Best Way to Get Back to Wilderness Villas after Illuminations

Need some advice on the best way to get back to the villas after Illuminations. We will take the water taxi to the Contemporary and the monorail to the park in the morning, but I am worried about the crowds leaving after Illuminations. Should we take the monorail and water taxi to get back or is the bus straight to the resort a quicker-less crowded option? Or would it be best just to drive our own car to Epcot that morning? Thanks for any suggestions!!

Are you going to breakfast at the CR in the morning? Otherwise taking the boat and the monorail is kind of the long way around. You have to take the monorail to the TTC and then from there the Epcot monorail. Its easiest to take the bus from the WL over to Epcot.
In the evening I have found that the automobile traffic after Illuminations is just as bad as the crowds on the bus.
Personally after Illuminations or Wishes etc, I take my time and get a coffee and a snack and sit and eat then shop a bit, and then go to the bus stop. By then the crowds have thined out and the wait for the buses is not bad and I always get a seat.

I'd just take the bus to EPCOT from WL, and vice versa. It's a pretty quick trip. If you feel like driving, that is quicker than the bus, but that is entirely up to you.

This business of going from place to place to avoid riding buses really eats up a lot of time, and takes a lot more effort.
