Best Buy return question

I bought some video games - buy 2 get 1 free. What happens if I return one? The receipt doesn't say anything.

If you only return 1, you more than likely get half of what you paid.

I did this exact thing - and the register in the store automatically charged me full price for the "other" game. Apparently the cashiers were able to catch it and over ride it if they were paying attention, but mine did not.

I immediately asked for the game back - (in the long run I got like $6 credit for a game I could have gotten $30 plus for if I traded it in as used.) They told me they were unable to reverse what they had done. I argued and got nowhere.... then sent a letter to Best Buy asking them to either give me the game back and take their $6.... or refund me 1/3 of the total purchase price of the buy 2 get one free deal.

They sent me the tough luck letter and I have not shopped there since.

Unless you return it without the recipt you are not going to get full price. Now if you are just wanting to exchange it than that is something different. Some Best buys are getting stricter because of people getting the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and then returning the free one for full cost/credit.
