I am a sweet junkie! :woohoo:

Honestly, no joke, one of my best memories from Walt Disney World is Goofy's Candy Co. and the awesome candies, treats, and slurpies they had. I just LOOOVE indulging my sweet tooth!

So my question is, how many sweet shops are there throughout DLR, and which one is the best? Where would I find it? Which would be the equivalent to WDW's Goofy's Candy Co? Because I can guarantee that I am going to stock up on candy while I'm there. :rotfl:

Gimme all the info you can! Thank all! :goodvibes

Marcelline's in DTD is just a candy store with fudge and jelly bellys and chocolate covered strawberries and great yummy candy apples.
The candy store inside the Penny Arcade on Mainstreet has lots of taffy and apples and cookies and chocolate and BIG Cupcakes.
There is a candy store attached to Greetings From California in DCA. MMMMmm...
And there is a candy store with cookies and everything over in Critter Country past Splash Mountain and Winnie the Pooh!
And don't forget the best Caramel Popcorn is only available at two carts inside DCA only.(one by Soarin' and one in Sunshine Plaza. The popcorn in DTD doesn't compare.
I'm looking at the maps and they don't list the stores, but that's where they are.

As the previous poster said, there are 4 candy shops at DLR. My 2 favorites are Candy Palace (on Main Street) and Pooh Corner (in Critter Country).

Candy Palace is the "original", and also the biggest. There's a window where you can see the candymakers making various candies that are sold at DLR. It's set up like an old fashioned candy shop, with a many glass display cases full of chocolate candies, cupcakes, candy apples, etc.. Then there are various packaged candies in displays and stands around the shop.

Pooh Corner is much newer, and has less of a selection, but is charming in its own way. Hanging from the ceiling are flying Heffalumps, and characters from Winnie the Pooh are represented throughout the shop. You can get the famous Tigger Tails here, and also watch candymakers making the Tigger Tails or the decorated candy apples.

Pooh's corner is awesome. But I also like Candy Palace. Marceline's is good too.

I just love candy. I'm stocking up on pumpkin fudge on my sept trip.

I don't usually buy anything in the candy shops at DLR, though I like to go in and look around, but last December was an exception because I had to get my gingerbread-men-with-Mouse-ears-cookies. I ended up at Marceline's - first of all, who doesn't love the Hidden Mickey in the Marceline's logo? (During Halloweentime, they had big, fat pumpkin cupcakes and all kinds of goodies, and I wanted to see if they had peppermint cupcakes.) I got my gingrebread men with ears, as well as a Christmas tree cookie and a Snowman cookie. But, I noticed all the same items in the other sweet shops or bakeries too (Blue Ribbon Bakery - YUM!). I tend to think all the shops carry the same thing as far as baked goods, but they are all arranged differently so sometimes it looks as if the items are totally different. I had planned on getting more gingerbread men with ears to take home, and I walked around, from sweet shop to sweet shop, trying to find the shortest line, and Candy Palace seemed to have the shortest wait at that moment. Marceline's always seems to have a long line of some kind.

Really? Everytime I have been to Marceline's it has only had two or three people inside. I always thought Candy Palace was a nightmare.... maybe it's just me.

Isn't that funny?:lmao: Yep, the last couple of times we sauntered into Candy Palace, we got to a register (my friend bought something) where there was maybe only one person ahead of us, but Marceline's had the slow, long line twisting around and blocking people's paths to the shelves. I would have rather been at Marceline's during the time you were there - maybe I wouldn't have had to wait so long for my gingerbread and shortbread cookies!

Though I will say that Pooh's corner is busy every time I have been there. But it is almost worth it for a Tigger tail

I'm eagerly awaiting my first trip so I have to know....

What is a Tigger Tail???

:tigger:

Thanks

Chocolate covered marshmallows on a stick! Am I right? I only like marshmallows when they are roasted.

This is a tigger tail. They are amazing!

Marshmallows covered with caramel then dipped in a orange flavored chocolate shell completed by drizzling chocolate on top in the pattern of the Tail of Tigger.

I love Marcelines Confectionery Shop in DTD! The last time I had an opportunity to visit the shop, was last August. OMG! Was the weather hot and humid! Which is why I did not buy the delicious looking chocolate cup cake, for I feared the frosting would melt before I had a chance to take it back to my humble off site abode!
Everything looked just so wonderful, I had a hard time making my mind up.
Anyway, I have three words for Marcelines Confectionery Shop! Delicious, delicious, and mouth watering! Ha, got ya ...........

Sorry, friend, it doesn't exist! What you find at Marceline at DTD is pretty much what you find in the parks. We couldn't find anyplace that did dipped cookies or that had the little soda fountain room.

The Pooh store has a good supply of things like Tigger Tails and the cookies if that's what you're looking for. There's a candy store on Main Street that sells the less expensive chocolate bars and the bags of candy. (I love the sweet and sour Disney characters myself!)

This is one of the reasons I prefer WDW to DLR. The baked goods WDW are so delicious...the ones at DLR are iffy at best. Even Mickey Bars are much better at WDW- they're edible there! If you want one at Disneyland be sure to buy it about half an hour before you actually want to eat it- for some reason they freeze their treats as solid as bricks in CA.

Yes i thought the same thing,,,anytime i have been in Marceline's there have only been a few people, but the candy palace is always so crazy....

I personally think the baked goods in DLR are delicious. I really don't remember the baked good in WDW being that much better in quality, but there is a larger selection in WDW.

There are baked goods that Disney sells that are baked on site. This packaging can have a blue label on it. Like with their peanut brittle for example. The brown label on the peanut brittle means it has been shipped in, and if memory is serving me correctly, it is shipped in from Florida.
Again, not all baked on site goodies are packaged with a blue label, because not all items are pre-packaged.
Don't forget to look for the hidden Mickey on the pretty Marcelines Confectionery Bag. :)

I dunno guys, those places sound pretty great! I plan on dedicating some time one evening to explore DTD, and will undoubtedly stop by Marceline's. And I'll stop by Candy Palace too...not just because it's a candy place, but because it also looks very charming! :thumbsup2

I'm not really concerned with how crowded the place will get. Crowds are to be expected at a Disney Park, I suppose.

And some of those sweets sound delicious. I'm definitely going to try the Tigger Tails at Pooh's Corner.

As long as they have Mickey shaped sweets, I'll feel completely satisfied. :cloud9:

And I'm also not worried about where to get a better Mickey Bar....because I don't like Mickey Bars! In general I don't like popsicles like that....hardened chocolate over ice cream....don't know why, just never was my thing! I'm psyched to check out these candy shops! Thanks all.:goodvibes

They ARE delicious! Now I have not been to WDW to be able to compare, and I have heard mixed reviews on the cupcake quality at DLR, but those gingerbread cookies with ears I got were awesome. I broke off an arm of one of them for my friend to try and she ended up buying 8 of the cookies to bring back to her family! They are big, hefty cookies, but still soft, and they have a great flavor. Also, the shortbread cookies I had were great. And the cinnamon rolls at Blue Ribbon Bakery? YUMMY! Oooey gooey goodness! The apple pie at Carnation Cafe is delicious. So I haven't had a bad baked good at DLR so far - although the birthday cupcake at Goofy's Kitchen was not good. And you know how I loooooove me some Goofy's Kitchen! But they brought this b-day cupcake out for my friend and she made a face and told me to try it. It was too dry (like it had been sitting in a storage room for a few weeks), and the dark chocolate flavor of the cupcake was too overpowering. However, the b-day cupcakes are totally different from the ones they have on the buffet tables, and totally different from the ones they sell in the bakeries and candy shops at DLR. So other than the random bad b-day cupcake at Goofy's, I love the baked goods at DLR.

Another friend of mine decided to get a Mickey ice cream bar and couldn't finish it because it was too hard to bite into and she wanted to eat it quickly. But you know, in my opinion, I think Disney is too concerned with the quality and details of their product in general that I have to believe they have a reason why those Mickey bars are so hard. Maybe they feel if they didn't freeze them quite so thoroughly that they would melt too fast in the California sun. I am not sure. But I think there is a reason for it. They wouldn't be that inattentive to one of their most popular snacks, I don't think.

I've never thought of it like this before, but WDW is like Texas. Everything is bigger, just not necessarily better.

I've never had a problem with the Mickey Ice Cream Bars. They are always perfectly creamy and delicious
