Yesterday was not one I want to do over. We have sunshine here in VA instead of the snow they had been predicting, so I am hoping that might bring some better news today. I have a chance to read your posts (thank goodness for these new-fangled smartphones) in the hospital. You make me smile and lift my spirits. Thank you so much.

As for needing a laugh, we did have one on Tuesday. Every time anyone would come in to treat Bob they would ask him the same questions: do you know your name, do you know where you are, what year is it, who is the President, what is my name? So, after about ten times Bob was getting a little aggravated, I think. When the neurologist (a young woman) came in his nurse (a woman) was also in there, along with two female assistants who were changing his bedding. Kristin and I were also present in his room. When the question of what his location was, he looked around the room and said, "a strip club." The staff was stunned and exceedingly worried. Kristin and I were about to wet our pants we were laughing so hard. They finally realized he was joking.

I got to "talk" to Bob today. They wanted to see if they could take him off the ventilator so they needed to let the propofol wear off. As it turned out they had to put it back in because his levels dropped too far, but we had about an hour of very one-sided talking. The nurse said something about him probably not being able to understand everything I was saying and Bob rolled his eyes as if to say, "the heck I don't!" That was encouraging. He also half-smiled when I asked him if he wanted to dance. He did not know that he had suffered a stroke. It is still very critical, but that was a bright spot for us today. Thought you all would want to know.

Elin it sounds like Bob is getting better. He has his sense of humor, so that is always a good sign. Remember to get some sleep and take care of yourself during this time. It's easy to wear yourself out caring for someone else.

My mom's party is tomorrow. She didn't want a funeral - she requested a 'party', a celebration of her life rather than everyone sitting around mourning her death. We're having people who were close to her speak about the different aspects of her life and my sister prepared a slide show of photos from my mom as a baby all the way through the present. We're having BBQ catered for dinner and then fireworks by the lake at the event facility. I wasn't sure I would be able to go, but I think I am. I suppose I can always leave if I need to.

Elin, your story about Bob is wonderful ... that he can joke and be aware enough that the same questions are annoying him are all good signs. I hope they can take him off the vent soon and start moving him towards therapy and recovery.

Abby, I wish I had something helpful to say but I don't. Just go and try to soak up as much as you can about your mom and know how much all the people who are there loved and cared for her. It's hard but maybe you will find some comfort in that. Sending you all our best from Stink-n-Snowtown.

Hi Brenda! You probably don't remember me.. it's Travelmel! Long time no see So I got depressed cause I figured I would never make it to WDW and cut out of the boards for year or two. HOWEVER, this is my COME BACK POST! I'm going baby!!! WOOOOOTTTTT!!! And it's sooner than ever. I'm going on June 16th of this year. AND OF COURSE when I think of food I think of YOU so ... I was remembering your review of the cheese plate at the CA GRill and honestly, of all the places to eat and all the things to see , your cheese plate review stuck with me the most. HOWEVER, I went to the menu and I don't see it!! Do you know if it's really gone?

Anyway, I am so happy to be back and you will be seeing me around... maybe that's a good thing.. maybe not! LOL XOXO

Congrats on the upcoming trip! As for the CA Grill cheese plate I'm sure they still have it but the one we had on our most recent trip (10/10) was not very good. The one you're remembering is probably from 2009.

Quite frankly I was not pleased with WDW cheese plates on our last visit - they lacked variety and the portions were small ... even at Flying Fish.

Oh it was a lot of things ... my reports took too long to finish (sheesh, I'm sorry I have a job that takes 50-60 hours of my time each week with another 10-12 hours commuting) and the threads were too long to manage (sorry that I tried to respond when people made comments or asked questions) and I apparently was too cliquey (pretty sure I never told anyone they weren't welcome to join the fun but I guess some people use a different definition of the word clique).

And I'm sure somewhere along the way I made a comment or two that was probably too irreverant or insulting for someone.

So I decided to keep things on facecrack and my blog for people who are really interested in our experiences and the information we have to share. I do have to say that I find it really interesting that they aren't enforcing their own rules on the restaurant boards - threads are still unlocked after reports are clearly completed and some have dragged on for more than the 90 day limit the mods imposed but hey ... why look for consistent treatment around here?

This thread is kind of a check-in point but most of us have hooked up on facecrack now so I just keep this open to catch any stragglers who would like to stay in touch. We have a good group of friends that have come together thanks to the DIS but the supreme leaders have taken all the fun out of the restaurant boards so we keep it to ourselves so as not to bother anyone here.

I am just home from watching the first football game of the day, and the second one is on in the other room. I am just so excited, because we now have a (sports) bar IN WALKING DISTANCE from our house! So easy, so convenient, so dangerous! But fun!
