Best stroller for Disney?

We're taking our first trip to Disney with our kids: 8, 6 and 21 months and I can't decide which stroller to bring....
...The smaller umbrella-style stroller, has a basket on the bottom, but the baby doesn't always like to stay in it
...The larger, bulkier stroller that's a little more comfy for the baby, and easier to roll for us
...The Jogging stroller, it has a small pouch, but no basket on the bottom. The 6 year old would fit in this one, if she got too tired
...Or should we just rent one at Disney?
We'll be driving to the park, if that makes a difference.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Both these links offer great advice on strollers. On my last 3 trips, we brought a stroller twice and rented one from an outside co. once. Although renting was nice, we missed having the stroller for the airport waiting period. Since you do not have that issue, renting from the outside may be an option for you. I'm not sure if the above links have info on renting outside of WDW. If you need more information on renting from an outside co., you can PM me or just post that need in this thread. If you decide on bringing your own, I would go with the medium size stroller. If your little one needs to take a nap, they are more likely to fall asleep in the bigger stroller over the smaller one. I will say it.

The 8 and 6 year olds don't need a stroller, so that's not an issue.

We used a cheap umbrella stroller for our toddler up to about 4 years old. then we ditched the stroller. You want something light and esay to break down for getting on and off busses and botes and such. Something cheap in the even that there is a theft.

The best plan of acttack is to park the stroller at major areas, like fantasy land, and walk to the attractions there, then get in the stroller and move to future world, unload and see the attractions there.

We personally like the WDW strollers. They are expensive, but they are super easy to maneuver. Also, by midday your 6 and 8 year olds may want a ride in there, too! And they can easily fit into a Disney stroller. It has ample storage space - we kept water bottles, autograph books and pens, snacks, smashed up raincoats, in the pockets, and then kept our backpack on top of the stroller. We rented a double stroller on our last trip with our 4 kids - 5,6,8, and 10 - and everybody took a turn in it. (Also note - we do Disney on a budget, but the stroller is one area where DH and I both agree the extra $ is worth it.) We were in the parks for 3 days, so the first day I rented the stroller for "length of stay" - 3 days, in our case - and that gave us a few dollars off per day. Also, we didn't have to wait in the stroller rental lines the 2nd and 3rd day.
Anyway, we have really liked using the Disney strollers. We saw others struggling with getting their strollers on and off busses, which won't be an issue for you if you're driving to the parks, but it may be an issue with trams, etc. Also, if your WDW stroller "goes missing", you just show your receipt and get another one.

Umbrella strollers are nice for getting on the buses and boats, but I hate pushing them around all day. I'd rather have a bigger stroller that is easier to push and is comfortable for the baby to sleep in, but still light weight.

And I will say this. EACH PERSON is entitled to decide at what age their children are too "OLD" for a stroller...

We took our "larger bulkier" stroller with us on our last two trips. The advantages are that we saved some $$ on the stroller rental, we had a place for our daughter to "rest" when she was tired and we also had a place to store our jackets and miscellaneous stuff when we did not need them. The disadvantages are getting on and off of the Disney Transportation with the strollers. I always waited in line with the stroller folded up ready to board the bus. Once I got on I went as far to the back of the bus as possible and stood in the aisle holding the stroller. I was as conscious as I possibly could be to the people around me.

Agreed, but just know that most people who see 6-10 year old kids in a stroller think...

"that kid does not need to be in that stroller" which means the parents are just lazy and dont want to put up with a crabby child or take the preperations to get the child ready for disney on feet.

I know this does not apply to everyone, since many have hidden dissabillities, but american childeren are losing the war against being a fat out of shape generation.

kids need to eat better, get off the couch, play outside, and walk instead of ride when at disney world.

I'm not sure why you think you know what "most" people think.
You clearly have your own strong opinion on the subject, which you are entitled to, but others may disagree.
Even for kids who are active and get plenty of exercise, walking 10 miles a day, for multiple days, is extremely tiring. So I'd never make a judgement about what kind of parent someone is just because they have an older child in a stroller. None of which is really the topic of this thread.

When we had to bring 2, we would always use the umberrella stollers, but now we are down to 1, so we bring the regular stroller, that drops down for naps, has a basket in the bottom, and cup holders. It also breaks down quick for bus and planes.

We found our kids usually did not want/need a stroller after 6 years old.

I agree with mill4023 that "most people" is a pretty strong statement to use. I see a parent with a 6-10 year old child and a stroller at Disney World and think they are a parent that wants to ensure that their child fully enjoys the Disney experience instead of concentrating on sore feet, being tired, etc. I would rather myself deal with the aggrevation of lugging a stroller around than my daughter not fully enjoy the Disney Magic...my opinion which I am certainly entitled to as you are yours.

My daughter does get off of the couch (she plays basketball and participates in gymnastics), play outside and she walks at Disney World until she gets tired. Anyway, sorry to have been a part of hijacking the OP's thread...

Anyway, if I can recommend a good stroller for WDW, it is an umbrella stroller made by Jeep but does not have low handles. It has a small adjustable shade and side pockets to carry stuff. It was very nice getting on and off the busses because it is lightweight. I got in back in July at Walmart for about $25.

If you will be using Disney buses, you will probably want a stroller that is easy to fold up and carry onto the bus. The more stuff you haul around, the more stuff you will have to carry onto the bus. Even if you are riding the monorail, you may also have to fold up the stroller to board.
