Jay and I both majored in history in college ... my area of "expertise" is the American Civil War. We actually spent our honeymoon in Gettysburg and Williamsburg.

Do you know how many people at our reception were bored and disappointed by that response to the question: Where are you going on your honeymoon?

:rotfl2:

and you never stopped in Fredericksburg, did you?? We are smack dab between so much other important stuff that we are often overlooked. Since you are a history buff you know of the historical significance of this area but most people don't know that things like Chancellorsville and Wilderness took place here. And they don't know that George Washington grew up here and his mother lived most of her life here (my alma mater was named for her) or that James Monroe was a lawyer here and one of the first...

ahem... I am done. :flower3:

(myBob and I are stopping in Gettysburg on our way to and from MagicMeets in two weeks. We used to live there!)

Sheesh, I don't post in a day and I'm on page 8! By the time I submit this post, it might be on page 9! :faint:

All kidding aside, the buttons look fab, and Kathy's noshables and drinkables look even better! :thumbsup2

Chelsi's going on an anniversary trip (woohoo! have fun!), Allison found the Wine Snob, Gina is someone I'd want to travel with (Disney, Vegas AND Maui? Wow!), lurkers (especially those named Lori) are always welcome here, and Elin managed to capture a picture of petrified people!

Did I manage to cover most of what I missed?

Oh, V&A is 90 days out only. No +10 stuff for them. I figured I'd answer the question since it was posted to me about 6 pages ago. :lmao:

Thanks, Lori... :rolleyes1

That is really funny!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
My SIL wondered what I wanted DH and I had planned for my birthday in a couple of weeks. The answer-go downtown and enjoy the new planetarium show, followed by dinner. Her opinion (giving with love and good humor)--Yikes, you've chosen a rather geeky birthday. :lmao::lmao:

Just got back from Seattle yesterday. I was one of those goofy tourists that was happily watching the fish fly back and forth at Pike's Street market. :cool1:

The youtube is so spot on! Whoever made it has made their share of ADR's. ;)

Can't believe how fast this thread is moving. We're all counting the days until food and wine!!!:dance3::banana:

No, we never made it to Fredericksburg, although we wanted to. Too many places to to see in Virgina and just not enough time.

We made sure to stop in Richmond so that we could tour the Museum of the Confederacy, but never had time to stop at any battlefields in VA.

I was such a Civil War geek, even in high school, that for my graduation gift my parents took me to the 125th anniversary battle reenactment at Gettysburg. Once a geek always a geek!

We've seen more battlefields out here in the Western theater ... Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain and some of the sites around Atlanta. Jay actually has a relative who was captured at Chickamauga, ended up in Andersonville, and died there. On one of our drives down to FL we took a detour and stopped at the prison to find his records and pay our respects at his grave.

Brenda - You would love it here. Someday when you aren't going to WDW or on a cruise you ought to plan to come. We saw the re-enactment at G'burg when we lived there. We have those here too! ;)

Another trip to VA is definitely on our list. We want to visit Williamsburg at Christmas, too, one year when Jay can actually take a vacation in December.

Charleston and Savannah are two cities that we'd like to get back to, as well; we only got to visit them briefly - not long enough to see much of anything.

So many places ... so little vacation time.

I know. Having time to travel is the only thing that appeals to me about retirement. But then we would have not money to travel. So.... we work and travel when we can.

I hear ya! That's why we keep hoping for a powerball jackpot or a previously unknown rich relative who decided to leave scads of cash to Jay and me. :lmao:

Hi Cass! :goodvibes I'm glad Brenda got you to come over here. You are a great addition to the group. I remember when you were pregnant... it doesn't seem that long ago, but I bet Kira is so big now! So, are you are doing the October cruise this year or just some time at WDW? It's a great place to celebrate your anniversary!:cloud9: We just celebrated our 20th anniversary in January in WDW. (can't get away from that place, lol! :rotfl:)

Wow, 20 years!!! :worship: Congrats, what an accomplishment!!!!

We are doing a week in WDW then a 7-day cruise on the Magic :cool1: I am really looking forward to this trip because Kira is a Disney kid and she knows all the characters so she should really get a kick out of this whole experience. Plus she will be just shy of 3 so she's free for everything :thumbsup2

And I hope to spend my 20th anniversary at Disney too!

HI! I remember you from your dining reviews last year! Your daughter is such a cute eater, LOL.

Hahaha, cute...that's a nice way to say it ;)

OMG ... someone posted this on the dining boards and I had to copy the link and share it with you guys. It's a riot and only the Disney Dining Devotees would understand ..

Hitler Tries to Make an ADR for Le Cellier

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

OMG, that was funny!!! Did you see the other one? It's the same video but it's Hitler planning his day at Epcot. That was funny too!! :lmao:

Eric Idle!!! LOL!

Hi Cass!

I did watch the Epcot video and the Wants to go to WDW video ... both had me in squeaky tears. :lmao: I was leery of posting those other two because of the language in the subtitles. While it didn't bother me, I'd just as soon not get smacked upside the head by a moderator for posting something that someone else doesn't like, KWIM?

We will have to work out the details for the 20th ... Jay and I are totally game. I know we're going to have to take a tipsy nap that afternoon but we'll be refreshed and ready for more fun soon after - you let me know what works for you guys and we'll work from there.

Can't wait to see you and Rob again ... and finally a chance to meet the not-such-a-baby Kira anymore! :goodvibes

can't sleep for some reason ... I've been watching youtube videos of Michelle Kwan's various skating programs. I miss the Kween. :sad2:

Keep waiting for someone to come along and lay claim to her title but no one seems up to the challenge. Aside from her amazing talent, I am always bowled over by how consistent she was. Did you know that for nearly 10 straight years she finished on the podium in every event she competed in? And in almost all of those events she finished either first or second. That is unheard of in figure skating.

I guess I should go to bed ... :lmao:

Oh, dear sweet Lord. In the 24 hours in which I have not been on the DIS, we have a new thread, which is now up to nine pages.

I'm done for! :lmao:

Once I catch up, I'll comment, but in the mean time, everyone have a great weekend! :goodvibes

I know there are some Pride & Predjudice fans here ... have any of you seen the latest movie which I believe was released in 2005? It stars Keira Knightly ... I really really like this one. It's a bit more rustic setting and the girls are a little younger but it's a delightful adaptation ... and the musical score is lovely. :goodvibes

I love that movie. They've been showing it a lot on tv the past few months. In fact, I was watching part of it yet again around 1am this morning.

TigerKat and Shovan (and anyone else down in NOLA), apparently you can get 25 cent martinis at Commander's Palace during lunch. They don't say how big they are....but for 25 cents, who cares if they are the size of shot glass!

LOL.... They are full size and include gin and vodka martinis and cosmos!

And Bacco has dime martini and $10 lunches in the French Quarter!

Now if I could just be home to enjoy it!:rotfl2:

Were you watching on Oxygen? That's when I caught it last night. I actually broke down a few months back and ordered a copy of it from Amazon - it was only $10 and all the commerical breaks on Oxygen were driving me craaaaaazy.
