Hi
My family (Wife, kids 4 & 6) are wanting to know which DVC resort is best. We have stayed at OKW many times and love it but wanted to try another resort out. We can't decide between BCV, BWV & Wilderness. WIll you please tell me which is better and why.

Thanks
Ken

You've already stayed at the best one. :D Seriously, everyone has a favorite for different reasons. If you want to be near MK, Wilderness Lodge is a good choice. It is also nice and laid back. If you want the hustle and bustle of night spots and like to be near enough to Epcot and MGM to walk, then BWV or BCV would be your best bet. If you like DTD and the night life there, SSR is best. Bear in mind that only OKW has the townhome style villas. The others are all more of a hotel feel to them.

because of your kids ages I would go VWL - why - it is the closer DVC resort to the MK.

Now if your children favorite park is not MK - then it doesn't really matter.

VWL - lodge in the mountains - BEAUTIFUL in Nov/Dec - well it is lovely at any time - but decorated for Christmas this is one of the best.

BCV/BWV - I think adults like Epcot more than children - so these were designed with adult taste. You can boat or walk to both Studios and Epcot as has been mentioned.

these 1-bedrooms will be smaller. Also remember that the studios is these is a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa - not the 2 queen beds at OKW

We prefer BCV with our kids thanks to the pool at SAB - zero entry, sandy beach, little kids pirate slide etc.

It is great as well for fast access to Epcot and MGM

Good Luck with your choice

Cheers

What's best for you depends completely on your family's personal likes and dislikes. The other posters have given good advice. I can offer one other alternative: Go to all Three!

If your vacation is long enough, maybe you could fit in each and see how you like them. Maybe 2 or 3 days at each. Kind of like getting a sampler plate at a restaurant :D Then you can choose what you like best for yourselves and your future vacations.

Of course the main disadvantage is having to move, but if you plan for it and pack light, it might not be that bad. It can also be a big difference depending on if you will have a car or not. Anyway, just a thought.

No problem. BCV is better because of StormAlong Bay, BWV is better because of it's dining/entertainment options and VWL is better because it's only a boat ride from MK.

Thank you all for replying. I have a few more questions....

How's the transportation for each? Is it a long walk to the bus depot/boat dock?

What about the view? Which resort would likely give me the best view? We'd like to be able to see lights/fireworks. Please keep in mind, we are getting a studio (standard room). I was confused...BWV has deluxe & standard views but I didn't see that BCV had a "standard" view. Can someone shed light on this please?

I think that's it for now.

get depends upon what you like.

BW standard - parking lot view - can see a little of the fireworks

BW preferred - pool, water, on lagoon side

BW preferred BW view - the best of the BW - a view of the BW. this can be loud when the balcony doors are open. - beautiful view of the YC/BC/ D/S can see a little of the fireworks.

VWL - generally a woods views - if you like animals you will love this one - sometimes a bunny, squirrel, deer, fox will put on a show for you....okay they don't know you are looking at them - but still is entertainment.

BCV - I LOVE my Epcot view here - great wonderful - Spaceship earth - but it does have a service road not to mention the road going to it in this view. but I just loved watching Spaceship earth.
the one thing I didn't like about BCV is the sofas - they were definitely designed with SALB (the big swimming pool here) in mind. Water proof.

so it just depends upon what you want.

Spiceycat-
Are all the views of Spaceship earth? I would love that and prefer that! ABout the sofas...being waterproof is bad? DOn't know if I understood that right.

Thanks
Ken

Here is the view situation at BWV...

Standard View....lower points, view of the parking lot and entrance. But availability of these rooms at seven months tends to be limited, there aren't many of them, and they are quite the DVC bargain. You may not have this option. Sometimes, availability of these rooms is limited ten months out.

Preferred View....same number of points at BCVs and VWL, with the same sort of views available - which tends to be "nothing spectacular unless you get lucky"

BW View.....same number of points, but the view over the Boardwalk is guarenteed. That means you will be able to see Spaceship Earth and the lovely lit up Y&BC over the lake. But, once again, availability is limited at seven months (or before that) and this is once again one of those DVC bargains.

The only "views" guarenteed at any DVC resort are the BW standard and Boardwalk views. You can request an Epcot view at BCVs, or the pool at VWL (or the pool at BWVs, which is a preferred view), and not get it.

just to understand cuz I'm using points from another DVCer.

The points for BCV, BWV preferred view, VWL are all the same?

OKW and BWV standard are the one that are cheaper?

Is that right?

Yes - BWV preferred, VWL and BCV are all the same.

BWV standard, OKW and SSR are cheaper.

No -- only the Epcot views offer epcot views - there is also pool, parking lot (which I have heard is very pleasant), BC views, woods view. Some others have say that they got the behind of Journey, and the countries.

I was on the fifth floor - it was GREAT!!!!

some other dis's have had the same room and came back and complainted about the service road.

as I have say it just depends upon what you want.

BCV and VWL were not in the orginially plan - they were added after the resort was completely. So their views are generally not the verybest - but I still love - LOVE - the Epcot view from BCV.....

no preferred view is on BWV.

BCV has not preferred or standard views - neither does VWL.

just ask for an Epcot view on the highest floor. You will be told that there are limit amount of these views, etc....

The Epcot view at BCV also means the light on the balcony is on all night long. We had a studio (#469 I think) and the service road was distracting to me. We had a view of both the roof of the Land and Spaceship Earth. Our best view of Spaceship Earth was at BWV -- in what would now be Boardwalk View 3015 -- over the Brewworks, and with an amazing view of Spaceship Earth.

I don't really think you can pinpoint one resort as best it all comes down to what you and your family like and every family is different. What myself and my family may find to be the best will differ vastly from what another family will choose as the best. I think they all are great in their own respect and that is what keeps us all going back to them all year after year.

I agree with all previous posts, case in point we love the Epcot view at BCV - my dd8 (at the time) loved watching Illuminations every night from the balconey. We also did not mind the access road, really never noticed it much, but as others have said it depends on what would bother you. IMHO I would not pick a resort based view, since they are not guaranteed. I would look at what the resorts offer then include potential view last. That way you are not disappointed if you do not get the view you want.

We have stayed at VWL and BCV so far, we loved both but prefer BCV because of the location of EPCOT, MGM and the Boardwalk.

Here is a view of EPCOT from a Boardwalk view room. You can see how the BCV is that much closer to Spaceship Earth. Also included is a piture of Illuminations. You can see that it is fantastic:

The DVC Resort you're in when you're there is the best one.
More gooder than not being in one I'd say!

OKW- Roomier, have to take busses to everything. A new pool, soon, that kids will enjoy.

BCV- Walk to Epcot, 'friendship' to MGM, great pool, Beaches and Cream

BWV- 'friendship to Epcot and MGM, nice pool, great staff, but ask to be close to the elevator!

WL- one group in our party had a beautiful view of the forrest, we had a view of the dumpster. a long friendship ride to MK, loooong bus rides to everywhere else, better to drive there.

Not been to the new one, yet.

We have a baby, 2 yr. old, 12 yr old, and 16 yr old. We prefer BW, BCV, OKW and WL in that order. Don't really like the staff at BCV but the location and pool are so nice. BW was getting worn down, but they've been renovating.
