Hello All:

From someone who knows that I'm not leaving Disney without enjoying a batch of some tasty / authentic (please tell me they're authentic) Fish and Chips - does anyone know if one batch of Fish and Chips are better than another? THE UK in EPCOT has two restaurants that serve Fish and Chips:

ROSE AND CROWN PUB and YORKSHIRE COUNTY FISH SHOP

Has anyone ever tasted both? My hankering will be more about the Fish than the chips and I'm probably going to try BOTH restaurants (over the course of 8 days) for good measure, but just wondering if there is someone out there who has sampled both and prefers one over the other.

Thanks in advance!

LadyDiznee

Yep, the exact same. The restaurants are right next to each other, it looks like they're even connected and maybe share the same kitchen from the map. Raglan Road/Cookes of Dublin in DTD also has fish-n-chips, if you want to try some place different.

As the PP said, they're exactly the same. The Yorkshire County Fish Shop is a walk-up quick service spot and the Rose and Crown is a table service restaurant. Whether the fish and chips are authentic are not, I don't know. I have never been to the UK. My bet would be, not that authentic, since you are in central Florida. We alway get some from Yorkshire County and go eat in the English Garden across the way. We like the fish and the chips are regular french fries. Yorkshire will be a lot cheaper than the Rose and Crown.

The only difference is a bigger serving and higher price at Rose and Crown. They taste the same.

Ah, Thanks so much LadyRayado! Raglan is on my list!

Thanks so much for the info and the tips!

and they are not even close to authentic. Real fish an d chips should be fried in beef dripping. Don't even get me started on the lack of mushy peas!!!

They have packets of many vinegar...doesn't that make them authentic?

it's a start but it is all too "sterile". You really need mushy peas and a big jar of pickled Eggs, pickled onions and of course the beloved Gherkin (pickle to the US audience). No self respecting Yorkshire Chippy would ever consider not frying their chips in beef dripping

They are actually close but not identical. I know this because we went with friends with an allergy situation to R&C, and she wanted fish and chips, but the one at R&C was seasoned before breading with her allergen spice, whereas the ones at the CS were not. Also, R&C is one LARGE piece of fish, Yorkshire is several small pieces. I was not really able to TASTE much if any difference though, between both these as well as the CS fish and chips in DTD (too many other options for us at Raglan so haven't had the fish and chips there).

Indeed that IS different 2girlsmom.... thanks for that clarification! Will definitely make note of it

Are you talking about the fish served in the pub or the fish served in the restaurant? Because the pub fish is exactly the same as the CS. The restaurant fish may be different.

What are you referring to? We had mushy peas at R&C a few weeks ago.
