Welcome!! :goodvibes

this ADR thing is becoming more and more interesting ... I've seen a lot of those posts, too, and wonder what the heck is going on. And then I read a post by someone yesterday who said he couldn't get a reservation for 1 at Tony's at the MK but when he tried booking for a party of 2 or 4 for the exact same date and time there were suddenly a ton of options. That's just whacked! :headache:

Thanks for the welcome! :goodvibes The ADR situations scares me a bit, especially as I am one of those people who get caught in the 10/27 thing when the 180 days become available, just two days before our 90 days window would have opened up... :scared1:

Thank you! I'm glad you won't have to lose sleep to check on this for us.
Also, I've read your reviews before and always enjoy them! :goodvibes

Thanks for the nice comment on my reviews!! :goodvibes

So, here is the online ADR report for today 9/11: ADRs for 12/10 were available at 3 am Eastern. I will keep checking the next days.

Thank you, Flossbolna, for checking on this. It looks like 3 am may be the new time! I am NOT looking forward to getting up at that time, ugh.

I have signed up for Tyler Florence's Ultimate Food & Wine Pairing at the Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining show here in DC - November 8. So the food and wine fun never ends.

But I did something stupid. I also bought a general ticket to the show and a beer, wine and spirits pass - and then noticed that the small print said those things are included with the Tyler Florence ticket. So I spent about $45 I didn't need to spend. And they say nonrefundable. I will be calling to try and explain what I did, and if they won't refund and the tickets are transferable does anyone want to go to a cooking expo in DC?

Hi just popping in to say "Hi to Bendy & the friendies!"

I've been MIA this past week. My little 6yo niece has been in the hospital. Her appendix ruptured last Wednesday & she had emergency surgery. She is finally home & doing much better. But it was a rough rough week.

Sorry to hear about your niece, but glad to hear she's on the mend. Its rough when kids are sick because you feel so helpless.

Can I ask the Friendies for some input? We're going to the Signature dinner at Wolfgang Puck's. We've not done one of these before. Am I better in a black sleeveless moderately dressy dress with lowish heeled sandals, (something I'd wear in Vegas to dinner), or a nice top/dress pants. Or, is either fine?

We're going to the same dinner, so we'll see you there. We'll have some non-Diser's with us too. I don't do dresses, so if you decide to do pants, you'll have company in that department. I think no matter which way you go, dress or nice top/pants that you will be just fine. They did say business casual on the phone when I called. The only time I'll be conned into putting on a dress is when we do V&A's. :)

SQUEEEEEE!!!

Waiting for a return phone call from Y&B Private Dining about a custom cake! :cool1:

Jay will kill me when he finds out how much it's likely to cost ... but since I pay the bills what he doesn't know won't move him to a murderous rampage. :rotfl2:

:woohoo: Can't wait to dig into the cake. Don't worry Brenda...just tell Jay you got the cake one sale. :rotfl: If all else fails, we will protect you against Jay's murderous rampage.

I have to apologize because I've been a slacker this past month with keeping up on this thread and the board in general. Fred and the kids have been very needy lately...so I have to oblige. :rotfl: Hopefully I'll be able to get back on track soon.

Let me know what you find out. I might be able to clear that day. I will also go take a further look at the offerings. I just glanced the other day!

Update: The tickets can be transferred, I just looked. Let me see if my DD and a friend of hers would like to attend the events that day. We would take the pass off your hands. I am tempted by Tyler too. ;)

Not a good start to my day. I fell on my stairs and rolled my ankle really bad. A trip to my doctors office which has an urgency care clinic with x-ray and mri facility. Luckily no break but I am in an air cast for a detached ligament to the top of my foot. And it will heal on its own with rest, ice and elevation. Guess I wont be back to work until Monday.

Thank goodness it's not broken but UGH! I am sorry! Please take care and feel better soon!

They've told me they might be able to refund them, so when I get home from work there should be an e-mail confirming that. If not, I'll get in touch with you. Or I can invite my mother and transfer them to her, but I think she'd want Tyler's thing too...or I can maybe switch them to Saturday and do both days!

I'm keeping Tyler for sure. I am not sure about the other things (Giada and Paula and Guy) because I can't tell if there's food involved and I'm already doing one like that in New York for Alton Brown. I picked Tyler's because you actually get food.

And I can't stand the Neelys so he won over them.

I'm so glad it's not broken.:flower3: I hope you get the rest you need and a feel better soon.

I am so sorry! That's got to hurt terribly. My friend did the exact same thing this spring and I know how much pain she was in. Please stay off of it if you can; my friend did not and wouldn't take off any time from work even at the beginning, and it took a lot longer to heal. Feel better!

He is the only one I would pay to see too. The three of us are going up for the day. I will hold off buying tickets until after you decide. We are just going to do the general admission and the beer-wine area for our first foray into this thing. If you need someone to take those two parts off your hands I will do so gladly. If not, we will order our own. Thanks for getting me to look at it more carefully! The girls are probably more excited than I am, actually. :goodvibes

I thought of Elin immediately when Catherine posted. Looks like you'll have a never-ending nosh, Catherine. One that extends past my birthday. :rotfl2:

Egad, I am glad you didn't break anything. Get well soon!

Hi Y'all, Thanks for all the good wishes for my niece!:goodvibes She is improving quickly, now that she is home! As she said the other day in the hospital "I'm just so tired, I haven't slept in days! I want everyone to just leave me alone!" After a good night's sleep, she was already outside playing a little & picking flowers!

I can't keep up with all the chat here, but it sure does have me laughing!
Where else can you find prayers to Food Saints, being Bammed for not posting Porn, women pimping themselves?!! :confused3;)

Oh no! :sad1: Ligament tears are really painful! I hope you feel better soon.

I am happy she is home.. I agree with her -you never rest in the hospital!

Here's is some home cooked food porn for y'all. After eating take-out & hospital food for a week it tasted soo good! I've been griping to DH that I keep coming across recipes with smoked paprika & couldn't find it anywhere. The sweet man went online & ordered some for me. Of course then I couldn't find the recipes I had been wanting to fix. So I just winged it & made up my own.

Yeah, dinner is ready!
