Glad they had fun camping....despite the storms. You're right, the ones who left early were wimps!!!

I loved BB shooting when I went camping with Matt and I was pretty accurate too. Since we have several scouting families right on this thread, here's a link to the Cub camp in RI. click on promotional brochure to see the pictures!

Sorry a bunch of the Scouts left early. I'm sure my DS would have stuck it out, as well. Tell Logan congratulations on his accomplishments. My DS is a Life Scout, so he's been to camp many times. Good clean fun, but they come home so dirty. ;)

I can't wait to see the pictures, Stephanie. Sounds very involved, but a cool project. I like the fact that you threw in lime green. You have great taste. Put those photos up as soon as you can.

Sorry Dylan isn't feeling well. Hope it's just a bug that will pass quickly.

DH brought home a bag of sand plums. I've been puzzling over what to do with them. DD can't have anything with added sugar right now, due to swollen gums. The orthodontist is worried about the places that are hard to brush, so she imposed a sugar ban. That is rough, especially in the summer. Anyway, I stewed them and removed the pits. Then I added Splenda and some cornstarch. I poured the pudding into a pie shell. We'll see if it is any good. Of course, DH and I are dieting, so anything that even hints of sweet is going to be good. The only other thing I've ever had made with sand plums is jelly.

Popping in to catch up on my reading:D

Lk, At least you know your guys aren't wimps!:teeth:
Congrats to Logan! He must be proud of himself!

I'm really get tired of these thunderstorms. The electric has been going off so much around here, I can't keep any of the digital clocks set. They're ALL blinking!! I mean, no sooner I fix them, then they're off again!!

Merry - what are sand plums? They sound semi yummy.

DH brought home a plastic grocery bag of cherries at lunch time, there must be 5 pounds in them. One if the installers who take work out of the store DH works in gave them to him as a bribe for "better jobs". 2 problems, there is no "better work" right now (summer, AZ, snow birds are gone, general population is on vacation to cooler climes) and the guy is a hacker! SO now I have 5 pounds of red bings and those red and yellow ones (don't know what you call them) and I am sure that they are high carbs, but I am going to eat them anyway! They are really sweet, so a few at a time is all I get. I hope they don't mold before I finish them.

I like the paint scheme Steph, I am all for bright colors.
My guest room walls are pale lime green, you can't really tell, but they are:

You also can't tell that there are blue pin dots in the green carpet. I am really pleased with the way the room came out. I still need a topper of some sort for the window and a few pictures for the walls.

Dinner needs to be made, see you all later! E.... power yet?

helena: it was no fun here either, lots of water that went wasit deep to me and I'm a thin girl

I bet the red and yellow ones are Mount Ranier (or is it Rainier - however you spell it) cherries. They are my DH's favorite and we hardly ever get them in our stores. They are SOOO sweet and have a great flavor. Don't let them go bad. Think of some extra exercising you can do and eat them all. By the way, the guest room looks beautiful. You did a great job.

Sand plums are about the size of a cherry and a bright red. They have a huge pit. They grow wild in Oklahoma. They are pretty tart, but great for making jelly. The pie I made was a little tart for my taste, but there were no complaints so I guess it passed the test. DH's parents are from western Oklahoma and they grew up on farms. So DH's mom grew up eating sand plum jelly in the summer, and made it for DH growing up.

We had a thunderstorm watch come over the weather radio. Maybe we are next in line for the storms. I'm watering even as we speak, so rain would make sense. I hate to water the grass and it always seems to rain AFTER I finish. I wouldn't mind some rain, just as long as the storms pass before I have to head out in the morning. I hate driving in the rain, especially when I'm unfamiliar with the roads.

Melissa, you are probably right about the Rainier cherries. They are awfully good. He said they are from Utah. Those sand plums sound pretty good, Splenda, Splenda, Splenda!!! I'll look in some of mt son's cook books to see if there are any recipies for them. But the jelly sounds easy enough. I don't cook like that now, but when I lived in VA, I had a garden and made banana pepper relish, peach jam, cranberry chutney, and lots of other home made goodies. DH loved that I grew tomatoes for him. IT's too darned hot here to gro anything but onery.

Thanks for the kind words on my guest room. I really love to decorate, maybe I will do that for my next career, I can be a Dolly Decorator, and make lots of money like on TV....

Oh boy, my countdown is down to 30 days, I am starting to make my packing lists, I really don't want to take a ton of clothes, and I see there are laundy rooms at the lodge, so maybe I can take less and do a load or two. I hate packing.

Send rain here, the fires are still bad. But DO NOT send lightning. Only water.

Morning everyone,
List of to do is down to:

assemble bed
attach rocket headboard
more stars
get lime green paint off driveway

oh yeah...and CLEAN UP!!!!!

Melissa - I lived for about a year in Tulsa. I really enjoyed my time there. I lived a couple of blocks from ORU, on the south side of town.

When Sharon was sick, she had me paint our bedroom that same pale green, Marsha - she felt it was soothing! We're ready to repaint again.

Steph - get to work now!!! :0)

Good Morning Angels.

All of you painting rooms are so much more ambitious than I am. I feel like a slacker.

It is cooler and gray here today. I just hope it is warm and sunny at the beach next week.

Morning all... again no power. The worst part of this is that I am having trouble breathing when I wake up. I have bad allergies and even with all the rain it seems over night w/ windows open is bad for me.

Cherries, lime green paint, and all that talk of shoting things??? Wow I sure missed a lot :)

I have some little things to look at during work right now but I'll be back shortly :)

Good Morning All!!!
I slept in again!:D feels good sometimes!!
E!-I am keeping my fingers crossed that your power comes back on soon...breathing is pretty important!! I don't breathe the warm air very well either due to my allergies & asthma, so I know how you feel.
All this talk about cherries, plums, jams & pies is making me HUNGRY!!!
Carol-How's the packing coming?
Steph-lime green paint in the driveway?? Are you trying to make your house visible to Disers flying overhead??:p Remember we want pictures!!!
Marsha-Your guest room is beautiful!
LK-Congrats to Logan for his archery & BB gun accomplishments!

How did the lime green paint get in the driveway? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sorry your power is still off, E. My allergies are terrible and the kids have asthma, so we don't sleep with our windows open. It's terrible when we don't have air conditioning! Either open the windows and be a tiny bit cooler but sick or sit in an oven and be able to breathe.

I'm off to pick up DS at the lake. He finally called me early this morning. They have breakfast and a worship service before they are finished, so I'm on my way.

I had to check in here to catch up. Still feeling AWFUL, and my temp is still up. If it doesn't improve by this afternoon, I am going back to the doctor. We are supposed to go to Duluth for dog shows tomorrow, but I would say now there is a slim to none chance that we will make that. Boo hoo! I LOVE Duluth! It is my favorite dog show destination of the year!

Bump from page 2 ;)

Diane, sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well still. I hope it goes away soon. And it stinks that you will have to miss the show :(

I'm being hopeful today (okay not). But at least they have it down to 6500 in my area. So I am being hopeful for this weekend with power :)

The winning Powerball ticket was sold in Cranberry Twp.!!!!! I am really kicking myself now for not buying any. Hopefully, the winner is someone I know!

Diane, I hope you feel better soon!

I sure hope you're feeling well soon Diane.

E - About the only time I can remember extended power outages here has been after hurricanes. After Hurricane Gloria in 1985 some people were off for several days. I hope yours is soon because of your difficulty sleeping with the windows open!
Hope you remembered to bring your laptop to work to charge the battery!!!
