There are no flights allowed to the bottom of the canyon inside the national park boundaries. The tours that do land at the bottom do so outside the park. While some of those areas are quite beautiful it should be noted that the canyon at these areas is not nearly as deep and defined as it is inside the boundaries. Also, aircraft are not allowed to fly below rim level within the park.
Almost all of the visitor centers, hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, shops etc. are at the Grand Canyon south rim village. The north rim is far quieter and higher elevation. Many feel the north rim is thus more scenic. It has one hotel, campgrounds and a small store and FAR less tourists than the main south rim area.
The other area many go to would be the west rim which is outside the park on Indian land. It is where the glass skywalk is located. It is the closest area by air to Vegas.
