What would be the best choice for a group of 5-- my friend , her boyfriend, and his 3 kids (6,7,+ 9) ?

The best value you can get onsite would be Port Orleans Riverside. They have 2 double bed and a trundle bed under one of the beds. Here is a link to a ton of pictures of POR. http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_dxl.htm

If staying offsite, there are suite hotels you can look in to. www.mastersinnorlando has suites for around $80 night. A simple hotel, but does the job when you are on a budget. We actually stayed there 3 years ago for $35 a night in a regular room.. The whole week for $300, couldn't beat it.....at least if we were going to have to stay off site, that is.

May I also suggest pricing out 2 connecting rooms at a value. I prefer Pop but I am sure all the values are just as nice. This would give the adults 1 room for when the kids go to bed and the adults want to watch TV or just stay up and chat. This would also give you 2 bathrooms so you would be ready to leave earlier.

i agree with fran99999 about getting 2 connecting rooms at a value, 4 beds, 2 bathrooms. we have done this with a group of friends & it worked well for a cheap out of school trip. although the port orleans riverside & french quarter are also nice & comfortable for a group of 5 in our experience as long as someone doesnt mind a trundel, although you might get stepped on once or twice. the kids will like the values loud decor & the port orleans pools, the pofq has a dragon/serpent themed pool with a slide that's its tongue. depending on when their going they might even get a better deal for 2 rooms at a value. best of luck!

Thanks Dudspizza! Great Pictures! I guess only the deluxes have queen beds?

We rented points at a DVC resort, Old Key West. In September, it costs 80 points to stay in a 1-bedroom Sunday through Thursday (that's about $800), almost the same it would cost for the whole week at PO. The first couple of nights are a lot more expensive, so we're staying at the AS movies. It will be a tight squeeze with 5 of us, but since my DD is under 3, we're "allowed" to stay in one room there. Plus I think my kids will really like the theme of the movies resort. Then we'll go to OKW (disney moves our stuff for free!) and spend the majority of our trip there! The 1 bedroom has a king size bed in the master bedroom (all our kids will sleep there together) and in the living room area, there is a queen size sleeper sofa for us. There is a full kitchen (to save $$ on meals) and a full size jacuzzi/bathtub in bathroom which is nice. Nice pools and playgrounds too. Well... I admit I haven't gone yet, but it's surprising how many claim that OKW is their all-time favorite even though it's the oldest and cheapest of the DVC resorts - so that tells me it's real nice!

Good luck.
By the way, if you had to choose between one room at a moderate and 2 rooms at an AS resort.... hands-down, go with 2 ROOMS! Imagine, two TVs at night, 2 BATHROOMS!! It will be nice, won't it? :cool1:
