What is the best price you have found for flights from Newark NJ to Orlando? Have you gotten any under $200? Or is a different area airport any cheaper? (I have done some checking online and it doesn't seem like it but what do I know?). We have driven several times in the past and I'm trying to avoid that! Just tough for a family of 5... would love to hear any tips. Thanks

I didn't fly from EWR to MCO for a while as flying out of PHL and ACY using Airtran is cheaper. However, checking the summer rate, it seems that flying from EWR is around $250 with continental.

I was recently looking as we are going in May.

Continental had the lowest fare of $178 RT, but I passed that over to go with Jet Blue. That's because with Continental, we would have had to pay the checked bag fee of $23 each for 2 of us, each way, so that would have added almost $100. If you are not checking any luggage, then that would be the cheapest option and they have many flight times to choose from.

But I went with JB because of the "no charge for the 1st checked bag" policy. Plus we really like JB. It is our favorite with Continental a close second. Depending on when you are going, many of the JB flights are $89 one way, making it $178 RT also.

Also, depending how "north" in NJ you are, you could look at Stewart Intl airport in Newburgh, NY (SWF). JB flies out of there also, but only has one or two flights per day. We would have gone out of there, but preferred the flight times we got out of Newark.

We just booked JFK to MCO under $200 rt on Jetblue. I chose JFK because I'll be leaving from my office in Manhattan, but EWR is our home airport.

We are taking flights from Allentown, PA (ABE) on AirTran for $59 each way. It's probably about an hour west of Newark, a straight run down Rt 78.

We're flying out of EWR for 214pp roundtrip on JetBlue in May. Last time I was able to score a cheaper flight out Philly for 59pp each way with Airtran and even after the baggage fee and parking it still was cheaper than flying out of Newark. For our upcoming trip I wasnt able to get that rate, so by the time I added parking in philly it was on par with flying out out of Newark. I was constantly checking fares and was even open to flying out of JFK and LGA, but all the fares seem to stay around the same 200-250.

Just make sure you account for the baggage in the fair. That 175 may look nice but if you add baggage for a family, it can really add up. Jetblue seems to be the best value.
