August 16 Saturday
The plan for today was to go to Animal Kingdom for half the day, but with Jimmie expected around noontime, we decide to scrap the idea. I will say that I was disappointed in having to change our plans.
Instead, we let Brenne sleep in, and I stay in the room with her. Jason takes Neth out in a Watermouse. They are having fun out on the water until Jason gets stung in the face by a bee. So they decide to come in. Jas refuses to go to first aid and instead mopes around the room whining. (Why won't he just go to first aid?????? Is it a guy thing????) He decides to lie down, so I take the kids out of the room while he rests. We go walking around the resort, outside by the pool, inside looking at sculpture. Near lunchtime we get Jas and head to the Food and Fun center to grab some quickie food. Jason has a turkey deli sub, the kids split an order of chicken strips and fries, and I have chili cheese fries (which are pretty good, for counter service). I get the kids each a Mickey cupcake, but Neth only eats the icing on his and Brenne only eats half. But hey, at least she eats something finally! We go back to the room and housekeeping is there, so I take the kids to go walk around some more. Jas goes on in and lies down.
We go to the lobby to wait for Jimmie. Things aren't too busy here, the furniture is comfortable, so we spread out and relax. Neth finds a pressed penny under the chaise lounge, its from Animal Kingdom. He is excited, like he found buried treasure. We wait for about twenty minutes and Jimmie finally gets there. The kids jump up and run to give him a hug! We walk him towards the back of the lobby, out the back and to the covered walkway which leads to the Garden Wings. Housekeeping is still working on our room, but is almost done. We set Jimmies luggage in the room, he is hungry so we go back to the Food and Fun Center. After he eats we go back to our room, Jason is complaining about his face. I suggest that he at least take some tylenol. He is in a bad mood for the rest of the day....
We hang out a bit, the kids want to swim, so we swim a bit. Then around 4:30 I suggest everyone get ready to go to Fort Wilderness, so we can go to the Campfire Sing A-Long.
We walk to the pier and catch the ferry boat to FT.Wilderness. We walk over to the Camp Store, the kids look at all the goodies. The petting farm was open, so we walked over to look at all the animals. Goats, pigs, donkeys, sheep. They have a barn there that houses all the horses for WDW events, such as carriage rides, parades, and in MK the horses that pull the trolley carts and such. Beautiful horses, belgium and percherons. I liked the donkey myself, took lots of pics of him. I felt like he was posing for the camera, he would smile every time I took a picture! Then we walk over to the Trails End Buffeteria for dinner. Good food at a bargain price. Once again Brenne did not eat a thing! The CM was kind enough to have the kitchen fix her a PB & J that we could take with us, but she didn't even eat that!
After dinner we decided to walk to the Campfire, which was a pretty decent walk.
We get to the campfire and Jason buys smores fixin's from a cart (even though I brought our own, which he didn't realize, so we had more than plenty!). He got mad at me because I commented on the amount of marshmallows we now had, and we didn't talk the rest of the evening.
The kids and Jimmie get to work toasting their marshmallows, Brenne burns hers and decides it is un-edible. Neth burns a few too. They enjoy making smores, Brenne winds up with a good bit of marshmallow in her hair! As soon as the sun sets, a singer emerges into the audience singing Disney tunes and camp favorites. She is very good, playing guitar and getting the audience involved. She has the campground winners of the weekly talent competition come up to perform, which was very cute. Then, what everyone is really waiting for..........Chip and Dale!!!! They circulate in the audience to dance and take pictures. We only get to see Chip before we leave though. It was very crowded the night we were there.
The movie being shown that night was Lilo and Stitch, but the kids were tired, plus a storm was rumbling in the distance. So we decided to pack it in.
We walked to a bus stop and only waited a few minutes before being picked up.
We get back to the room, and surprise! Everyone is awake and wants to swim. Neth lost swimming privelages (don't remember why) and pouts. We get ready and head to the pool, Neth falls asleep on a lounge chair. We are in the swimming pool for a long time. It is near midnight when finally I say that we should get the kids into bed. Brenne doesn't really want to get out though.
Up to the room, and I start packing up some of our stuff so there is less to do tomorrow.
There is a message from mom and dad that they are already in Orlando....We didn't expect them until tomorrow afternoon. My mom seems to think it will be fine if the three of them join us in our room! She says "we can make it work." I refuse and they call back to say they are in some cheap motel somewhere in Orlando. Could you imagine 8 people in a Garden Wing room?
We will meet up in the morning. I set the alarm for 9:00 and it is off to sleep.............
