Hello everyone!

Thanks for letting me know about this thread Brenda, I've been so preoccupied the past couple of days that it probably would've taken me forever to notice there was even a new thread at all. :rotfl:

Glad to have you here! :goodvibes

DISmeet ... October 17th, Beach Club Villas, The Solarium, 9:30PM

I will be emailing invitations with additional details to everyone who has PMd me with their information. If you haven't sent me your email address please do as soon as you can. We're trying for a final head count by August 31st so that we can place a custom cake order with the Boardwalk Bakery as soon as possible in September.

I don't expect donations toward the cost of the cake ... I would just ask that everyone bring their favorite beverage of choice so that we can all toast to each other's health.

Hope to see you there! :goodvibes
I'm sorry I'll be missing meeting all you fine people!

I'm going Sept 24th-Oct 1st, I guess all the action is in mid Oct though:confused3
I'll be missing it too, but considering a week ago I didn't even have a trip booked, I'm just so super happy to be going at all this year. :goodvibes

I was hoping to get pics of the vineyard itself, but we have awful weather here-pouring rain, so that killed my hopes of some outdoors shots. Plus the tasting didn't start until 7pm, so already it was pitch dark when we arrived there. Now we found this weird...all the wines we tasted were NOT from this vineyard. Am I the only one who finds that just slightly bizarre? I mean isn't the purpose of the tasting to turn people on to your own stuff? Perhaps we haven't gone to enough of these, but I did think that was the whole point of it. We did learn a lot from the sommelier, but I've come to the conclusion that while I enjoyed the wealth of information he shared with us, I don't think I need to delve into analyzing my wine like that in order to enjoy it.

That's like going to McDonald's and them offering you a sample of FatBurger. Seems like a pretty weird thing to do. Especially for a new winery looking to get patrons.

I go out to a wine tasting for the evening and I come back to a new thread. :cool1:

Our wine tasting was mildly entertaining. You know how you always get that one overly pretentious snobby know it all twit in your group that asks questions they already know the answers to just to let everyone else know how intelligent they think they are? We had one. We had a really good laugh at his expense though, so all was not lost (well, on him it was). This guy was trying to argue with the master sommelier about where the wines were from (we did a blind tasting). At one point during the tasting Fred left and went outside for a cigarette. He comes back in as we are tasting one of the reds and this guy starts telling the sommelier that the wine had very strong tobacco notes and the sommelier just looked at him crosseyed. We all roared with laughter at our table, even the people that weren't with us, because we all knew it was Fred wreaking of cigarettes and not the wine at all, but that guy just knew better than all of us and insisted it was the wine. :rotfl: The sommelier even caught on and had a hard time keeping a straight face. Yes, some expert Mr. Pretentious was. Very entertaining and it had us in a fit of giggles for the rest of the night. I guess we're a bit uncouth, but we had fun...

Well, you know what they say: if you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me! :lmao:

Hi Bridget! The buttons look terrific ... Catherine did a great job and so did the button company. I highly recommend them for all your future custom button needs: AffordableButtons . Com :thumbsup2

I see that there are press reports that Kouzzina will be open by mid-September and Disney is apparently already taking ADRs. Does anyone know if a menu has been posted yet?

The menu is going to be the tipping point for me since I'm not typically a fan of Greek food.

And I'll believe that restaurant will be ready and open when I see it with my own eyes. :lmao: I remember what happened a few years back with the pre-Tokyo Dining restaurant in Epcot. They ended up canceling some sushi pairings there because the place wasn't ready on time.

I haven't seen a menu. I've been trying to get an ADR there all morning though and no luck. :guilty:

I can't believe I made it and we are already on page 4 :rotfl:

Here's another picture of the fabulous button that Catherine designed for us:

For those of you who would like me to mail your buttons please PM me so that we can work out the details. I'm more than happy to mail them to everyone, I just need addresses. The final cost with shipping works out to $3 per button. I hope you're all as pleased as Jay and I are. :thumbsup2

I love the button and can't wait to wear mine. I know people are going to be asking where we got them!

I thought we needed some goodies for our new house.......

Now that looks wonderful, I'm ready for some chocolate and it's got to be 12:00 somewhere!

Hi there, Bendy and Co.! Y'all's buttons look absolutely fab!!

I just read the post about Mr. Pretentious at the wine tasting. I love to aggravate these kinds of folks by talking loud, using my best cajun accent.....or better yet, what do you think his reaction would have been if you would have picked your teeth and started rubbing your belly? My son sometimes will do that in a restaurant to embarrass me.:lmao::lmao:

I wish we could enjoy F&W with you all (even though I only know Bendy), but give us a few years. If I have my way, we'll live within driving distance to the House of Mouse.

Have a great weekend, y'all!:goodvibes

Brenda--say Hi to Big Daddy for me! And next time we meet up, we'll actually let him get a word in, edgewise.:rotfl:

KeepMovingForward (because I ridiculously cannot remember your name!!!!!!) - how terrific if we all get to meet on Christmas Eve! You had better believe I will be on the phone at 6:50 a.m. on whichever day I can be! ;)

Elin, it will be great to meet you on Christmas Eve! :santa: Alison & I are looking forward to our V&A dinner with the families. I just hope my daughter, Jordan, will be able to get that night off. She's working in WDW on the college program. I told her that is the one night off she has to beg for! LOL! :rotfl:

Here's a link to my review of last year's Christmas Eve V&A dinner...

Christmas Eve at Victoria & Alberts

Brenda, you can add it to the links of reviews in the 1st post. I'm not going to delete this one like I did my other reviews. :surfweb:

Happy Friday! :goodvibes

Just wanted to let people know we were able to get a reservation for Kouzzina for breakfast in Oct by calling this morning. So far I have not found it on the dining web page!

Now lets hope it opens! :lmao:

Thanks, Michelle! I hope your daughter can get the evening off too. We were in that same boat last year since our younger DD had trouble getting a flight that fit her work schedule at the bank. So... she finally just took the whole day off and both our DDs were able to get to WDW in time for our dinner together that night. I am hoping this one will be memorable. Getting to meet you and Allison would be even nicer. Thanks for the link to your review. Off to read that now! :goodvibes

I couldn't find it online either, but was able to snag a dinner reservation for October 6, by calling just now. It took the CM forever to find availability but she kept plugging away at it until she found two spots for us to choose from. I sure hope this place lives up to the hype! :upsidedow

The vineyard we went to is pretty young. Here's their website if anyone is interested: http://www.4jgswinery.com/ There was just some cheese and berries for food (thank goodness we went out to eat beforehand). So I took one pic at the beginning of our glasses and the napkins and that was it. I know, I failed on the food porn for this event miserably. :sad1:

Brenda, the buttons look great! Can't wait to wear ours!

Alison, sounds like a fun night! I can't believe the twit actually said the wine had tobacco notes! :lmao: I would have been doubled over in laughter! Sorry there wasn't more food to go with the wine & the weather was bad. You guys just can't cut a break - what is it will all the rain out there this year?! Send some our way, I don't feel like watering everything!

How's Drew's garden doing? Anything to show off? I think I'm going to start a veggie & herb garden next year. I'll have to ask you guys for tips. :goodvibes

Cheers!

Yes, the hype without even a menu to look at! I would never book a place even at home without knowing what I am getting into and then along comes Disney!:confused: I just hope that the have more then Egg Gyros for us! :lmao:

Happy you were able to get a dinner reservation! Hope it is as wonderful for you as we all want it to be! :cloud9:

What a lovely meal you all had at V&A, Michelle! I look forward to experiencing a slightly less "grand" meal this December. But I agree that there can't be a much better location for a family to celebrate. :goodvibes

I am now very curious to see if anyone has a TR with a Christmas Eve review of V&A on here... :scratchin off to look!

And I am equally curious about their breakfasts. Back in the day, Spoodles was our favorite breakfast joint at WDW. We went into mourning when they did away with their fabulous buffet. It will be interesting to see what Cat comes up with for her take on my favorite meal of the day. (There had better not be any egg gyros either...)

egg gyros???? EEWWWW

I've got my Tony's & HBD reviews up on the blog, I'll try to post them here as well but won't get a chance till tonight.

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes
