When is the best time for couples (husband & me) to go to Disney and the best place to stay? Thanks. We've never been before.

DH and I just returned from our first vacation without kids. My answer to you would be first week in December, at the Boardwalk Inn.

It was absolutely wonderful. The Boardwalk Inn is comparatively quiet, it was the least number of kids I've ever seen at a resort. Maybe it was just the week or something, but we ate at both AKL and WL and they were packed with kids and both had a "hussle and bussle" atmosphere. The Contemporary was always like this too.

The Boardwalk Inn was so relaxing, the rooms are soft and romantic, and being a few minute boat ride or walk from EPCOT especially was so nice. We could go over there and just walk around leisurely, there was always something going on, and then of course you have the things going on at the Boardwalk and only a short boat ride or walk to MGM also. I think off season the EPCOT motels are nicer than MK because everything stays open later and you're right there.

We were also able to take advantage of the holiday goings on, low crowds, and decorations. The Candlelight Processional was beautiful, we enjoyed MVMCP, we ate at both AKL and WL, the decorations, especially AKL were stunning. We could have still seen Fantasmic or Spectromagic if we wanted. I would have never thought it before, but Disney World without kids is absolutely, magically wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Girl,

When: my, now, wife and I have always gone during the spring. You have to be careful to avoid spring break, but the weather is usually great, and the crowds not too bad.

As far as resorts, a lot depends on how much money you want to spend. The three times we've gone together, we've opted for Moderate Resorts. We've been to Port Orleans in '96 (now called Port Orleans French Quarter), Dixie Landings in '00 (now called Port Orleans Riverside) and Caribbean Beach. All were great, though I think our favorite was Port Orleans French Quarter, as it felt a bit more "intimate" and "adult." I think it's a great place for a couple to stay.

Hope that helps.

How exciting...your first trip to WDW!!! I'm so envious.

First, be sure to order your FREE official Walt Disney World Vacation Planning kit here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wa...quest/videorequestindex?id=VideoRequestSurvey

Since you are traveling without children take advantage & choose a time of year when kids are in school, crowds tend to be lower. This link describes the different "seasons" at Disney World. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/resorts/resort-season.html

Crowds are typically lower during Value Season, 1/1 – 2/12
8/24 – 10/1, 11/2 – 12/19.

My personal favorite time to go is the last week in October. Although it's regular season & rates are a little higher than during value season, I love the Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom & the weather is typically warm enough for swimming...but not too hot.

Everyone will have a different opinion about the best place to stay. My advice is, STAY AT A DISNEY RESORT. Especially since this is your first vacation to Disney world. My favorite Resort is Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Disney's Boardwalk Inn is my second-favorite (mainly because of its location). I also recommend the Swan & Dolphin Resorts, great location & accommodations at a significantly lower price.

You can read detailed descriptions of the resorts here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/resortmain1.htm. The Epcot-Area Resorts are in a great location for couples.

I went alone with my dh last year for our anniversary and had a fantastic time!! I definitely think that going during a time when kids would be in school is the best overall strategy. When we went (last week of Sept.) WDW was empty -- it was so relaxing to tour the parks without the crowds!! If I were to pick the ideal time of year, it would be in October for the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I would take full advantage of it by staying at one of the Epcot resorts. Although I've never stayed at BWI, I agree with the other posters that it is gorgeous and more adult in feel. That being said, my dh and I stayed across the way at Beach Club Villas and absolutely adored it. The Stormalong Bay pool is fabulous! You can rent a single or double raft and lie back and enjoy each other's company as the current gently pushes you around the pool... Geez, now I'm wishing I could go on another trip there alone with dh..... :) I would definitely stay in the Epcot resorts area on an adult trip. You simply can't beat the access to Epcot and MGM (walking or taking the boat) and the evening dining and entertainment options.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. This is the best place for getting information on the web!!! :)

Happy planning,
Sarah

Hey there!

We had our honeymoon at WL last December and we're heading back there for our 1yr. anniversary soon. It's magnificent there and especially during Christmas time, they decorate everything and it's beautiful! I think before 12/23 or so is considered value season, it's MUCH cheaper and less crowded.

HAVE FUN!!! I'm so excited for you! :teeth:

Put down another vote for Boardwalk!

My husband and I always try to stay there, and we just stayed there for our Disney wedding and honeymoon. You can't beat the location, 2 parks in walking distance, so many restaurants, wow, I want to go back now!!!!

Some of the good times to go I can think of are:

The week before Thanksgiving week
Basically any time between Labor Day and Halloween
Week after Thanksgiving to Week Before Christmas

Have a great time!
