can you please help ,i am looking for a good place to eat on i-drive .i have a 10 year old daughter on tow, please not tony romas i love the place ,but im here for 2 weeks i need other ideas

There's a nice place opened near wild Jacks called Sam and Harrys. It's a bit more upmarket than Tony Romas and definetely more expensive. But the food is absolutely fantastic.

Sam and Harrys website

Other than that there is Don Pablos (opposite Tony Romas) and Vitos Chop House which is another restaurant you wouldn't be disappointed with along with Charleys Steak House.

Saying that, I wouldn't go to Orlando without a visit to Tony Romas.

Depends on your definition of 'best' ie best food, best value, best ambience, etc.

For kids I can't recommend the Golden Corral at the junctio of I-Drive and Sandlake Road highly enough. Huge choice, good food cooked fresh and served hot and very cheap.

Also loved the all you can eat Chinese buffet a bit further up (past Wet and Wild), think it was called Bill Wongs or similar. More expesive than the American Buffet restaurants but bags of choice and still excellent value.

Darden restaurants are doing someting right because red lobster, olive garden & the one i really wanted to mention, bahama breeze are all very good.

I agree with keasden - it really depends on what you mean by 'best'. I have to say that before our first visit to Orlando we had been advised to go to Golden Corral, Ponderosa, Shoney's etc - but we found them all a bit disappointing. Cheap, yes - and plenty of food for your money - but not really what we were looking for. For our second trip, I did a bit more research (using the Brit's Guide) and we enjoyed the food much more - we went to places like Steak & Ale, Don Pablo's, the B-Line Diner and Olive Garden. We haven't yet tried Tony Roma's - but it's on the list for the next trip!

Another vote for Bill Wongs, don't be put off by the surroundings. A couple of the units nearby are closed down but it's fine inside. Lunch prices last until 3 in the afternoon, then for dinner the price goes up a couple of dollars, but still great value.

Good food & different surroundings try Race Rock, our kids including DD loved it.

Have to second Race Rock - the kids love it. Cafe Tu Tu Tango is also great - tapas bar with your normal children's choices, Bennigans, Darryls, Vitos, Carrabbas Itialian Grill (a bit further out than IDrive but fantastic)

I love Bill Wongs, usually go there 2 or 3 times every visit.

The TGI Fridays towards the North end of I-Drive was nice, good food, friendly staff. We also liked the TGI's Sports bar/restaurant, opposite the Mercado shopping mall, a little south of the Sandlake/I-Drive junction

Charley's Steakhouse, also just south of the Sandlake/I-Drive junction, is another guaranteed venue for my crew on any visit (though we often go to the one on US 192 near Kissimmee as we usually stay in that area, and it tends to be quieter to boot). I'm not a particular steak fan, but Charley's is an exception - there steak is as good as it gets IMO (and the pork chops are even better !). Great food, good service, and the biggest dessert portions you'll ever see !

I might be wrong but I think there is a Bahama Breeze at the southern end of I-Drive too now - if so, I'd give that a try too. Very nice food and good value too.

If you want to keep the budget down, I'm a big fan of Ponderosa (2 locations on I-Drive I believe), another of the few places where I actually look forward to a steak ! It's buffet offers a good choice of perfectly good food at a bargain price, and the steaks are great. We often take breakfast here too.

Golden Corral is aother spot we often use for breakfast, and it's usually very good - great selection. I've only had one evening meal their, in the one on US 192, and though the food was fine, the place itself was a little shabby and down-market, and kind of put me off. We usually breakfasted at their LBV place while staying at the Grosvenor, and thats much nicer - never used one on I-Drive.

Hope this helps.

Olive Garden gets a big thumbs up from me. Very nice food and surroundings. Not too bad price wise.

Darren;)

Another vote for Cafe Tu Tu Tango. We visited one Friday night and found that they were having a "Superhero" Night. All of the staff were dressed up. We were served by a Mutant Turtle. My daughters, 6 and 10 loved every minute and insist we are going back next year. After the meal there was all sorts of entertainment going on. The kids could have their faces painted and there was an artist, a fortune teller, a Characturists (Sp?), and a couple of belly dancers around. I don't know if things happen every day or just on Fridays

SidB,

I think I've been past the Tu Tu Tango, but I'm not sure I remember where it is - I'm thinking south of the Sandlake Road Junction again, a little further down towards the Omni Rosen hotel - am I anywhere near right ?

It sounds like somewhere the boys would enjoy. Thanks.

Ponderosa + TGI's get my vote :D

Another vote for Ponderosa, especially the one near Austrian court. Amazing value for money and a lot better quality food than the price and buffet style suggests. Also i find the service to be better than some high price table service places.

Also a vote for Wild Jacks, love that honey bread and the atmosphere.. and for that extra special occasion, Ronnies, tho bring several credit cards with you :)
