Best way to buy dvc?

Honestly sometimes I don't. A broken drawer pull that I notice on a drawer I'm not going to use is going to bring maintenance into my room - and it isn't really inconveniencing me. Yeah, it would be really nice to the next member if I had it fixed for them, but I (probably like Bill) see reporting those things to be housekeepings job - and it being maintenances job to get in their during the housekeeping period between guests to fix drawer pulls and change lightbulbs. In other words, it really isn't my issue.
IMO it's about perspective. A furniture chip, a carpet pull, a wall ding, a light out really isn't the end of the world. A non functioning appliance, water leak or tub can easily be a big deal. DVC is poor at handling these issues on the fly and they don't have a good program to collect the smaller things and get the info to those who could fix the items between guests. How many times have we read here about someone with a fairly major problem taking several days and several phone calls to take care of, often with promises that didn't pan out. As I noted, I have more experience than most in volume, years and across several brands. DVC is the ONLY one I have to worry about getting something quickly if it's not in the unit when it should be or if there's a major repair such as a fridge or stove. And it's the only one I have to to worry about the villa not having what it's supposed to have consistently. With the other 3 I'd generally have the item in hand or repaired AND a phone call to check to see it was done in the time it would take me to hear from DVC. DVC is also the only one I couldn't walk into and get the resort manager or second in command if needed. The reality is I don't worry about a lot of things whether it be maintenance or room assignments nearly as much as many here do because I understand the limitations and issues on the other side.

Yeah, if there were something big - I'd call to have it fixed. A drawer pull on a drawer I'm not going to use? A ripped curtain? No.
