Best trip ever with my 2 yr old & bf! Moved by disney from pop to deluxe!!!!

Oh poor lil Connor having been bitten like that. I did not know they still ran the Trolly letting people ride it anymore........that was so cool you guys got to ride it.
Fantastic upgrade to the Poly so glad everything turned out ok, if it was a spider that bit Connor things could have turned out so much worse, beautiful pics of the room at the Poly.

Poor little Conner with his bug bites. :sad2: But, I'm glad they made it better for y'all with the move to Poly. That is awesome! :thumbsup2

And Conner is too cute waving to everyone from the trolley! :goodvibes

That's so great they moved you to the Poly!!!!!

I would be crying too!!!! Hopefully I wont see any spiders at Pop in 44 days!!!! I hate spiders!!!! Enjoying your TR!

Oh no! Poor thing, waking up from his nap & covered in bites. Aw :(

I am so glad the manager at POP was able to make you feel comfortable about the whole situation... that's why I love Disney so much  They go above and beyond the normal customer service to make their guests feel like one in a million <3

Talk about a cliffhanger! I hope Conner was ok.

I couldn't help myself:lmao:

I've been dying to see why you were moved to SSR and from what I can tell.....it's the same reason we were too...but I'll just have to wait until tommorrow to find out for sure!!!

Sorry i never replied to this, its been a busy week!!

Ahhhh... another cliffhanger!! However, this time I think I am going to have to read with caution - - I'm afraid to know what you found!!!

lol I'm a riot, right?:lmao:

DARN THE CLIFF HANGER! I was getting so into it haha guess i'll just have to learn some patience.

Ah, sorry! I got there soon enough lol

Looking forward to reading the rest. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading!:goodvibes

NOOO! Inquiring minds want to know what happened when Conner woke up! I'm afraid it's going to be really gross....

I'm glad y'all were able to catch the 2nd parade at MNSSHP. Note to self: we will definitely go to the party during the week & if the 1st parade is crowded, I will catch the 2nd one.

Sounds like y'all were having a good day.....until all the bugs starting showing up. Can't wait to hear more....even if I am just a little afraid of what it is.

DEFINITELY go on a weekday!!!

Hope he was ok.....I can't take it anymore!!!!

lol :thumbsup2

Argh noooo! You just gave me the willies! I can't wait to hear about what happens next.

:sick:willies are no good

OMG what a way to leave us

So glad your MNSSHP evening turned out positive in the end, you did get some great shots of the 2nd parade. I have to agree about maybe they do need to limit the tickets a bit more for the enjoyment of all. I am glad your DH went and voiced his opinion maybe if a few more did Disney would get the hint and cut back on the number of tickets sold for each party.

I hate bugs by the way

I hope people keep complaining so this can STOP happening!

Eew, I'm guessing I'm not going to like what is coming.

However, I loved the YC pictures from the last update. We are staying at the YC in March so I was thrilled to get a preview with your pictures. Thanks!

Thanks! Oh, the yacht club is a stunning resort, and the pool is FABULOUS.

what a way to keep us hanging!

:lmao:

Wow great TR so far! Do you ever experience long lines at the barber shop? I hope to get my little guys first haircut there in Feb. I seen that you were there when your son was 10 months. Ours will be 7 months when we go, any advice? I'm so excited, but this will be our first trip with him so I'm not sure what to expect. I know we will have lots of breaks for feeding and likely lots of napping in the stroller or carrier. Did you take a carrier and if so what kind?

Can't wait to see how you all get your amazing upgrade, but also kind of scared because it must have been something pretty bad

Again loving your TR so far, cant wait to read more :)

Thank you! Never once have I experienced a long line in the barber shop. I think the longest we have ever waited was maybe 10 minutes tops. I love it! I didn't bring a carrier, always a stroller. And definitely expect to take lots of breaks. The best plan is to forget the plan with a baby!

Can we guess about Conner-Spider bite.

I heard Disney wants to do fast pass for parades. I really have no idea how that will work. the problem with the special events like Halloween, is the parade is the main attraction if the whole evening. People don't scatter around the park.

You guessed it right! I read about the fastpass too. They said fastpasses would be handed out, and not given by a machine. I think they are only going to run a test phase to see how it works (or doesnt work). I personally hope it does work, maybe I won't have to miss a parade again.

Loving your stories...you are an adorable family!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I'm so getting sucked in by your report. Can't wait to hear about the upgrade.

Thanks!:goodvibes

Um... remember how I said Value was better than no Disney... I think I will be saving an extra 400 to go to at least the MOD level and pray for an AP discount to go to the WL or POLY (not that bugs don't exist there too). :lmao: Bugs so aren't my thing...:scared1:

Don't let my experience scare you too much. This is the second time I have stayed at POP, and the first time was fine.

Wow...the polyonesion. I have always wanted to stay there too :) Sam the was the manager who helped us as well! We had gnats in our room, not a few, but a ton!! I thought we had a textured wall and when I looked closely I discovered they were gnats that were on the wall. It was so gross. When we stayed at POP it was also filled to capacity and they upgraded us to Saratoga Springs. It was beautiful! It's amazing how fast one can pack when you know you are getting bumped to a deluxe!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of your trip report!!:)

I really liked Sam. Thats awesome that you were upgraded as well. How did you like the location of SSR? Would you stay there again?

I'm sorry that Conner got bitten. I've stayed at POP and never had a problem with the rooms but I've heard some stories. What a score on the Poly! I can't wait to hear all about it.

I've stayed there before as well, and didn't have a problem. But yes, WHAT A SCORE ON THE POLY! I was so in heaven:cloud9:

Well this doesn't help the fact that I am hesitant about the POP...I really want to go, but bugs...ew!

Sorry:sad2: I'm sure it doesn't make a tough decision any easier. But again, remember that this probably doesn't happen too often. And bugs can honestly be anywhere...at any hotel in FL.

The POLY is our FAVORITE!!! Hope you enjoyed it there. We just love everything about it. What a great moment at a time you needed it during your trip.:wizard:

It's my favorite too!! Gosh, I enjoyed it so much. JR said he doesnt want to go back to Disney until we can afford to stay at Poly. Good luck with that one JR :lmao:

Oh no! Poor Conner. I hope they didn't bother him too much.

I actually had goosebumps seeing the pics of him waving at everybody as you guys rode down Main Street. How adorable!! :goodvibes

OH MY GOSH! You guys got moved to the Poly?!?! How awesome!

he was too funny on that trolley, I loved every second!

Poly was to die for :lovestruc

It's so awful about the bites, thank goodness they didn't get infected...and the POLY is an awesome silver lining! The room looks awesome. How many days were left on your trip when you were moved?

3 nights! So it was halfway through our trip, and of course I would have rather it been sooner, but I can't complain!

The poly?! What an amazing thing to happen on your vacation! It really is sad about Connor getting bit by bugs (eck!) but I am so happy that Sam really took care of you guys. We stayed at All Stars one time and we didn't have any issues with it but I have heard some stories about the Pop resort. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip, Poly style!

Poly style is the best way to do it!

Such a great resolution to the problem.

How fantastic for Conner to be so close to the monorail and the MK.

OMG that was one of the best parts of staying at POLY. Other than the fact that its beautiful, but the location is just perfect! And I LOVED having the convenience of the monorail.

Thanks for answering my questions about your stroller and the cab. I will have to add the Britax to the list of strollers to check out.

I just love the pics of Conner waving to everyone while riding on the trolley. What a sweetheart!

I would have been so upset if my boy had bug bites after waking from his nap. I'm glad the manager treated you well. The Poly upgrade is SWEET!

Thanks! It was SO SWEET!

The trolley was so awesome! And the upgrade was beyond fantastic!

Poor little Conner with his bug bites. But, I'm glad they made it better for y'all with the move to Poly. That is awesome!
And Conner is too cute waving to everyone from the trolley!

Thanks!:goodvibes

I love it! Not the bug part but you know!!

lol same here!

That's so great they moved you to the Poly!!!!!

I would be crying too!!!! Hopefully I wont see any spiders at Pop in 44 days!!!! I hate spiders!!!! Enjoying your TR!

I think I cried the next day too lol I was so excited to stay there.

Oh no! Poor thing, waking up from his nap & covered in bites. Aw :(

I am so glad the manager at POP was able to make you feel comfortable about the whole situation... that's why I love Disney so much They go above and beyond the normal customer service to make their guests feel like one in a million <3

So so true!!

What an awesome upgrade but terrible course of events for it to happen.

Couldn't agree more:)

Great pictures of the Polynesian. I've never been there but it's on the list.

Thanks! Even if you dont stay there, I would highly suggest a meal at O'hanas or even just looking around the resort. It really is stunning.

I spent my lunch break at Conners school/daycare for his little Halloween parade, so I will get another post up tomorrow afternoon with all of my stunning Poly pics!!

How stinkin cute?!

Wow, the Polynesian…that's as good as it gets right there, from Pop to a monorail resort within walking distance of the TTC. So sorry for how it happened. I would have been fuming. I hope you enjoyed the Poly. It looks amazing. I've heard of people getting upgraded but it is usually to SSR, not the Poly…big time score.

Even with a 40% discount it is out of my reach. Maybe one day.

OMG the poly!! That is an amazing story that they upgraded you- poly is our favorite!!! Your report is helping me get through the next 10 days until our trip begins! I'm going through serious Disney withdrawals!

I've seriously got to learn to complain more, lol. When we stayed at Pop in May, a couple times I noticed these teeny tiny little baby spiders on our bed. I am used to bugs in the south, so I kill them and move on. One day dd woke up and the back of one her legs had a cluster of what looked like little bug bites. Just red, raised bumps...maybe a dozen of them.

I never said anything....I pulled all the sheets back and investigated, and couldn't find anything. i figured whatever bit her had moved on, and honestly didn't know if it happened in the bed or if they happened elsewhere and just became more obvious overnight.
Didn't know I could get a deluxe room though, lol. :rotfl:

Sunday, October 2nd:

I woke up to Conner looking around the room like, "where am I?" lol Remember, he slept through our move, so I think he was a little confused. The first thing I did was look out our window...or porch if you will, and this is what I saw:

I totally skipped over what we did in between breakfast and the pool, I was just way too excited to post some Poly pics!

Anyways, we went to AK that morning!! I have to say, I'm a little dissappointed that we didn't spend more time in this park. It doesn't cater to Conner as much as MK, which is where we spent a majority of our time. Either way, I plan on spending more time in AK on our next trip.

Our first stop was the Safari ride. We grabbed some fastpasses, and headed over to Kali River Rapids to pass the time until our passes were ready. There was barely any wait for Kali, and Conner really liked it. We all wore ponchos because we are a bunch of wimps when it comes to getting soaked on rides, but it was still super fun. Conner really liked going down the hills, and bumping into the walls. He yelled every time we went under a waterfall. It was too cute:rotfl:

After KRR, we made our way back to the safari, and had a pretty good ride. I have to say, I really really wish they would put some seat belts on this darn ride. JR and I had to hold Conner down when the driver would go fast because it was SO bumpy. And since Conner isn't strapped into anything, he thinks its ok to stand and move all over the place. JR took a video of our ride with my phone, so if I can figure out how to get it on here, I'll put it up.

We walked around the park a bit, and tried to get Conner on Dinosaur, but he wasn't tall enough. This is where my frustration began with the height measurements. The requirement for Dinosaur is 40 inches. Well, Big Thunder Mountain and Splash have the EXACT same height requirement, and Conner was plenty tall enough for those rides, but for some reason, he was a good 2 inches under for Dinosaur.

I totally get that it's for his safety, but how come he is 40 inches in one park, and not in another? It's really difficult for me as the parent, because I was telling him for 15 minutes that we were going to see Dinosaurs, and then he couldn't go. I would understand if he really wasn't tall enough, but he was. Their measuring posts are so off.

After our sad discovery at Dinosaur, we got on the bus to go back to Poly. We were really excited to take Conner to the pool, and explore the resort some more, so I think that excitement is what pulled us out of AK so soon.

When we got back, thats when we had our pool time with all of the pictures I posted above. Once Conner was good and worn out, it was nap time.

I was SOOOOOOOOOO excited to wake up from nap time and take the MONORAIL to a special park. The monorail!!!! haha I was more excited that we were on the monorail line than anything. Talk about convenience with a 2 year old. Next up, more pictures of the beautiful Polynesian, Conner's first character meeting, and my favorite ride of all time...TWICE!!!

Stay tuned!

So happy to hear that Conner was okay. Super news about the move!!! We went in January and it was one of the most packed and kind of just "not Disney" trips we've ever taken. DH thinks it was because so many rides were under construction that it funneled people into the few rides open. We love Disney and hope that our trip in May will be better. I just think that the park refurb, while better in the long run, is hurting the general feel of the park now. Can't wait to read more....

Oh...your Poly pictures are too beautiful! We've only stayed in value / moderate resorts thus far -- looks like it's time we go for the upgrade! :wizard:

Okay, I know I'm joining in pretty late, but I just started on DISboards, so give me a little slack :)

How cool is that upgrade?!
I am planning our first ever family trip and thanks to a really awesome Christmas present, we are able to stay at the Poly! I kinda wanted to downgrade so we could have two rooms (parents staying a couple nights), but we will all fit and when else am I ever gonna be able to stay at the POLY?! :yay:

And I don't know much about Disney, having only been when I was real young, so I am loving your pics and descriptions. My son will be 5 when we go, so I am very very excited for him!

Can't wait to see more of your fantastic trip!

.

It really doesn't get any better than Poly. It's such a beautiful resort to begin with, but the convenience of the monorail is seriously one of the best parts. Especially for those of us with little ones, who spend a majority of our time at MK. It's out of reach for us as well, so to have the opportunity to stay there really was amazing.

Conner is adorable as Thing One! Did he love trick or treating?

Thanks! Yes, he did well this year...at least until he got tired. Then he wanted me to carry him up to every door:scared1:

OMG the poly!! That is an amazing story that they upgraded you- poly is our favorite!!! Your report is helping me get through the next 10 days until our trip begins! I'm going through serious Disney withdrawals!

It's always been my favorite, and probably always will be.

And withdrawals...at least you are close to going again!! I'm another year away lol Not to mention the fact that my mom totally psyched me out, and made me think we were going in December. She was all for it, but I don't have any vacation left, and she decided it was too expensive to go over the holidays. Fingers crossed she changes her mind! Where are you staying?

I've seriously got to learn to complain more, lol. When we stayed at Pop in May, a couple times I noticed these teeny tiny little baby spiders on our bed. Didn't know I could get a deluxe room though, lol. :rotfl:

:scared1: You should have said something!!!! I'm used to bugs here or there too, but I've read horror stories of bed bugs, so that was the first thing that came to my head.

So happy to hear that Conner was okay. Super news about the move!!! We went in January and it was one of the most packed and kind of just "not Disney" trips we've ever taken. I agree. The construction, I would hope, will enhance the park in the long run, but it's torture waiting. So much was closed, I think that was a big contributor to our MNSSHP experience. I'm not sure when the refurbs are scheduled to be finished, so you should check the refurb schedule just in case. At least you can prepare yourself instead of being disappointed when you get there.

Oh...your Poly pictures are too beautiful! We've only stayed in value / moderate resorts thus far -- looks like it's time we go for the upgrade! :wizard:

It's one heck of an upgrade. I even joked to JR that the shampoo was different. But in all seriousness, it really was lol The shampoo is a 2 in 1 at the values, and you get shampoo and conditioner bottles at the deluxe lol

Love your pics of Poly! Looks like y'all had some fun pool time!

Thanks! And yes, we did!

Okay, I know I'm joining in pretty late, but I just started on DISboards, so give me a little slack :)

You will LOVE the polynesian. Shoving everyone in one room will be well worth it in the end. If you start thinking otherwise in the middle of your trip, just start picturing the size of those value/moderate rooms!!

First family trips are so fun, I love reliving everything I enjoyed as a child through my son. It's so amazing watching him falll in love with all of my childhood memories.

our Poly pics are beautiful. I have the same problem with Dinosaur - when we went in May my daughter rode every 40 inch requirement ride except Dinosaur - she was measured 3 times in line in 3 different places throughout the que and on the last measurement at the boarding area they said she wasn't tall enough.
