Benefit to buying now or wait til July?

I know the awesome incenties for BLT & understand I would get the 0% interest rate on my Disney Visa for six months when putting down the down payment.

I already have 0% Disney Visa interest rate UNTIL July. So should I wait to buy until then, so I have a full six months of 0% interest? We also have some cc debt I'd like to pay down/off.

But I don't want to miss out on the incentives (expiration date?) or BLT.

Please advise! Thank you!

You will get the full 6 months on your deposit, regardless of what it starts, so if you bought now, you would get until October to pay it off with no interest. If you wait until July, then you will get until January to pay off the deposit, interest free.

As far as the incentives, you never know when new ones will come out and if they will be better or worse for you.

I decided to add on at BLT in February and was eligible for the DP's since the cruise didn't work for me. I was able to change to the new incentives (had not closed my contract) and take advantage of the straight point price reduction. For the same price I was going to pay for 115 points, I ended up with a 130 point contract.

Right now, the price reduction is pretty good. If you are planning on buying in with 200 points (and have a member referral), you can get BLT for only $96.00 per point--a great deal, IMHO!!! I don't think you will see it lower than that and I think the incentive will continue as long as it is bringing in sales.

I think it all depends on where you are in terms of comfort in taking on DVC while you are paying down your other debt and when you are hoping to book and take a trip to WDW. If you want to go, say at Chrismas time, you would want to own before the 7 month window for booking (June) kicks in for non BLT owners.

If your plan is not to travel until sometime in 2010, then there may be no rush.

Good luck!!!

I purchased yesterday at BLT, I purchased 260 points in 3 contracts (160 / 50 / 50). I don't have any credit card debt and if I did, I would probably have waited. However, I looked at it like I was giving up $16 / point (or $4,160 in my case).

I talked to my guide about only purchasing the 160 contract now, and waiting on the at least 1 of the 50's for a month or two. He told me that I would lose the incentives on that extra 50pt contract. He told me that the only reason I was getting them now is because I'm a new member. Had an existing member wanted to add on at 50pts, there would be no incentives.

I'm in a different position than most. I have a full time job that pays the bills and provides for the family, and I also work from the house about 25 hours per week giving me some extra cash. I got out of debt with this extra cash, and I plan on paying off my DVC with this as well.

Earlier this year I put off buying a new vehicle even though I could get 0%, then GM ran the incentive again the following month. You maybe lucky enough that Disney will run the incentives again next month, but maybe not.

It's really your call on whether or not to wait. I guess one of the most important questions would be when you are planning on going back to Disney. You'll have booking windows to consider either way, but you can certainly take any money you have saved for a trip and put it towards DVC. And, for what it's worth, the new incentives that they just released were considerably better than what was previously in place, so the incentives may be better in July than they are now. If it were me, however, I would pay off whatever existing credit card debt you have now, so you can be in a position to easily handle the DVC payment (and to also qualify for the "preferred" financing). Either way, best of luck to you - buying DVC is such an exciting event!! :goodvibes

The incentives are great right now, but if you are wanting to pay down some credit card debt, I would do that 1st. Depending on the points you are going to have to put at least 10% down. If you have that money now I would take it and put it towards your credit card debt.

That is exactly what we did paid off 99% of our credit card debt and then purchased the DVC.

On the flip side are you vacationing in July at the world? Maybe it would be better to purchase the DVC now and use your points for your July vacation.

If you have a guide, maybe you should give them a call and tell them your senarios, they may help you with your decision.

Good luck. Keep us posted on your decision.
