What a lovely meal you all had at V&A, Michelle! I look forward to experiencing a slightly less "grand" meal this December. But I agree that there can't be a much better location for a family to celebrate.

I am now very curious to see if anyone has a TR with a Christmas Eve review of V&A on here... off to look!

And I am equally curious about their breakfasts. Back in the day, Spoodles was our favorite breakfast joint at WDW. We went into mourning when they did away with their fabulous buffet. It will be interesting to see what Cat comes up with for her take on my favorite meal of the day. (There had better not be any egg gyros either...)

We always did Breakfast at Spoodles also.. we get into Orlando at O'Stupied AM from the West so we like to have a reservation that morning close to home! I am happy the place even has breakfast!

We saw the buffet at Spoodles?! We missed out!

Just wanted to let people know we were able to get a reservation for Kouzzina for breakfast in Oct by calling this morning. So far I have not found it on the dining web page!

Now lets hope it opens!

I'm really curious about this restaurant, and can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts. We were supposed to see Cat Cora at last year's PFTS, but at the last minute, she bailed because her son broke his arm that day. I wonder if she'll be there for the restaurant's opening day?

In the main dining room, everyone gets a personalized menu of that day's offerings that you get to choose from. You can call in advance with food allergies and they will accommodate you. Back at the chef's table, you can tell Chef Scott or Chef Amiee, whomever is there that night, what your likes & dislikes are, and they will cater to your tastes, choosing from what's being served that night. There may be a few extra dishes thrown in, depending on what they have & how busy they are that night...

We went to DC instead and had a wonderful time at the Sofitel Lafayette Square instead, but midway through the trip she told me to please book WDW for the following year.

Our tradition of a WDW Christmas started in 1996, because of a need to form a family tradition that wasn't based on my family. My Dad died suddenly in 1992, at Christmas and we tried for the following 2 years to maintain that family atmosphere with my Mom and siblings. It just wasn't working, and we still had a young child. I remembered my father telling me after our second child was born that we needed to develop some of our own holiday traditions (he was a very smart man). So, I came up with the brilliant idea of trying WDW and much to myBob's surprise, it worked for us. Santa still comes to Florida and puts presents under the tree(s) we take and the stockings are hung by the bedposts with care. The main gifts now are the parent-paid vacations and special meals such as the one we are now planning.

It has been a lifesaver for us.

ETA: We leave on the 27th... someday I would love to stay for NYE!

I just read the post about Mr. Pretentious at the wine tasting. I love to aggravate these kinds of folks by talking loud, using my best cajun accent.....or better yet, what do you think his reaction would have been if you would have picked your teeth and started rubbing your belly? My son sometimes will do that in a restaurant to embarrass me.

Well you would have fit in perfectly with our group. I don't embarrass easily and we like to have fun, so its all good!

Alison, sounds like a fun night! I can't believe the twit actually said the wine had tobacco notes! I would have been doubled over in laughter! Sorry there wasn't more food to go with the wine & the weather was bad. You guys just can't cut a break - what is it will all the rain out there this year?! Send some our way, I don't feel like watering everything!

How's Drew's garden doing? Anything to show off? I think I'm going to start a veggie & herb garden next year. I'll have to ask you guys for tips.

Yeah, we were all laughing so hard we hard tears in our eyes. I had to put my head down at one point and not look at anybody because I couldn't stop laughing. I guess you just can't take us anywhere!

Drew's garden is phenomenal. I will have to post pics of some of his stuff. He posted some photos on his blog, but it is such a small portion of what he has going and he only posted some of the plants, not the produce coming off of them lately. We are innundated with tomatoes, Italian eggplant, onion, scallions, zucchini and its just amazing. Thank goodness I'm not in charge of the garden or it would all be dead. This kid is our very own garden whisperer.

Oh the pressure!

I see that there are press reports that Kouzzina will be open by mid-September and Disney is apparently already taking ADRs. Does anyone know if a menu has been posted yet?

The menu is going to be the tipping point for me since I'm not typically a fan of Greek food.

I agree-I need to see a menu. While she's obviously a gifted chef, her style of cooking does not excite me but I'm hoping that I'll be pleasantly surprised with her menu.

I thought we needed some goodies for our new house.......

Now how on earth did I miss this last night? I could use some of that-even if it is still breakfast time here.

We went to DC instead and had a wonderful time at the Sofitel Lafayette Square instead, but midway through the trip she told me to please book WDW for the following year.

I go out to a wine tasting for the evening and I come back to a new thread.

Our wine tasting was mildly entertaining. You know how you always get that one overly pretentious snobby know it all twit in your group that asks questions they already know the answers to just to let everyone else know how intelligent they think they are? We had one. We had a really good laugh at his expense though, so all was not lost (well, on him it was). This guy was trying to argue with the master sommelier about where the wines were from (we did a blind tasting). At one point during the tasting Fred left and went outside for a cigarette. He comes back in as we are tasting one of the reds and this guy starts telling the sommelier that the wine had very strong tobacco notes and the sommelier just looked at him crosseyed. We all roared with laughter at our table, even the people that weren't with us, because we all knew it was Fred wreaking of cigarettes and not the wine at all, but that guy just knew better than all of us and insisted it was the wine. The sommelier even caught on and had a hard time keeping a straight face. Yes, some expert Mr. Pretentious was. Very entertaining and it had us in a fit of giggles for the rest of the night. I guess we're a bit uncouth, but we had fun. The vineyard we went to is pretty young. So I took one pic at the beginning of our glasses and the napkins and that was it. I know, I failed on the food porn for this event miserably.

I find people like that so much fun to mess with.....if they are going to put themselves out there like that, I figure they are fair game to go after! Might as well get some entertainment out of them!

Sorry to miss your fabulous extravaganza at the BC on the 17th but if my DD actually makes it past 9:30pm, we hope to enjoy a performance of Wishes at the MK that night.

Can you believe I haven't even made any dinner plans for us that night, but it's tough to be romantic on your anniversary with a two-year-old
Oh well, we will all be together and that's what counts

I hope to see you and Jay on the Tuesday so I can give you a birthday hug then and you can finally meet Kira! (make sure you have a few before our meet )

Like I said, don't worry about your DH. He will find things at V&A that he likes. Looks are deceiving, too... you really waddle out of there. I've never left V&A hungry. In fact, I usually have to skip breakfast the next day. It is expensive, but you get your money's worth... especially when you stop to think about all of the unique ingredients that are used for even one dish.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a similar situation - I lost my father to lung cancer and my sister to breast cancer, and both of DH's parents are gone now. We don't have any extended family to celebrate the holidays with, so we've come up with our own holiday traditions. I would LOVE to be able to go to WDW every year for the holidays. Fingers crossed. We feel at home there and really enjoy our family time in WDW. We get Christmas trees for our 2-bedroom villa and decorate just like we do at home. Our kids all love being there, just like yours. This is the 1st year we are staying through the New Year, because Jordan's Disney College Program is over on the 2nd... unless she decides to extend... Looking forward to meeting you in December!

Hi Cass! I'm glad Brenda got you to come over here. You are a great addition to the group. I remember when you were pregnant... it doesn't seem that long ago, but I bet Kira is so big now! So, are you are doing the October cruise this year or just some time at WDW? It's a great place to celebrate your anniversary! We just celebrated our 20th anniversary in January in WDW. (can't get away from that place, lol! )

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a similar situation - I lost my father to lung cancer and my sister to breast cancer, and both of DH's parents are gone now. We don't have any extended family to celebrate the holidays with, so we've come up with our own holiday traditions. I would LOVE to be able to go to WDW every year for the holidays. Fingers crossed. We feel at home there and really enjoy our family time in WDW. We get Christmas trees for our 2-bedroom villa and decorate just like we do at home. Our kids all love being there, just like yours. This is the 1st year we are staying through the New Year, because Jordan's Disney College Program is over on the 2nd... unless she decides to extend... Looking forward to meeting you in December!

I see you also know what the holidays can be like when someone we are so close to is no longer there. I know many of us are in the same boat and we do find ways to deal. Looks like our ways are similar! I have a friend whose DD not only extended her CP stay but ended up transferring to UCF so she could major in hospitality and continue to work for Disney. I hope your daughter will have as much fun as Chloe has had. And I am also looking forward to meeting another as yet unseen friend!
