Best thing to help kids ears pop on the aiplane??

As an adult, I've always had trouble on descent/landing, never on take off. Often I'm in real pain. Chewing gum, swallowing, blowing my nose never do anything (although a good yawn has done it a few times).

Since I tried taking a pseudofed-based decongestant, this has ALWAYS worked for me, and I intend to try a child version on my 3 kids in April.

On our last trip to Disney I had trouble with the popping of my ears and chewing and yawning didn't help. I asked the flight attendant for assistence and what she did was take two paper towels and get them soaked in very hot water, ring them out and the wad each one and stick them to the bottom of two styrofoam cups. I then proceeded to cover my ears with the styrofoam cups. With the exception of my neck getting a few drops of water on it, the steam from the hot paper towel in the cup worked like a charm.

An idea might be to talk to the kids doctor about what they think before you go. I don't have kids but, I have allergies and sinus problems that leave me at least slightly congested quite a bit and I also have TMJ which already starts hurting with all of the above, but gets even worse when I do any amount of chewing, can't have gum or chewy things like skittles, I tried everything and until I discovered earplanes I was just in pain, seriously, my ears would hurt for a full month after I flew. I put them in right before they close the airplane doors and Do Not take them out till they open the door again when we land and I haven't had a single problem since, and that is saying something.
