Or did I????

Either way he decides not to abandon his family for little miss sexpot and we hop off the bus at the Poly. We have just enough time to go get dressed for OHANA tonight!

REASON #1 I am going to miss the Poly in August…DINING CHOICES, lots of them, within 15 mins…because we do not rent cars…we are too cheap…and dh doesn’t drive well at night... ok ok ok…kidding honey..LYMI!!

Urrrghhhh…..being financially responsible sucks….like whoever heard of paying CASH for a WDW vacation?? Apparently dh.
Gross.
He insists the only way we get to WDW this year is debt free…
Yeah…
Whatever…
It still sucks.
I still do not see the problem in paying for a Poly vacation til 2042. It’s like a DVC membership…only you do not own anything…you just pay off a balance. Forever. Lay off people…I got a free lei from the deal…and newspapers…Orlando Newspapers…and free coffee…AND a gorgeous, balcony-less room…
I TOLD HIM TO GET THE DISNEY VISA….but NOOOO…
Polymelonmama like credit…lots of credit…
Polydaddy don’t
Polydaddy pays bills…

look at the view DADDY.... :sad2:

100_0004.jpg

still he says NO...he likes the VALUE of POR...

I think maybe he is reading ZZUB's reports...and apparently my dh is taking it a step further...he believes he can refill the poly mug at POR this year to save even more $$$ as if free dining wasn't enough....instead of saving 1,000 dollars we can up that to 1011.99!!! AS IS OUR RIGHT!

I promise soon I will quit whining about my August trip….I just hate change and the unknown. I have to be in control at all times. The thought of a 45 min bus trip to MGM freaks me out….that leaves Polymelonmom’s family only about 7 hours of touring time because ya’ll know our schedule…and I doubt it will ever include a park opening…or lunch for that matter.

We take a VERY short walk from Fiji 2307 to Ohana…it’s right across the pretty little bridge…
“aloha” my girls say for the 100th time, times three so basically 300th time…
to the same POOR CM…I think it is cute…he doesn’t.
He finally tells them to shut up or he is going to have to tie their legs together and float them in the lagoon…
You know there ARE gators in that water…
No I’m kidding…he did not say that. He just flicked them the bird.
That CM is SOOOO ready for 2307 to be lived in by another family. The quiet kind…
The socially inept kind…
The CM’s were awesome at the Poly…even the older guy, lets call him “your pants are waaay to low and you are exposing your butt crack to my young daughters” guy… who had to climb the ladder 4 times during our stay. He had to climb into the ceiling because apparently, when they remodeled the new rooms at the Poly they forgot to wire it for ELECTRICITY…in March I don’t think it would be much of a problem. In September, if you come back to your 320-dollar a night room and it is colder outside…you got problems…big ones. Anyway he had to work on it several times during our stay but he was nice…and had a hairy butt…but nice nonetheless.

Here are some (apparently NEVER to be seen again...photos of our princesses enjoying the Poly Lobby

100_0216.jpg

Ahh yes…our lovely stroll to our, meaning MY, favorite meal of the trip…OHANA. We get to the podium and I check in. Yes, I have an ADR and so does about 200 people here tonight. It was crowded. I think I even saw Heather Locklear get rejected because she did not have an ADR…actually what I did see was SEVERAL people FREAK out at the CM’s because they were unaware that you needed to actually CALL to get a table. I even heard one lady say,
“Well we are guests of this hotel…”
hmmmm…someone did not do their homework.

Can I also say that if you did not have ADR’s for this week during free dining, I feel really bad for you? I do not feel bad enough to give you my PREMIUM (about that later) table at Ohana. The wait is long. Very long. I insist that we need a table in the back near the fire pit and we will wait for one. The kids are not all that hungry right now…we eat lunch at 2:00 anyway…so dh and I go to the bar. I get some crazy fruity drink. DH orders, get this, a mandarin and seven!!!

OMG the guy gets the most boring drink ever…why not just order a Tom Collins and call yourself Gramps for gosh sakes…better yet, why not go find granny and swap spit and dentures. GEESH…

The girls decide they want to get the party started and they start table dancing in the bar area. Those little cocktail tables next to the seats there? Yeah those. Apparently they double as stages for those who like to “entertain.” They aren’t just up there acting like kids either, no sir not my daughters. They are up there giving full renditions of anything from “Baby Got Back” to “It’s A Small World.” Complete with splits, hair flipping, boody shaking and feet stompin’.

Why did I not stop them you are asking? How can a mother let her children behave in such a manner you might wonder??

Ask the bartender. Maybe he knows.

I was about ready to join them….

But they called our names.

A very nice hostess seated us. We walked by the wonderful area where the kid’s hula hoop and dance and of course, we loose our kids. They are not worried about eating, they want to party...
we get close to the fire pit...it looks and smells wonderful!!

100_0258.jpg

We walk around and I have to wonder where she is seating us…and then we get there.

The granddaddy of all tables at Ohana…the big one. A gorgeous castle view right from our table. You can see it in the pics!

100_0260.jpg

WOW…I knew we had some pixie dust tonight…and it just got better and better…

to be continued: please join me while I teach my girls how to handle some nuts... BATTER UP!!!! (with brooms)
AND teach the whole place a thing or two 'bout hip swayin and hoola hoopin'...

food for thought:
I wonder when I actually become embarrasing to my kids?? Right now they think it's awsome that I do cartwheels, fart, and spray silly string out my nose...

I hope they find me as cool as I find them...sadly I know my days of coolness and popularity will end...

but I'll always have melons :teeth:

Polymelonmom -- can I call you that? -- loving your report. You're too much fun. And my dd5 likes your girls. She saw me reading the report, and the pic of them eating at SciFi, and wanted to know, first, if that was her. Then she noted that one of your dd's looks like her (ok, sure, you're both blonde...) and another looks like her cousin Julian (who, for the record is a very cute little guy with longish-for-a-boy blond hair. It's a compliment).

Cheers!

Now, don't be jealous, you got to go there first. AKL will never be the same after our visit, and I think that the Poly will be the next to ban us. You see, our arrival was something like "The Clampetts Do Disney" and I'm afraid it will not get better the next time around. :confused3

jk Nancy!!! Please have agreat time and I love hearing stories about your family!!! Now just one question...
does your husband like melons??? ;) :teeth:

I love talking about my family, even if they are a bit odd. I manage to make every trip report about them, because I somehow seem to join all of the trip. BTW, yours was the most fun. I'm so glad I came along.

Now to your question, Why, yes he does. :cheer2::cheer2:The only problem is that he is drop dead gorgeous, and I'm talking 6'5" 50 inch shoulders, with a smile to melt your... never mind....But we are still traveling with the entire family. What we do for the kids......

This is the DIS, not the coffee shop! Wrists only here!

STEEEEEVE!!!! In the mood for a mocha latte with whip??? Or are you a straight up black....or do you like yours with sugar???

Uh OH...very OT...

I meant coffee in your refillable mug at WDW of course ;)

BTW, another great chapter. Your husband demonstrated again what a good guy he is. I can't believe people were grumbling about granny instead of getting up and helping. I am one of the helpers, but the last few trips I have been helping the guys with the strollers while their wife runs off to get her place at the front of whichever lines she's got her eyes set on. It also amazes me how many men can sit on the buses in WDW while women and children are standing in the aisles of the buses.
