Best trip ever with my 2 yr old & bf! Moved by disney from pop to deluxe!!!!

NOOO! Inquiring minds want to know what happened when Conner woke up! I'm afraid it's going to be really gross....

I'm glad y'all were able to catch the 2nd parade at MNSSHP. Note to self: we will definitely go to the party during the week & if the 1st parade is crowded, I will catch the 2nd one.

Sounds like y'all were having a good day.....until all the bugs starting showing up. Can't wait to hear more....even if I am just a little afraid of what it is. :rotfl:

Argh noooo! You just gave me the willies! I can't wait to hear about what happens next.

OMG what a way to leave us :rotfl2:

So glad your MNSSHP evening turned out positive in the end, you did get some great shots of the 2nd parade. I have to agree about maybe they do need to limit the tickets a bit more for the enjoyment of all. I am glad your DH went and voiced his opinion maybe if a few more did Disney would get the hint and cut back on the number of tickets sold for each party.

I hate bugs by the way :scared1:

Eew, I'm guessing I'm not going to like what is coming.

However, I loved the YC pictures from the last update. We are staying at the YC in March so I was thrilled to get a preview with your pictures. Thanks!

Wow great TR so far! Do you ever experience long lines at the barber shop? I hope to get my little guys first haircut there in Feb. I seen that you were there when your son was 10 months. Ours will be 7 months when we go, any advice? I'm so excited, but this will be our first trip with him so I'm not sure what to expect. I know we will have lots of breaks for feeding and likely lots of napping in the stroller or carrier. Did you take a carrier and if so what kind?

Can't wait to see how you all get your amazing upgrade, but also kind of scared because it must have been something pretty bad:scared1:.

Again loving your TR so far, cant wait to read more :)

Can we guess about Conner-Spider bite.

I heard Disney wants to do fast pass for parades. I really have no idea how that will work. the problem with the special events like Halloween, is the parade is the main attraction if the whole evening. People don't scatter around the park.

It was another quick ride back to POP, and we were in our room in no time. I was pulling the sheets back to get Conner in bed for his nap, and the next thing I know, there is a HUGE centipede...in the bed. UGH, can you say disgusting?! I wasn't a happy camper, but I didn't see anymore, so I made Conner get in for his nap.

After Conner had fallen asleep, JR came out of the bathroom with ANOTHER huge bug.

Ok...I told myself it was no big deal. This is Florida, and that is to be expected.

Um... remember how I said Value was better than no Disney... I think I will be saving an extra 400 to go to at least the MOD level and pray for an AP discount to go to the WL or POLY (not that bugs don't exist there too). :lmao: Bugs so aren't my thing...:scared1:

And that's when it all started....the moment we woke up from nap time and Conner was........

covered in little bug bites. :scared1:

They weren't itching or oozing, they were just little tiny bug bites. Almost like what a flea bite would look like. They weren't even raised. Either way, they were bug bites, and I was freaking out. JR immediately went to the front desk to talk to a manager. They offered to clean the room, change the bedding, and send in pest control to check for bed bugs. I've heard HORROR stories of bed bugs, some of which actually happened at POP, but they were before the renovations.

Either way, the manager seemed like he wanted to help us, and I was ok with what he was offering for the time being. He had also offered to move our room, but I didn't want to spend hours doing that unless pest control found a problem. Conner wasn't itching and he didn't seem irritated by the bites, so we decided to go into the Magic Kingdom, and try to enjoy ourselves while pest control fixed our room.

When we got to the Magic Kingdom, we walked under the train station, and parked right in front of me was the trolley they use for the Meet Me in St. Louis show on Main Street. And people were getting on it!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. Every time I have seen this trolley, it's being used for a show. Having the chance to ride it was just awesome!!

I have to say this was probably one of my favorite moments of our whole trip. The trolly drove us from the entrance all the way to the castle. And the entire ride, Conner waved to everyone on Main Street. And I do mean everyone. It was so sweet, and all of the people thought it was cute too, and waved back. I think Conner felt like he was IN a parade.

After our wonderful trolley ride, where do you think we went?

BTMRR of course lol I think we only rode it once this night before we moved on to some other rides. All together, I think we were able to get in Buzz Lightyear, POTC, and Splash Mountain. I found out they were bringing back the old spectromagic parade, so we had to start looking for a seat to watch the parade. We started all the way up near Pecos Bills (where the parade ends), and couldn't find a thing. So we literally walked the entire distance of the parade, looking for a break in the hoards of people for a seat. Nothing. Finally, we got all the way back to the front of the park, and there was still nothing. JR put Conner on his shoulders for the first few minutes of the parade, but he still couldn't see anything. Eventually, I got us all up to the train station, and we were able to see a little bit.

Overall, I was really disappointed. We barely saw anything, and it's because there were just WAY too many people in the park. I blame it on the 40th anniversary, and the fact that there were just entirely way too many people let into the park on this day. After the parade was over, we got on a bus back to POP.

On the bus ride, I noticed Conners bug bites were raised and he was starting to itch them. And I noticed that it was actually more than I had originally thought. So by now, I'm just beside myself.

The second we got back to POP, we went to find the manager JR had been speaking with earlier. His name was Sam, and he was really nice. Out of all of the people I have ever dealt with at Disney, he was by far, one of the best yet.

Sam told us that pest control hadn't found anything in our room, but I wasn't satisfied. I told him that I really wanted a new room, regardless of what pest control found. Judging by the bites on Conner's legs, there was SOMETHING in that room, whether it was bed bugs, spiders, whatever.

Conner was really tired, so I pushed him around the lobby in his stroller while JR talked to Sam.

After a few minutes, JR came and got me, and told me to come talk to Sam.

And then I heard those beautiful words:

"We are filled to capacity at POP, so I am moving you to one of our deluxe resorts.......

.....................the Polynesian"

I cried. And cried. And cried somemore. Overall, our trip had not been the worst, but between the MNSSHP, the parade at the 40th anniversary, and now the bug bites, it was time for some change. And I could not have asked for a better change. The Polynesian has been my favorite resort ever since I was a little girl, so I was just beside myself when Sam told me where he was moving us.

I gave Conner some Benadryl from the gift shop, and his itching subsided. The bites eventually went down to little red dots, but then later in our trip scabbed a TINY bit. The scabs were small, but they were enough for me to see 2 little dots where the fangs bit him. I came to the conclusion that my poor guy was attacked by a spider.

After crying and thanking Sam perfusely, we had to go pack our stuff! I think we packed in 5 or 10 minutes, and I cried on the phone to my mom the whole time. We got our stuff to the entrance at POP, and Sam gave us a voucher for our cab ride. Conner fell asleep on the way over, and within 10 or 15 minutes, we were pulling into the beautiful resort I could call home for the next few days. After a quick check in, we made our way over to the room. And my, how beautiful it was.

JR and I were in absolute heaven:cloud9: . I have some stunning pictures of the outside of the Polynesian from the next morning. I will try to post those tonight or tomorrow afternoon. We really got to enjoy our new 'home' that day. Can't wait to tell you all about it!

Wow...the polyonesion. I have always wanted to stay there too :) Sam the was the manager who helped us as well! We had gnats in our room, not a few, but a ton!! I thought we had a textured wall and when I looked closely I discovered they were gnats that were on the wall. It was so gross. When we stayed at POP it was also filled to capacity and they upgraded us to Saratoga Springs. It was beautiful! It's amazing how fast one can pack when you know you are getting bumped to a deluxe!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of your trip report!!:)

I'm sorry that Conner got bitten. I've stayed at POP and never had a problem with the rooms but I've heard some stories. What a score on the Poly! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Well this doesn't help the fact that I am hesitant about the POP...I really want to go, but bugs...ew!

The POLY is our FAVORITE!!! Hope you enjoyed it there. We just love everything about it. What a great moment at a time you needed it during your trip.:wizard:

Oh no! Poor Conner. I hope they didn't bother him too much.

I actually had goosebumps seeing the pics of him waving at everybody as you guys rode down Main Street. How adorable!! :goodvibes

OH MY GOSH! You guys got moved to the Poly?!?! How awesome!

It's so awful about the bites, thank goodness they didn't get infected...and the POLY is an awesome silver lining! The room looks awesome. How many days were left on your trip when you were moved?

:scared1: The poly?! What an amazing thing to happen on your vacation! It really is sad about Connor getting bit by bugs (eck!) but I am so happy that Sam really took care of you guys. We stayed at All Stars one time and we didn't have any issues with it but I have heard some stories about the Pop resort. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip, Poly style!

Such a great resolution to the problem.

How fantastic for Conner to be so close to the monorail and the MK.

:cool1:

Thanks for answering my questions about your stroller and the cab. I will have to add the Britax to the list of strollers to check out.

I just love the pics of Conner waving to everyone while riding on the trolley. What a sweetheart!

I would have been so upset if my boy had bug bites after waking from his nap. I'm glad the manager treated you well. The Poly upgrade is SWEET!
