August trip--day three
Cast--Liz(me), Jason(DH), Neth(DS10), Brenne(DD4)
Friday August 15
Today is the day! Big surprise for Brenne. I had planned this day for months now, with her big brother in on the surprise. I set the alarm for 6:30, so we would have plenty of time to get ready and be at Magic Kingdom by 8. I get ready, Jas does too. Then we try, TRY, and wake the kids. They aren't having it. It is 7:30 and they aren't budging. I even try spilling the beans, thinking that will motivate Brenne, but no. She could care less. It is too early. I finally get them going, but they are grumpy. And neither one wants to brush their teeth. We make it out the door at 7:50 and it is even hotter and more humid than it was yesterday. You can feel the humidity sticking to you. Yuck!!!! Not how I want to feel when I am going to meet the Princesses!!!!!!! Yes, that is right. We are having breakfast with the Princesses. In the castle. We get to the van to grab the sunglasses and realize I forgot the autograph books, so Jas and Neth run back to the room to get them. Once they are back down, we walk on over to MK. This morning, in this thick humidity, it feels like it takes forever for the five minute walk over.
We pass through security and I wave Jason over to the PS area for those who have Breakfast Priority Seatings in the park, since the park is not officially open. I don't know why they even have this set up, because they are not checking anyone's PS number off the little clipboard. They just ask "Are you having breakfast?" Anyone who says "Yes", they allowed through!
Now I reveal one of the reasons I wanted to do this breakfast. To get into the park before anyone else and get pictures with basically no one in the background! Silly, huh? Jason rolls his eyes at me. We stroll down Main Street as CMs straighten up from some event. Not sure what all the ropes were for. I didn't ask. Wonderful smells are coming from the confectionary and the bakery!!!!!! Let's skip breakfast and have a caramel apple.....
Nah. On to the castle. We stop and I take a few pictures, Jason again rolls his eyes. The family in front of us doesn't have PS until 10:00! and they still let them into the park. It is only 8:15. They are told they will be seated anyways.....kind of makes me wonder why I got up at 6:30am exactly 60 days ago.
We are told to go upstairs. We walk through Cinderella's throne room and up the spiral staircase. Brenne sees a stained glass picture of Cindy and has her pic done by it. We enter the dining room and are seated, being called "Lords and Ladies." Our server comes to the table and takes our drink order, brings a carafe of orange juice, bowl of fresh fruit, basket of muffins, danish and croissant. She also brings fresh strawberry yogurt with granola, then asks which meal we would like-traditional or healthy. We both take traditional. The kids get a plate of eggs, bacon, french toast sticks. We get eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown gratin, stuffed french toast. Jason eats everything on the plate. I eat about half. It is a lot of food, and the french toast is very rich. It is a cheese danish battered and cooked like french toast. Neth eats pretty well. Brenne however, is in a state of shock. I decide that we should have prepared her and not surprised her with this. As soon as she sees the princesses across the room she loses it and crawls onto daddy's lap. She is both excited and scared. When Mary Poppins comes to the table, she looks like she wants to crawl under it. And all Neth does is giggle. The characters were all very understanding though. Mary Poppins spreads the word that we have a giggler, so when Princess Aurora comes by, she teases him. Then Cinderella! She really lets him have it. He gets really embarrassed when she signs her name with a heart. Finally Belle. Belle got Brenne to come out of her shell. She complimented Brenne on her dress, asked where she got it. (Mommy made it special!). Then she asked if it twirled nicely. Well, Brenne loves to twirl. So she and Belle twirled together. Very sweet. And Belle remembered to tease Neth too. This was a lot of fun. Hopefully next time, Brenne won't be so scared. As we left, Snow White and the Fairy Godmother were in the throne room, but it was packed like sardines. We could barely squeeze out. I know all those people didn't have PS for breakfast, because it is a small restaurant!
I enjoyed the meal and princess interaction, but am still debating if it is worth it to wake up so darn early and jump through hoops to get a ressie.
