Best....Worst Waiter?

just a guess but some servers think that if you are already having the tip included, they'll give you 15% service. they're mind set is.. if im not going to get anything higher they won't do the work. i mean, they are automatically guarenteed a tip and aren't going to get anymore than that.

Serving people is hard work. Yes, the servers choose this job, but believe me, servers get abused sometimes. They earn every cent that they make. I wait tables as a side job, and the treatment I receive sometimes is deplorable. At the restaurant where I work, I have the option to add a 15% gratuity to a table of 6 or more guests. Most of the time I do NOT add the tip. There have been times when the gamble has not paid off. For example, I remember a party I waited on that had 10 adults and 5 children. Bill came to roughly $200 or so. Can you believe that I got $10 and a glowing comment card?

Everyone has bad days. Most servers enjoy what they do, but sometimes everything goes wrong. Cut them a little slack and remember that you're on vacation!

Our waitress at Captain Jack's was a "rhymes with Stitch".... :rotfl:
very cold and fake. Plus the food was nothing to write home about. So, we won't be back there any time soon

Service at Tony's has always been good IMO. I wish I could remember our last server's name when we went in Jan '06... but she was French I think, and so sweet!!!

Most of my best servers have been at Epcot. I find the servers that are here for a short stay are friendly and very out going.

Rose and Crown-2 great servers-others average

San Angel Inn-1 great servers-others average

50 Prime Time-1 great (Carlos) server-others average, one wacky

Ohana's-1 average, 2 awful

Artist Point-1 average, 1 the all time worst. We were there on a quite night, took our order, never saw anyone until our order came, never saw anyone until our bill came. As bad as the service was the food was outstanding. Yes we will return and hope for a different server.

Over all most of the servers do not leave an impression, you leave and can't remember them. These are a few I've remembered. Probably because they were so good, or they were so bad. I do not like leaving names maybe I caught them on a bad night.

What I do remember is the food.

For the most part we've had great servers, especially at Rose & Crown and Ohana's. Had a great waiter at LeCellier this past month but I can't remember his name. He was very sweet and would update us on our food (12 minutes till your meal comes out) it was very cute.

The worst was Tollie at CRT. I feel I have to mention him by name because he actually insulted me! Bad day or not, don't catch an attitude. He barely had "time" to refill our drinks or the serving plate. He plopped the check on the table halfway through the meal and then to top it all off...here's where the insult chimes in. I had paid the deposit beforehand and when he gave us the bill he charged us as if I never paid. We asked him why and he said that we should pay it then they would refund the price after we pay ( why did it have to be re-charged). Well I looked annoyed/confused and was about to say what I just wrote and he said "you're not all there, are you??" Uhmm, excuse me?

I said - "Yes, I am but your tip won't be" He thought I was kidding, he re-explained and then said "You got it now?" He didn't learn...
We complained to a manager and at Guest Relations. At the end of our trip we went back for lunch and asked not to be seated at his section. The hostess told us there's no Tollie working here. I believe we weren't the first complaint. I'm assuming they transfered him to another restaurant.

I coulda swore our waiter at Chefs de France had been drinking. Either that or he was very sleepy. :rotfl2: He kept trying to get us to have wine. Every five seconds it was "Would you like some wine?" "How about some wine?" "Wine?" ... He was quite a character.

Hands down, Thomas at The Yachstmen Steakhouse!
Amen, sister! Thomas took care of us on our trip last December, and he was wonderful. Very, very friendly and beyond competent. Arguably the best waiter I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with on property.
We've also gotten exceptional service from Becky at Artist Point and David (aka "Teddy") at CRT (this was back when regular meals were served).
A side note about David... When we sat down for our CRT lunch in 2003, DH (then DBF), took one look at him and said, "I remember that guy! He was our waiter at the Poly when I was a kid!" Sure enough, 20-odd years earlier, David was known as Teddy (there was another David on staff there, so he elected to go with a diminutive based on his surname) and worked at the Poly. He remembered DH's family upon a description, and the fact that my DSis-I-L had a MASSIVE crush on him over the week they were in his acquaintance. Guess she made quite an impression. :rotfl:
My lone bad experience with waitstaff came that same trip. We had the ditziest of ditzy blondes at Tony's one day. Her name escapes me, but she was just flat-out bad...
Bon appetit, everyone,

Maybe i should have clairified myself. i have been a full time server for the past 5 years. i know i get horrible tips too. i actually had to get out of serving and get a 9-5 job with a bank because i can't stand waiting tables anymore. my first day of my new job is today!!! trust me i have my gripes. please don't get me started on the philadelphia eagles football players ( minus Jon Runyan.. the only one who can actually tip more than 2% :rotfl2: ) i am lucky because at the restaurant where i work ( one day a week until my paycheck from the bank kicks in.. c'mon 3 week waiting period!!!) we don't have to add gratuity. i had a big party of 17 come in and in the end, they asked if anything was included and i replied no. they left me 70 bucks. but believe me. i've see servers in other restaurants have the i don't have to do anything mentality because gratuity is already included. we had one lady who wanted to bring her daughters birthday party to my restaurant ( because our restaurant screams please bring your 4 year old to a mexican restaurant for her birthday just to order chicken fingers...) she faxed all 15 kids meals and 4 adult entrees to the restaurant in advance and INCLUDED 15% gratuity. now, keep in mind that this party is 15 4-5 year old kids and 4 adults. all that running. and that mess from the dough we give them, the chips, refill of kids cups, mess on the floor, not to mention the fact that 3/4 of their bill was 3.99 kids chicken fingers and hambergers...when i saw that fax i said to the manager, " she only included 15% for all that work? and you know what my manager replied? " then she'll only get 15% service. "

hmm.. the worst service i ever had was in RFC. this wasn't a WDW location, but if you want consistancy from a restaurant chain... My boyfriend and i have been to RCF in Atlantic City, NJ many times. we go to Trump Plaza to gamble because they have a RFC there. Eventhough the chain is sub par food, its better than most of the food in the casino itself. Anyways, on one particular time, we had a server named Grant. He had a trainee named Ian who was the greatest server i've ever had. too bad we couldn't tip him. we actually tried but Grant was watching him like a hawk, so he couldn't take our tip. I normally order the same thing every time we go, the Monsoon Grill, but i decided i wanted a salad instead. so i ordered a buffalo chicken salad, minus tomatoes. ( im allergic to fresh tomatoes.. but not cooked ones, weird, huh??) so when the food came out, it had tomatoes on it. I had taken a bit out of my bread that was on the plate. Grant came over to check on us and i told him about the tomatoes. he apologized and promised a WHOLE NEW SALAD with new everything. the salad came back out and it was clear that he had just scooped up the top of the salad and then tried to fix it and cover it up. plus, my partially biten bread was still on top of the salad!!! on top of that, at some point in the meal, he actually called me babe AND tried to hit on me in front of my boyfriend!!! my boyfriend and i couldn't believe it! when we were leaving i went to tell a manager aboute everything and to compliment our trainee Ian on his good job. all the manager said was, " wow. the trainee was better than the server! how funny is that!" i didn't even get an apology about the food or for the fact that our server tried to treat me like a piece of meat. :rolleyes2 :furious: needless to say, if we go back, we ask for Ian.. he was great! and if he isn't working we don't go. because now we are scared we might get Grant again.

Best was "BULLFROG" at WCC...we had a fantastic time!!!

Worst service was some guy at Hollywood & Vine...I don't think we ever found out his name.
