Can anyone recommend a good helicopter tour of the canyon from vegas?
From what I've read the south rim is better, does anyone run tours there from vegas?
If not we'd like one that does a landing at the bottom and the top if possible?

Thanks.

This year we used Maverick Helicopters.

We chose them mainly because they were the only company that would take our DD on the trip.

Cant remember what parts we went to specifically but it was a long ride through many parts. We then stopped and had lunch in the canyon.

It was very expensive but totally worth it for a once in a lifetime thing.

There are no flights allowed to the bottom of the canyon inside the national park boundaries. The tours that do land at the bottom do so outside the park. While some of those areas are quite beautiful it should be noted that the canyon at these areas is not nearly as deep and defined as it is inside the boundaries. Also, aircraft are not allowed to fly below rim level within the park.

Almost all of the visitor centers, hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, shops etc. are at the Grand Canyon south rim village. The north rim is far quieter and higher elevation. Many feel the north rim is thus more scenic. It has one hotel, campgrounds and a small store and FAR less tourists than the main south rim area.

The other area many go to would be the west rim which is outside the park on Indian land. It is where the glass skywalk is located. It is the closest area by air to Vegas.

We have used Maverick three times. Each time was awsome. There are several different tours you can choose from. We have done the sunrise (our favorite), the sunset (beautiful), and an afternoon flight. The Grand Canyon is beautiful from every point! The tours are expensive, but worth every penny. We just budget for it. We will be taking our daughters (15 and 11) this summer for their first trip this summer and I can't wait to see what they think about the tour.
