Once a year, but I can't recall right now when the disabled veterans are out there and they sell poppies to raise money for disabled veterans. I got them earlier this year, I think it's near Memorial Day (May 30th) but am not positive. I have gotten a few every year as far as I can remember.!

We don't have that here that I know of...........

But I would like them to! I like poppies!

I remember it in PA and I remember it in NJ and here in LA so I am surprised you don't find them in GA. They aren't plants, just little paper/plastic poppies that the vets sell usually in front of Wal-mart, K-mart and places like that!

Oh no, I accidentally used my special candles that don't go out, on poor Drew. Sorry Drew, hope I didn't frustrate you too bad. I bet your candles on your other cake will have those magic candles again, lol. I did pick you out a very masculine cake, all browns and beiges, even if I did use trick candles

But the poppies - we all wear them. Vets sell them and there are collection boxes in every store, school, etc. They are handed out to those who cannot contribute too so even the homeless are wearing them.

They signify the poppies growing in Flander's Field.

Do you guys know the poem? Here every elementary school student memorizes it for school.

Our vets are out there "selling them" but basically you don't have to pay for them, it's just a donation if you want and I always give them money. I love to have poppies

I think it's great that the elementary schools memorize the poem. That is so nice! I think they shoudl here too.
