Better deal or use year? Which is better

Thanks everyone, I cancelled my offer for the March use year. Sounds like everyone was in agreement that having multiple memberships is not a good idea unless used for a specific purpose and not just to get a few dollars off the points.

Signed the February contract today at a few dollars more.

Probably well worth the few extra dollars at purchase.

I am looking at adding a couple resale contracts (pvb and ccv) to purchase.

I have looked at the pros and cons of having different use years, but wanted to ask those that have multiple contracts their thoughts on use years. Does it really make a difference?

In the perfect world the best contract would be the same use year, but would the use year really matter if the resale contract was a better value at purchase?

For example, if February was your current use year which contract is more valuable to you:

Both same resort 100 pts at same price

1. February use year, 100 pts in 25, 100 pts in 26

2. March use year, 200 pts in 25, 100 pts in 26
Two UYs is not a big deal. I think the problem comes when you have a bunch and every other or every third month you need to remember about banking. It's also a problem if you're contracts are so small, you need to continually need to transfer points to make reservations. That's a problem, IMO, for 50 point contracts, less so for 100 point contracts.

Unless you needed extra points now, I'd contact the FEB UY broker and say, I'm interested and have a FEB UY, but there's this other MAR UY contract with 100 banked points. Each point, as a rental, is worth "around" $20, give or take. Would the FEB UY consider a discount of, say, $15PP on their contract.

I just received an email that if I add my son’s name to the new contract (which I wanted to do for future) it will create a new member number no matter what use year. ugh
Yes, that's true - unless you add him to all of your existing contracts before you buy the new contract.

Remember, different owners, i.e., [you] vs. [you plus your son] = different memberships. And also, different UY = different memberships. And having different memberships means that when using the points to book DVC resort reservations, it's as if you are two different people, and it makes combining points from separate contracts to book a single reservation more complicated.
