What are some of the best activities onboard? I heard that high tea is great, but hard to get into. Any suggestions?

But would like to know too.... Good question!!!
Are you on a 3,4, or 7 day cruise?
I beleive the high tea is on the 7 day cruise only...I know its not on the 4 day one.

High tea is very nice.

The best activity is getting up early to watch the sunrise, or just laying on the deck relaxing!

The adult series are very informative (some even tasty) and fun. I really enjoy the Entertaining series - cooking mostly but also napkin and towel folding (yes even a guy can find this enjoyable). Don't miss the Ice Sclupture demo up on deck 9 - simply amazing!! Also the walk through of the galley - it's pretty cool to see where your food has been prepared and they give out fresh/warm chocolate chip cookies:tongue:

I enjoy the Navigator series where you get to have a Q&A time with bridge officers - very infomitive. And also the "Art of the Magic" is a good walking tour.

We like the "Island Magic" show (ok the teenager doesn't but the rest of the family does).

When the ship is cruising at a pretty good rate 20knots or faster and going straight into an oncomming wind of 20knots or faster going and standing in front of the wind screen up on deck 10 (infront of the sports deck). Be sure to have a very firm grip on any small children (or they may end up like piglet - flying like a kite). It's exilerating (sp?) and we come back out of the wind with a serious case of the giggles!!

Walking the stairs - to see all of the different art work that they have (not to mention that you then are able to eat more at dinner because you've worked some of the yummy food off)

A lot of people talk about Bingo being a lot of fun - haven't done it may give it a try next time.

Have fun and don't stress the vacation. The magic of the Magic is absolutly wonderful!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

axsimpson - have you checked out www.dcltribute.com ?
Dave puts the navigators on his site. It might give you an idea of what activities there are and then you can post questions about specific ones that peak your interest.

Some great thoughts there jrabbit!! I'll be sure to keep those in mind!! :)

Our best "adult" activities were:

Bingo

Wine Tasting

Palo

Fitness Room

Spa (rainforest and massages)

Quiet Cove pool and pool games

Adult theme nights - 60s, 70s and 80s

The entertainment CMs were excellent on our last two cruises.... best wishes...enjoy!!!

Here's a few that come to mind for me :

family-friendly activities--
1. We had a blast in Studio Sea several nites doing family karoke (sp?), family line dancing, etc. My kids just LOVED this kid-friendly night club. We will miss this greatly when we go on non-DCL cruises.
2. Pin Trading at Customer service and getting autographs from Dis characters in the lobby each evening. Also be sure to go to the shops and pin trade there as well.
3. We got lucky & had 2 ocean-themed movies at the Buena Vista theater during our cruise-- "Finding Nemo" & "Pirates of the Caribbean" which was "really cool" to quote our kids.
4. Tropical party on deck 10 night of leaving St. Maarten (Eastern cruise) Lots of fun partying, dancing, singing.
5. Getting back to our stateroom at night & ordering milk & cookies from room service. They have great choc. chip cookies! We all sat on the bed and had a wonderfully fun time together talking about the great times we were having and taking pictures of our towel animals.

Adult-friendly activities (for when the kids were at the club/lab)--
1. Wine Tasting. We had a super time at this and I still know almost nothing about wine!
2. Getting some exercise by doing laps on deck 4--helps combat the guilt of all that terrific dining & is kind of fun in the process.
3. Brunch at Palo was the best, tea there was nice but not to die for like the brunch was.
4. Bingo was a bit of fun.
5. DH really liked the bridge tour while we were in port at St. Maarten. DS 9 went on this as well so this could go under family activities as well!
6. Probably one of the most relaxing & enjoyable activities was sitting out on deck 4 in lounge chairs at night and at day, book in hand or DH's hand in my hand. This was truly fabulous & memorable. :lovestruc

I hope this helps and if I think of more, I'll post them later.

Here's another one I thought of that goes under the family-friendly ones--

all of us going together to Shutters to look for pictures of us, then laughing at how silly we looked in most of them!! It's pretty hard to get a good picture of all 5 people at once! Someone always looked pretty "Goofy". ;)

Thanks for the info, very informative. Does anyone know if there are DVD players in the rooms?
My 2 year old will want to watch her Disney movies before bed.

There are Disney movies shown on the tv in your stateroom.

Also, don't miss Tea with Wendy. Make sure you get to the sign-up table early to get your ticket - they go quickly. Tea is on sea days. It's very cute - iced tea and cookies.

Don't miss the sail away party on deck 9 when you leave Port Canaveral.

Just hanging out in the atrium on deck 3 people watching and getting to talk to other passengers. We were talking with a family from Bermuda last year, I had never met anyone that lived there.

Just talk to the cast members and learn about their countries.

Most of all have fun ::yes:: with whatever you decide to do.

1) Basketball...my DS was just blown away that he could play basketball on a ship. Also met other boys he wootherwise wouldn't have met.

2) The evening shows. We went to all of them, some were better than others of course.

3) Ping pong. Several tables lined the deck, and we all enjoyed an occasional game.

4) Walking around the forward decks at night. The ship increases speed, and it's quite an adventure walking around in the dark with the wind and waves thrashing about.

5) Exploring the ship and discovering something new.
