What is the best present romantic or otherwise you ever got.

For me when Dh and I were dating he filled my entire apt up (okay like 400 sq feet) with balloons. He ordered a gross of balloons. It was so wow. I saw nothing but balloons. After 1 day they were starting to get a little flat, we took them all outside and let them go and it filled the whole sky. I wish I had taken a pic. But it was wow.. I plan on doing it for DD6 on her 16th b-day. :)

2nd to that in a non romantic way way the robot vaccum, as it takes 30 mins off my plate every week, and runs when I am not home. Replaced that sucker within 2 months after it broke with the new updated model.

Well in that case then LOL
I like the small gifts, pictures that my kids have made. little notes that my husband will write me.

The second Christmas after 9/11, I had seen what looked like a Fabrege egg necklace on a news show about holiday gifts. It was covered in red, white and blue enamel (stars and stripes) and when you opened it there was a miniture replica of the WTC. I mentioned it in work one day and went searching high and low on the internet but never found it. That year for Christmas my attorneys chipped in and purchased it for me. They spent hours searching for it until they found it. Apparently one of them had overheard me saying how much I loved this and couldn't find it and knew it would be the perfect gift. I actually cried when I opened the box.

My diamond engagement ring :lovestruc I didn't see it coming. It was Christmas Eve and the fire was going in the fireplace and DH told me to close my eyes and stand up. My mind never even went to a ring! When I opened my eyes he was down on his knee holding the ring in the box. :cloud9:

We've been married almost 20 years and it only gets better! :thumbsup2

For a special occasion (my birthday), my then-fiance (DH now ) gave me this HUGE box...that felt awfully light. I opened it to find two tickets for "Star Wars in Concert" a week later. We both love Star Wars...first movie we both saw in the theatre; as children, for the same Halloween, I was Princess Leia and he was Darth Vader. It was a great night and we had so much fun!

For a non-special occasion...his parents are Florida snowbirds, so he goes to visit them at least once during the winter. They enjoy visiting the flea markets, and one time, when we first started dating, he presented me with a 12" single of the Arcadia song "Election Day." Duran Duran is my absolute favourite band and I love the Arcadia offshoot. Him finding that record and remembering how much I like them told me that he really cared for me, he listened, etc. Best part was...that gift only cost $1!

Alright to be honest.... my ex was better at buying gifts than my husband :headache: but overall my husband is far more superior to my ex.

So my ex: a few times when we were really broke he got me two different gifts that I can think of off the top of my head that were really sweet. One was an expensive pair of Doc Martens shoes that I did not need but really wanted. He saved up $5-7 a week until he had the $120 or $130 that he needed to get them for me. I looooove short stories, and he once got me a book of short stories where he wrote all over the pages things he loved about me.

We're actually still really good friends, in fact him, his new gf, my husband and I all hang out occasionally.

My husband has done some sweet things too. He got me a bunch of bath bombs from Lush one year for my birthday so we could take more baths together :cloud9: he got me a pair of pearl earrings because I told him the story of how my aunt stole my grandmother's pearl necklace from me. For Valentine's Day this year he got me a Kindle and wrote a very sweet poem on it.

Not very romantic but it was my Kitchen Aide stand up mixer. It makes my life so much easier!

I got that this year from one of my best friends! I totally agree though, I made pie crust with it yesterday and last week I made pumpkin bread. It is an amazing gift:goodvibes

When I was little, my grandmother had a set of child's dishes in her china cabinet. They had been hers from when she was a child. Because they were old (from the early 1900s), I was never allowed to play with them.

A few years before she died, she gave them to me for Christmas.

Yup.. I got mine from taking back a couple of dups on our registry and the difference was exactly 25 cents.. My new DH whipped out his hand and said hold on, found a quarter and said I am taking care of this for you.. It was soooooo funny, the register lady died laughing.

:rotfl2:

Good thing life is so much better than gifts! !!

Explain this to my mother please. To this day my mother would LOVE for me to get back together with my ex. I was completely miserable in that relationship for over 7 years, but you know he bought me tons of great gifts so he must be a good guy. :sad2:

To the OP the balloon room is too awesome :thumbsup2

When DH and I were first married I had to train in a neighboring state for a job. When he came to pick me up I opened the hotel door and he was standing there with a Nermal (Garfield's friend) stuffed animal.

DH has given me some truly inspired presents. The absolute best was for our 20th anniversary we went to Disney. He arranged for us to renew our vows in the rose garden. So we have pictures of the vow renewal with the Castle in the background. The same trip he also gave me a diamond necklace!

I've gotten wonderful handmade gifts from my kids, and even my students, and I cherish them all. I even keep all the cards and notes my students write for me. :)

However, this past birthday my husband bought me an iPad and my parents and sisters chipped in to send DH and I on a cruise. Two incredibly awesome gifts that I still can't believe! (It was one of those BIG birthdays, by the way!)

Also, for our 25th anniversary this past year my husband bought me a blue diamond ring that is insanely gorgeous! I hate wearing it though because I am so afraid of losing it!

In 2007 my DH gave me a DVD of Talladega Nights. I am huge NASCAR fan, but that movie was not my favorite since it was sooo silly. I was kind of confused about the gift but he encouraged me to open up the movie. Inside was a receipt for two tickets to a NASCAR race. I couldn't figure out which race. I thought it was the one in Texas, nearest to where we live. He finally told me it was to the Talladega race (hence, the movie). I went ballistic... screaming and dancing and jumping around. If my kids had been videotaping, we would have won big money on the America's funniest videos.

It was a dream trip and definitely the best gift ever.

I would have to say my kindle. I love reading but my kids love to rip paper. Not to mention that we didn't have the money to buy books. I tried borrowing from the library but my kids would find them. I even tried on top of the frig until DH didn't see them opened the freezer and then fell into a bowl of sour cream on the counter.. :( So DH used his credit card rewards to get a gift card and paid $30 out of pocket for it.

I use it at least every other day if not every day.
