We have been to Panama twice...gulf is always cold then. Willing to drive farther down gulf but want the nice white sand beaches. Any recommendations. I looked at Siesta Key but it appears you have to cross street most places to get to beach...prefer not having to do that.

What is your favorite gulf side beach that is not a huge party atmosphere for spring break

BTW ....thanks!

Miami beeessshhh main, almost as white of sand as destin, but it will be warm, destin won't be very warm, probably not enough to swim. Water is similar too, very clear emerald green.

Warm water for spring break...that's the kicker.

The beaches of Northwest Florida are incredible...Pensacola Beach, Destin, Grayton Beach...but you never know what the weather will be like in the spring...it all depends on if a cold front has come through.

The water will be borderline cool...but it's the wind that can make it cold.

Even us natives get beach fever every spring...but you quickly learn...it may be very pleasant at home...but drive 15 miles to the beach...and you'll freeze out there due to the wind.

Not sure where you'll be coming from, so what you would consider "warm" is probably different that what I would consider "warm".

Hope this helps.

I personally love Siesta Key near Sarasota, FL. It's not as touristy as Miami, a little more casual, highly rated beach (very white). It's further South then Destin but not as far South as Miami, plus Sarasota/Siesta Key is on the Golf side, which is nice, IMO.

Fort Myers and Sanibel beaches, but I'm biased since I live there a good portion of the year. The town always seems to draw a good crowd come spring break.

I also would recommend Sanibel or Fort Myers. We go there in February and the water is too cold then, but just barely. And the sand is definitely white. Not too much of a party place either.

+1 for Sarasota :thumbsup2

Try Tropical Palms or Tropical Shores on Siesta Key. We stayed there one Thanksgiving and it was nice. Small kitchen, they allowed our small dog, heated pool AND less than 100 yards walk to the beach and you don't have to cross the street!!! I would stay there again if I had the time to get down there. And you're right the northern most beaches will be cold over spring break.

Naples or Sanibel...sometimes being just that 2 hours further south makes a big difference for a warm day
