We have not been to disney in the fall and are looking at going sometime between late September and mid-November. Taking all things into consideration (park hours, room rates, weather, etc) what is a good time to go? I will be homeschooling so we can go anytime w/ our ds 8, dd 5, ds 2. Already have our park tickets since our youngest will not be 3 yet.
Thanks,
Lisa C.

Park hours and room rates should be about the same for the entire period you mention. They don't begin to spike upward (prices and hours) until Thanksgiving week.

If weather is a concern, the later the better. In late-September, early-October, the temperature will still get up into the 90s with HIGH humidity. If you wait until later in October or the first part of November, the climate will be much more managable.

I would suggest Accuweather.com to check historical weather trends for the region.

We are planning our trip Nov 2 - 9, since the value season begins on Nov 2 - better room rates at that time. Disney has in the past offered a fall fantasy promo for discounts at that time, too. We've been the week before Thanksgiving in the past, the weather was mild and crowds were small. Hoping for the same in early November. Good luck!

Oops,

Tiffanie is right about the timing of Value Season. 10/2 to 11/1 is considered "Regular season", and the resort prices are about 15-20% higher than Value Season.

In this case I would definitely recommend waiting until after 11/1 to make your trip.

Tiffanie,
We went 11/1-11/8, weather was great & crowds were small although 11/7 noticed they were increasing as Super Soap Weekend & Veteran's Day was approaching. People had mentioned that it was NJ week (many NJ school systems were out for either part or all of the week) however we were still able to basically walk on to almost everything (used fast pass maybe 6 times the entire time). Hope you have a great time

We went October 27 last year and it was the best trip I've had yet. The parks were EMPTY, the weather was great and of course it was Halloween :D

We went in late November last year - the week right before Thanksgiving and it was great. Value season, crowds extremely small (never waited longer than 15 minutes) and the weather was perfect (at least to us Northerners) temps in the high 60s, low 70s.

Be careful of timing of the Food and Wine Festival and Super Soap Weekend.

Hi!
DH and I went w/o our kids this past September (9/10-9/21) and we had a blast. There was literally no waiting for anything--we rode Test Track twice in a row w/o getting off at 11 a.m.

That being said, I agree w/ the other posters that suggest early November. It was HOT in September!! I think with kids as young as yours, the heat and humidity may be overwhelming. Also, it rained every single day we were there--it didn't bother us, but we weren't trying to keep a toddler and 2 elementary age kids dry either.

Hope this helps!

We have always gone in early November and we really love it. The weather is fantastic and the "crowds" are basically non-existant, and best of all is the Food and Wine Festival. FABULOUS!

This past year we went to the World in early Nov. We had great weather - able to swim - but not sweltering heat and humidity. Value season of course is also a big plus. However we did find the parks more crowded than expected b/c of Jersey Week.

This coming year we are going to try late Oct. We'd like to try MNSSHP. DD loves to swim so that is a priority and late Oct. should be great for that.

We had friends who went early Oct. this past year and they said it was extremely hot and very humid. They do not want to go back in that time frame again. I've heard Sept. is even worse for the humidity.

Great News everyone-Thanks!
Our Fairytale Wedding is November 8th, sounds like a perfect time!

We have been there in September (Very hot and humid) October (Still warm but fabulous although it can still be hurricane season), twice in November ( Great weather although later in the month it starts to cool down) and December (although it is supposed to be dry we had 6 straight days of rain) My suggestion October - November! They start putting up Christmas decs in the middle of November as well.

Thanks everyone for the input!!! Now I'll have to think everything over again. 1st week of Nov sounds good but we've got to squeeze in before that 3rd Birthday.

If you could go the week after Thanksgiving the crowds and weather should be good, and you could see the Christmas decorations.

So what is the optimal week in November 2003 to avoid Veterans Day, Jersey Week, Soap Festival and Thanksgiving?
