If you had to pick only 2 sit-down restaurants on Universal Property for a family (3 boys ages 4-11) which would you pick?

I think Mythos by far in the Islands of Adventure Park. Tchoup Choup is good in the Royal Pacific. Margaritavilles in City walk is one my favorite. There is a decent seafood restaurant at the main Universal park drawing a blank on its name. THere are actaully a bunch in City walk but these are my favorites, Mythos #1 by far though.

Hmmm, my #1 is Margaritaville for the family, #2 would be a little tricky. I'd probably have to say Tchoup Tchoup, but Latin Quarter is great, as is Emeril's. We also love Finnegan's.

Ironically, in 10 years we've still never eaten at Mythos.

Mythos for sure. Not sure on the second. Maybe the Nascar or NBA restaurant? They would probably like Margaritaville as well.

Mythos...mmmmm

Bubba Gumps is fun...NASCAR has TVs everywhere. I like Latin Quarter although I don't know how appealing it would be for kids. Marley's has outdoor seating in case the boys like to move around.

My family loves Finnegans and Mythos inside the parks. In Citywalk they love the Hard Rock and Margaritaville (we've never been to Nascar or NBA but here great things about them.) Onsite hotel we've only eaten in the Kitchen because we stay at the Hard Rock, fab food there. :goodvibes

WOW that's like saying youve gone to Magic Kingdom for years but never checked out the castle :lmao: well not quite, but almost, you definitely have to do it next trip, extremely cool restaurant, maybe best restaurant in the world, IMO. I love love love it.

Mythos, and 2nd choice is tough, but probably Margaritaville. And kids that age would probably enjoy Bubba Gumps as well. :thumbsup2

Margaritaville and Bubba Gumps. :)

My boys LOVE Margaritaville. They sing the Volcano song year around-it is their favorite restaurant ever. ( and mommy gets to have a margarita:banana:) Nascar Cafe and Bubba Gumps have pretty good food and a fun atmosphere.

I have not had a sit-down meal in the parks but Mythos is a favorite and I would love to try it. Actually all of the in park counter service restaurants have been really good. Universal food seems to be so much better that Disney food.

I've been ragged on about it, believe me. We are doing it in November so long as the kids don't change their minds and decide to revert back to Margaritaville.

That's one of my issues with it, when we're *in* the parks the kids don't want to eat, and when they get hungry, they want Jimmy's.

inside the park:
mythos and finnegans

city walk:

HRC and latin quarters and nba city (it's a tie)

Its definitely worth planning a day or 2 around it, plan on being in the area whenever you're going to eat lunch (or dinner depending on if they're open). I definitely plan my IOA days around eating Mythos. We usually hit it at least 2 or 3 times a visit.

For sit down restaurant #1, my vote is for Mythos at IOA! Great atmosphere and food. It offers a nice respite from the parks.

For sit down restaurant #2, I have 2 choices, both at Citywalk:
  1. If you're going for atmosphere, I'd say Margaritaville. With Jimmy Buffet videos playing on a couple of screens, and the margarita volcano erupting every now and then, it definitely has a party atmosphere.
  2. The other choice is Hard Rock Cafe. In my opinion, it has better food and service than Margaritaville, but not as good atmosphere.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to force them then!

I would have to say mythos also cause we ate there for the first time this year and food is great and I would have to say at citywalk Hardrock and Nascar but we also liked NBA too
