"As long as they have Mickey shaped sweets, I'll feel completely satisfied. :cloud9:"

Be sure to try the chocolate covered Mickey pretzels! And the Mickey shaped coconut/chocolate candies!

Mmmmm, I agree Teatime. They are all good!

But let's be honest... I'm a fatty. I like almost anything with an abundant amount of sugar

I love peppermint too! Peppermint ice cream - YUM!!! And they have peppermint fudge during the holidays! I didn't see the cupcakes up close, but I THINK they were there. That's the problem I have with some of these shops like Marceline's and like Blue Ribbon Bakery - it is hard to tell what is in the display cases until you actually get up there to buy something (clever tactic of Disney to set it up so that you can't see the goodies well until you get up to the register!). So I didn't have a good view of the cases most of the time. I peeked in Blue Ribbon Bakery - too many people. Then I remembered seeing the pumpkin cupcakes in Marceline's last October in a certain spot, so when I went back in there in December, I was trying to look in the same spot where the pumpkin ones had been to see if I saw peppermint cupcakes but there were people blocking my view! I THINK I saw something resembling a cupcake in that area!:lmao: I would think they would have to have something like that during the holiday season. Something with a lot of yummy peppermint frosting - doesn't that sound wonderful?

What they definitely DID have last year (in the Plaza Inn and also in the bakeries) was something called the Peppermint Pot Cake. It was a hunk of peppermint cake jammed into a collectors holiday mug, with some sort of sauce on it and whipped cream and a candy cane hanging off the side of the mug. I didn't get one, but it looked delicious (if you like peppermint as we do!).

I LOVE carmel popcorn, but it has to be soft and gooey!! Is the carmel popcorn gooey or crunchy?

Sherry, thanks for the peppermint descriptions. I'm afraid we will be there too early this trip for Christmas goodies, but it'll give me incentive for another trip sometime at the holidays (I think I might finally be over my post-traumatic experiences going between Xmas and New Years in college all those years ago).

Luckily, I also love pumpkin, so I'll be on the lookout for the pumpkin cupcakes. Although I don't know how I feel about pumpkin fudge ...

I knew I could count on DISers to get me through the 110-plus heat here on my way to FALL!

Darn it. All this talk of sweets so I took a trip to DL and bought a bunch. Shortbread Shorts, Honeycomb, English Toffee, Peanut Brittle, and chocolate coins. mmmmmmmmm... One fave for each person in the house.
DL was like a ghost town when I got there at 2pm. Walked right up to the turnstyles. Street was empty compared to other times. It was really hot at 91 degrees. Whew! But my chocolate didn't melt and thats all that matters!

It is deliciously soft and gooey! Especially when it is freshly stirred and still all stuck together!

You're welcome!

Oh yikes!:scared1: Yes, always avoid DLR between Christmas and New Year's if possible! Crowds are crazy because of all those people out of school and work, armed with holiday gift money to spend at DLR. Yikes. Go before Christmas if ever you make another DLR holiday trip! The Blue Ribbon Bakery sells pumpkin raisin muffins in fall (with a cool little Mickey Jack-o-lantern stuck in the top) and pumpkin cookies, and the candy shops sell the pumpkin fudge, but I think I only saw the pumpkin cupcakes in Marceline's. That doesn't mean they didn't have them somewhere else in DLR, but I only noticed them in there.

I've never had a problem with the Mickey Ice Cream Bars. They are always perfectly creamy and delicious

They even have signs on the carts warning you that their treats are "frozen solid".

As to the poster who thinks it may be due to the CA heat, :rotfl:! Have you been to Florida??? Add 20 degrees and about 50% humidity to whatever is going on in CA and you might approximate Florida.

I think it's a marketing choice.

I personally think the baked goods in DLR are delicious. I really don't remember the baked good in WDW being that much better in quality, but there is a larger selection in WDW.

I'll only comment on the items I've purchased at both...brownies, croissants, and cinnamon rolls. The brownies at WDW were chewier and fresher tasting than the ones at WDW. The crossants at WDW are crisp on the outside, flaky on the inside, and very buttery. The one I got this time at DLR was soft all over, but the ends seemed crispy/dry. It was buttery tasting. The cinnamon rolls...there's no comparison. I've purchased one at each resort on each of the 4 trips we've made this decade. Both times the ones at WDW were huge...about 6" x 6", soft, cinnamony, and covered with a thin glaze that is carmelly. The ones at DLR were about 4" x 4", the roll itself was dry to the point of being crumble and tasted of bread, not cinnamon, and they use a thick, white, powdered-sugar based frosting that is glopped on top- almost 1" thick.

If there's a place at DLR where you can get the big dipped cookies I couldn't find it.

Ummmm.....that poster is me! Hi - friendly moderator here! I was joking. Dry humor. I really don't have a clue why the bars are so hard but I was agreeing with you that the bars are very hard, and I would imagine Disney is aware of this because I am sure people have voiced it to them.

As for the cinnamon rolls, I love the ones at DLR and I find them to be huge and delicious. Maybe it is all in perception, but I can't imagine trying to scarf down an even larger cinnamon roll.

From everything I have heard, Florida has California beat in humidity by the ton, but not necessarily always in temperatures alone. When it is 90 or 100 degrees here in California, I don't know if is 110 or 120 degrees in Florida...I could definitely be wrong though! Is it that hot in Florida? I have never been there. All I hear about is the humidity. California is a desert state, after all, so we do get some high temps but not the humidity as a rule (though this week is humid, for some reason). We get the dry fire-igniting weather.

This is a tigger tail. They are amazing!

Marshmallows covered with caramel then dipped in a orange flavored chocolate shell completed by drizzling chocolate on top in the pattern of the Tail of Tigger.

mmmmmmmm......!!!!!!

Like I wasn't excited enough for my trip!!!!

Good thing I saw this while eating dinner!

I've never seen anyone mention my favorite DL candy- the peanut brittle! It is so good, DH and I buy some every trip. It makes a good snack too, with the peanuts in it! :goodvibes

It might actually be considered a healthy snack because of the protein quotient!:rotfl: I have never tried the DLR peanut brittle, but whenever someone has left a box of the See's Candy peanut brittle around, I have dipped into that more than I should!

OP, as for your original question, there is really no store at DL like Goofy's Candy Shop. There is no place where you can custom build your treat. With that being said, there will be no lack of yummies. I ordered the peanut butter filled oreo, dipped in fidge and rolles in toffee at Goofy's. I know- stupid good! I was able to find some yummy dipped oreos at Critter corner, just not cutom to my order. I don;t think you'll be dissapointed!

There are dipped Oreos sold in DLR somewhere? I must seek these out.

I've never tried the peanut brittle. I'm going to have to get this on my next trip.

I'm going to be so freaking broke after my trip!!! :headache:

Yes, I have the same problem with the See's peanut brittle! It is SO good and I don't even really like peanut brittle that much! After I heard PinkBudgie raving about the peanut brittle at DL I got her some See's so she could see what she was missing but I think her family prefers the DL peanut brittle. I tried the DL brittle and have to say that I still think the See's is way better.
