Allright Friendies, my passport just came in the mail so I made my new countdown ticker :dance3:

Wow, y'all have been a chatty bunch, trying to catch up here!

Anniversary Giftie from Jay's mom ... Pete likes it just fine. The back of it is quilted in dark green, leafy material.

That quilt is absolutely gorgeous, she is very talented!

We're back from our quick Vegas Trip!

Welcome back, sounds like an amazing time!:thumbsup2

So I guess the question is, does anyone eat headcheese? and if yes, why? :confused3;)

It is very popular down here but not with me.:scared:

WooHoo!!!!:cool1:

We're back from our quick Vegas Trip! We stayed at the MGM Grand and enjoyed a very good meal at Fiamma's and a fantastic dinner Nobhill Tavern.
Fiamma's-We ordered from the Spring Tasting Menu-3 courses @ $45. pp
He particularly enjoyed his main course and dessert:
Grilled Skirt Steak, Potato Puree, Spinach, Red Wine Reduction
Tartufo
Dolce di Latte Gelato, Caramelized Hazelnuts, Warm Valrhona Chocolate Sauce (which they poured over at the table)
I had:
The Calamari (absolutely delicious!)
Salmon and the Sorbetti (the mango was especially good) for dessert.

The next night, onto Nobhill. We opted to order off the menu, rather than ordering from the Prix fixe.
For a starter, I had the House-Made Pâté, (what a treat!) he had the Bay Shrimp "Louie".
Main, he enjoyed the San Francisco Cioppino
Shellfish, Tomato-Pepper Broth (This is one of their specialties, and I can see why. It's beautiful, and delicious.) I had one of their daily specials, the shrimp scampi. It was perfectly cooked, and served with pasta and broccoli. Very tasty!
And now, to dessert. I love, love, love rhubarb. I was tickled to see it on the menu, so we decided we had to share the Strawberry & Rhubarb Crisp with Lavender Streusel, Crème Fraîche Sorbet.

It truly was a delight. Very slight hints of lavender, mingling with the strawberry and rhubarb. Yum!!!

Weather was warm and beautiful. And a fun aside--Jimmy Buffet was performing at the MGM Saturday night. Saturday morning the hotel was swamped with Parrothead fans. I haven't seen that many puka bead necklaces in years!!

Yum! Sounds like you had a great trip!

Allright Friendies, my passport just came in the mail so I made my new countdown ticker :dance3:

Congrats on the cruise! :cool1:

I used to have a cassette tape that had a song about head cheese. It went

Head cheese
Yummy head cheese
It's got eyes and ears and nose and lips
And everything I like except the tongue.

Not sure if that came from the same highly talented persons who performed "Fish Heads."

I wanted to share with you all what I did this weekend. Since we are all foodies, you should be able to appreciate this.

I don't know if any of you are familar with the Philadelphia area or not, but I try to get to Philly at least once a month, and one place I usually go to is Reading Terminal Market. (You'd think since it's called Reading Terminal it would be in Reading, which would be awesome, but whatever.)

Anyway, RTM is a huge farmer's market, with lots of speciality stores, and "fast food" restaurants.

I was there yesterday, and bought some stuff, but a lot of the stores are closed on Sunday, otherwise I would've probably ended up spending a lot more.

But I hit up the two cheese shops yesterday, and bought several kinds of cheeses. Nine different ones to be exact. I've only tried two so far, but am tasting four of the others tonight, and will get around to the other three in a day or so.

I bought one blue, three goat cheeses, a cheddar, a gruyere, manchego, and manouri something, I'm not really sure what that is, but it sounded interesting.

I also got a jar of honey, with a big piece of honeycomb in it, and fig preserves, both of which I plan to have with the cheeses. I also got a nice baquette for the cheese as well.

I was definatly in the mood for cheese yesterday.

Seriously, if any of you are ever in Philly you should all stop there. The place is huge, and sells so much more then just cheese. Including a fantastic chocolate shop.

Nine cheeses? I think we must be related! :lmao::goodvibes

He loves new quilts ... they're not officially broken in until they're covered with orange tumbleweeds. :lmao:

disneyfav4ever - I have only been to the Reading Terminal Market one time but WOW it is amazing. I wish we lived closer or I liked my sister in Allentown better because I would go a lot!

Now thats shopping :cloud9: I was there once years back and it was very cool. Unfortunately we don't get to Philly anymore since my Mom and her brother don't talk :sad2:

That sounds really cool and yummy! We don't get up that way much anymore. DH's grandmother & sister still live in Philly but his mom & dad moved down here. Unfortunately we got tired of being the only ones that traveled to visit anyone (apparently traveling & phones only work 1 way :headache:) , so we pretty much stopped :rolleyes1

I am very excited and my kids are very jealous :lmao: I'm staying at AKL for 1 night and going on the 3 nt cruise for "work" :cool1:
I've never been on DCL so if anyone has any tips/recommendations I'd love to hear them :goodvibes

OMG, you will so love it! Will you be sharing a cabin? If so, an over the door shoe hanger (one with clear pockets) is a handy thing to have. You can put in things that would usually clutter up counter tops: sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, any hair/grooming acoutrements, your Key To The World card (room key/charge card)...don't leave the room without it! :lmao:And you can designate some 'pockets' to your cabin mate(s). You will want a lanyard to wear your KTTW card, and yes, they will have DCL ones for sale in the terminal.

Mostly, just have fun (and unless you have to for work purposes, I wouldn't even get off the ship in Nassau, three days just isn't enough time shipboard).

.

I will most likely be sharing a cabin, no idea who I'll be sharing with though :confused3 I also have no idea what category cabin Disney will put us in.

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

I'll also feel better booking clients Disney cruises after having been on one.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Epcot kitchens turn up the heat for a global tasting experience worthy of every palate Sept. 25-Nov. 8 at the 14th annual Epcot International Food &Wine Festival at Walt Disney World Resort. During the six-week, entertainment-packed event, park guests can taste fine cuisine and wines from the top “foodie” cities of the world.
Whether sampling bites of Camarões com Palmito (shrimp with palms) from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, or sipping the trendiest wine from Buenos Aires, Argentina, festival guests can enjoy the flavors of more than 25 international marketplaces dotting the World Showcase promenade. The festival will spotlight tastes from cities on six continents, including Bologna, Italy; Bangkok, Thailand; Wellington, New Zealand; Santiago, Chile; Marrakesh, Morocco; Shanghai, China; and, from the United States – New Orleans.
Tapas-sized portions of regional specialties run $2-to-$7 each, and recommended wines and beers make perfect pairings at each kiosk. Puglia, Italy, returns as a sponsor this year, presenting culinary demonstrations with regional chefs and showcasing “Adventures of Pasta and Olive Oils.” Live regional entertainment is scheduled throughout each day along the promenade.
Daily wine and beer tastings serve up sips from around the world, and culinary demonstrations dish up featured taste treats. A series of special culinary programs features a lineup of renowned winemakers, guest chefs and speakers participating in elegant dinners, luncheons, seminars and wine schools.

Live music kicks the festival up several notches each evening during the Eat to the Beat! concert series featuring acts from many musical genres including classic rock, jazz, R&B, funk and soul. Concerts are performed three times each evening at America Gardens Theatre along the World Showcase lagoon. Scheduled to appear for the first time on the Eat to the Beat! stage are: Richard Marx, Better than Ezra, Vanessa Carlton, John Waite and Billy Ocean. You are welcome for the post! ;)

I don't know if I am an expert - and I know Jason and I tend to have a more rose colored look at it then a lot of F&W people -but as usual it looks good to me! I am happy New Orleans is back! The food was amazing last year!
As for the special events - we will see when they come out but I am just happy to have some news!
