Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

TigerKat, did you see how the replies messed up? I was scrolling down, just about to ask if you were feeling better and there I saw myself quoted already asking that. I THOUGHT I WAS LOSING MY MIND. :rotfl: It was Chelle who asked that but the quote is attributed to me. Freaky weird. I hit the original quote button and it took me back to something I posted here two days ago.

Anyway, glad it is getting some better!

The rest of you are starving me to death. We are having leftover Domino's and salad tonight if dh ever gets home. Dd is writhing on the floor professing to be dying!

How did that happen? I didn't even notice it until you posted....

That was really weird!

Well, we've made the executive decision not to attend MVMCP on our trip. I just can't justify the $175ish it would be for the three of us, when we'll be able to see everything that is at the party starting on the 19th. If we were going earlier in the season I might be able to convince myself, but I'm just worried that the last two parties of the year we could choose from would just be super-crowded. I think I'll feel more comfortable with that little cushion to pad the food/alcohol/Santa hat with Mickey ears budget!:santa:

That said it will be easier to decide where to eat and when now. I have on my definite list Cinderella's Royal Table lunch, 'Ohana, Biergarten CP lunch, and Rose and Crown dinner. Also a Kona breakfast. The possible work-ins are the GF tea room, Beaches and Cream and maybe the new restaurant replacing Spoodles. Or maybe Sanaa because we can't get good Indian food here and they have Tandoori dishes.

That's all the rambling for now. Dh's only planning is all the clandestine drinking he can get in that's not around our non-drinking friends that are joining us!

Hi everybody! :goodvibes

I'll be sure to update the links later this weekend ... great pictures and reviews and happy belated birthday to Chelle's hubby!

We had a BBQ planned for this weekend before all this crazy flu stuff started up ... now we're calling it a When Pigs Fly Que. Pork and Chicken hot off the grill with a little beef thrown in for good measure.

I'm providing Sangria and Kahlua Coladas for homeopathic treatment. :lmao:

Honestly, I'm not trying to be insenstive because I do know how quickly the situation could become extremely serious, but as somone who's tooling around with four (at last count) auto-immune disorders and a tumor in her tummy ... I can't take anything too seriously. Besides, laughter is the best medicine, don't you think? After booze, that is. :rolleyes1

don't forget that even if you don't GO to the party... it's really worth it to see the fireworks from the Poly beach... my mom and I went and got sandwiches and such at Capt. Cooks and then moved over to the beach and watched them from there... that part is free and you usually get the Electric Water Pagent passing by too at 9 pm... :thumbsup2

I'd thought about that since we're doing 'Ohana one night for dinner. I wasn't sure if they started doing Christmas Wishes exclusively after the parties end on the 18th. Either way, fireworks on the beach would be nice and relaxing!

Brenda, have a fun Pig FlyQ this weekend; hope you're not getting the torrential rain we have been predicted! Then it would be the PigSwimQ I suppose. ;) It always rains on recital dress rehearsal day (tomorrow) just when I'm trying to get dd inside and half way decent for pictures. Never fails!

Hi Everyone! I've finally caught up, and now I have a list of new recipies to try :thumbsup2 I live in a city with a good number of unique restaurants and foodie-related activities, so I definitely have plans to add to this thread!

Right now, the hubs and I are getting ready to leave for the Dominican Republic on Sunday :cool1: I cannot wait for a vacation. We're staying at an all-inclusive, so I'm not sure how the food will be, but I will definitely report back with anything interesting - that is if I remember how to use the camera between mojitos :lmao:

Hope everyone has a great weekend and next week, too!

Mickey made out of cones...the attention to detail at TDL is unmatched.

This looks really cool!

I have not been a very good Friendie lately :guilty: Just seems like life has been getting in the way :rolleyes1

Here are some pics from our Passover Seder:

I wish I had some of this in front of me now! :)

Well Jon turned 40 on Friday. He couldn't decide what he wanted to for his birthday until Friday late afternoon :rolleyes1 That's when he decided that The Melting Pot sounded good :thumbsup2 DH & I have been a few times, but the kids have never been there so we thought it would be fun.

3rd course was the entrees. DH & I had the Fondue Fusion:
Lobster Tail
Filet Mignon Florentine
Limoncello Balsamic Sirloin
Shrimp Diablo
Sun-dried Tomato Chicken
Orange Fennel Pork Tenderloin
Porcini and Portobello Sacchetti
Fresh Vegetables
$87 per couple

The kids had Signature Selection $58
Filet mignon, white shrimp,
teriyaki-marinated sirloin,
breast of chicken and salmon filet.

It was a great weekend filled with wonderful food & booze :goodvibes

Your dinner sounds great! We have a Melting Pot near us, but haven't gone in quite a few years. Seems like the menu offerings have changed a lot and for the better. Definitely a great birthday feast!

I've got lots of catching up to do here. I've spent the last three days passing kidney stones, so much fun.

Oh no! I hope your on the mend now. Kidney stones are the worst (much worse than childbirth IMO). Feel better soon!

I hear you about the party cost. Every year it just keeps going up and up. I figure by next year the party ticket will cost more than a one day park ticket. We went to the last party this past Christmas (I believe it was sold out). We had anticipated the worst and it was a cake walk. Very enjoyable and we don't know where the crowds were, but we never seemed to encounter them. We're looking at going to one of the last two parties this Christmas. I'm sure our crowd luck will run out this time. I keep rationalizing the party cost with Fred saying that the kids are just about out of the house and I don't have too many more years to enjoy them. Guilt works every time. :rotfl:

Yes, what Elin posted. Kathy ... here are some huggles from Stinktown ...:hug::hug: ... I missed your post when I was skimming through earlier. I hope you feel better soon (or get some better drugs). :goodvibes

Thanks Elin & Bendy, I'm feeling much better!:goodvibes

Good!

Jay and I tried a new unibroue beer tonight ... Terrible.

It was so bad it was good ... :rotfl2: I mean, it was so good that it was awfully good. :lmao: Oh I don't know what I mean except that at 10.5% alcohol by volume I can't feel my face after one small glass of the stuff. :lmao:

Now that's my kinda drink!:woohoo:

Lessee ... what's been going on this week besides overwork for the soulless dominions of finance?

I have a breakfast interview scheduled with the bank that contacted me last week. This is someone who has tried to recruit me a couple of times in the last four years but I was never quite ready to leave my current employer. I'm not tremendously unhappy in my current role but I think this other opportunity may be a chance for me to actually move up - something that is all but impossible where I am now. And if it means I get to have a real voice in the development of credit policy / underwriting / risk management while getting paid some good money while doing it, then I've got to give it serious consideration. It's not often that opportunity knocks ... and in the case of this person, it's the third time he's knocked since late 2004. ;)

Of course, I would have to negotiate ample vacation time so that Jay and I can feed our foodie habit, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Other news ... I had to rearrange our dining schedule for the end of this month when we're taking our staycation. Long story short ... I have to have a follow-up Endoscopic Ultrasound with a side order of needle biopsy. I had one two years ago when my GI found a tumor in the 'ol gut while he was looking for stomach ulcers. They like to make sure the tumor isn't getting bigger (how could it not with the amount of food I've been giving it?) or turning into something that we'd all rather not talk about. It's a submucosal tumor so it's not easy to remove and unless it has to be taken out they're going to leave it alone (that's why I always say I have a parasitic twin in my tummy ... :lmao:).

Was that more than everyone wanted to know? :rotfl2:

I'll go back to food. Today I bought tickets to a special event being hosted by Opera Theater of St. Louis in June. Two hours before their performance of Ghosts of Versailles, they're having a vodka cocktail mixing contest with munchies on the side. For $35 per person you get to sample all the food and booze you want up until the performance and tickets to the opera are included! We're not really opera people (unless no one is singing) but thought this would be a good, relatively affordable, boozy way to give it a try.

Very excited!

So...now we have the real story about the parasitic twin... (but we still haven't figured out the empty leg part...)

There is no empty leg. :lmao:

there were some pictures of Jay and me from a trip a few years back where I was doing my "pretend model" pose so that I would look less ... robust ... in the pictures we were taking and I always ended up with one leg hiding behind the other. It always looked like I only had one leg ... :rotfl2:

I trust that I don't need to explain the "flashin' for freebies" rumors? :lmao:

How are you doing ... better?

Well, considdering I was SUPPOSED to be meeting everyone from the PC repo cruise at WDW this weekend... (my project has been delayed by 2 freaking bank holidays overseas...)

& I had a super big fight with my boss/boyfriend last night

& I'm going through withdrawal because I thought for sure by now I'd be eating dinner at Ghiardelli (I can't do peanut butter so I'm not tempted yet by the No way...)

Hey... I'm fine...
