We will be going to our first MVMCP on Dec 4th (Sunday). What would you all recommend doing first or avoiding? Any rides more popular than others? What would be the best place to grab a quick bite to eat during the party (Cosmic Ray's or :confused3 )

Cast includes: me, DH and 2 boys (5 & 3 - on their first trip to WDW)

Thanks :flower:

EDIT: I should mention that MVMCP will be the boys first time in MK

We will be at the Poly Concierge from 12/4 - 12/9..we are also attending the MVMCP on the 4th.

I've been looking into booking the dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern before the Party begins. The last time we went to the Party was in '02 and the crowds weren't too bad. Never got our picture taken but the parade was wonderful.

It is so much fun...the attractions that are open usually don't have much more than a 15 minute wait and the atmosphere is so grand that you won't even notice the wait!

I'll be going on the 11th, which is my birthday and first MVMCP. Am also interested in a "touring plan" for this event. :sunny:

Well, this might not work if it's your first time there, but my best advice for MVMCP is to skip the regular MK stuff and concentrate on the special "party" stuff. Save the regular rides, etc. for a regular Magic Kingdom day.

So, when we do the party, we concentrate on the special shows, the parade, the fireworks, getting pictures of the characters dressed up for Christmas, etc. - things that you don't get to do on just any day in the Magic Kingdom. The rest of it, you can do anytime. That includes the special Christmas Country Bears show. It runs all day long during the Christmas season, not just at the party.

We typically arrive at 4:00 and ride a couple of rides in Tomorrowland. Then we go to Cosmic Rays and have burgers while the park is emptying out. We usually don't have trouble getting on the rides, seeing the parade and the fireworks. We don't ride a lot of rides in Fantasyland (especially Dumbo) if we can help it (sometimes DD5 insists), because the lines get longer due to slow loading. Sometimes there are one or two rides that we don't get to, but we try to catch those on our next visit.

Thanks for all the tips!!!

I can't believe that it is only a month away!!! :Pinkbounc

We went last year. We went to Tomorrowland first while the park cleared out. Then we went to the first showing of the christmas show in the theatre. We all enjoyed that. Did the parade and hot chocolate and cookies at the Diamond something salon at Frontierland. Have fun.

This is great advice. We ( me, DH, DD 11, and DD 9) are going to WDW Nov. 28-Dec. 2. This is also a Monday-Friday, hoping for less crowds. ;) This is our family's third trip to WDW, but our first at Christmas. We will be attending our first MVMCP on Tues, Nov. 29. I needed these tips, but can use more :sunny:

May 2001-All Star Sports
July 2003-CSR
Nov/Dec 2005-Wilderness Lodge  26 DAYS
Nov. 29, 2005-Our Family's 1st MVMCP

beattyfamily - Thanks for sharing the show times!!

MHTeacher - Maybe we'll cross paths. Our stay at CR is identical to your dates.

It varies from night to night. Maybe the machines don't always work. I've seen it snowing at 7:00p and thru the night but other times seen it only snow during the parades.

Another good idea is to wait to have your picture taken. The lines are crazy at first. A good time is usually during one of the big shows if you're planning on catching the second one.

It snows on Main Street all night long I believe. I'm sure there's probably more info in the Sticky thread at the top too! :)

WOW! There's so much more to do/see than MNSSHP (at least it seems that way). For MNSSHP it's the parade/fireworks/candy. There are so many shows to catch for MVMCP!!!

I really have to plan this stuff out - I did a horrible job with MNSSHP last year. We wasted a TON of time waiting to see scarecrow Mickey at his house (like almost an hour!!)

Great info!! We'll be there on the 4th for our first MVMVP too!!!

See you there! I'll have a lime green mickey on my backpack as well as we will be wering matching sweatshirts/t-shirt so if you see us say HI

We will be there at MVMCP on 12/18. We have PS at CRT at 5:35. Is that early enough? I thought the party started at 7 pm. Last years schedule some of the extra shows around 6.
