I like the Taco Bell story. DH and I went to KFC one night for them to tell us they ran out of chicken!!! Here's how we reacted to that :scared1::lmao::rotfl2::confused:

how in the name of all that is poultry does KFC run out of chicken? :lmao:

Hubbie and I went to Buger King once and we were told they had no beef. It was during the time when all were worrying about Mad Cow but come on....................it's "BURGER King". :rotfl2:

Not KFC, but Ho Jo's...

My brother's graduating class had to have a night out, so they decided to take up Howard Johnson's all you can eat for $3.99 special...(this was back in the '70's...) They advertised it around the school as all the Legs and Breasts you can get... (and this was a Catholic School... :rotfl2::rotfl2:)

They took over the place with over 100 people... they ran out of chicken... and my brother and his friends made the paper... :thumbsup2

We have a wonderful wine bar here in the 'Burg that has these fancy schmantzy Enomatics for tasting:

Last night younger DD and I went in for their free tastings and then went to the Enomatics for the following:

I tried this inexpensive dolcetto d'alba:

Pretty good!

We also tried the new Orin Swift Zinfandel "Saldo" in it's inaugural release. I liked it better...

But my favorite of the night was this one:

OMG! It was out of this world... and it should be. It was $6 for a 1 oz. tasting in the Enomatics! And looks like it retails for over $75 a bottle. But... oh my. I might consider buying a bottle of it!

Elin, I just doublechecked with Jay to make sure that I didn't halucinate this ... but the Dolphin had machines like that set up in one of their side lobbies. We saw it the night we were there for dinner at Bluezoo. I'm thinking we might have to go over and give it a whirl in October if it's still there.

Do it! It is one of the most enjoyable ways to enjoy wines. Especially ones we might not choose to afford on a regular basis!!

Brenda - I am looking everywhere online to see if I can find anything about the Enomatics at the Dolphin and all I can find is this place I have on my list of 100 places I want to go before I die: http://www.thewineroomonline.com/ Actually, Bob and I have looked into living in Winter Park. This place is just one of the reasons!

We saw the wine room on one of Sam Brown's Orlando getaways ... it looks awesome!

As for those enomatics ... maybe they brought them in for one of the conventions? I don't know if they were a permanent fixture or not but I know we stopped to look at them and ooooh and ahhhhh with the lady who was "overseeing" them.

Maybe they were there for the Food & Wine Festival?

Chelle, sorry to hear about your MIL. Family illness is always a big stressor and hopefully she will be well soon. On the other hand, at least you FOUND somewhere to have brunch on Mother's Day; you'd think I was looking for the Holy Grail around here! :lmao:

I am only stressed about a good thing at the moment (knock on wood). Trying to plan a family get-together for my parents' 50th anniversary next month. It is going to be down homey with a fried chicken lunch and all the trimmings at my parents' house for about 30 people. When all the non-drinkers go home we'll pop open some champagne and beer. :thumbsup2

Here's a food question: Has anyone ever had a sour cream and salsa salad dressing? I bought a packaged salad kit at the store and it had the BEST salad dressing in it! It's Fresh Express brand but I know they don't make it in a bottle. Wonder if we could find a recipe for it? I'm usually an Italian or balsamic dressing person all the way, but this stuff was great.

Thanks for the good wishes. As for brunch, we have a few places but not many. The party for your parents sounds like fun :thumbsup2 The salsa/sour cream dressing sounds good, but I have no idea where you'd get it. I did a google search for "salsa sour cream dressing" and it came back with a few options. Some were just mix salsa with sour cream, some used taco seasoning, all sorts of options :goodvibes

Hugs to everyone and thank goodness it's Friday! :grouphug:

We're having our second batch of severe weather this week and despite what the weatherdudes said this morning, this batch looks way worse than Wednesday night's batch. The satellite is out and we're waiting for the power to go (although we hope it won't).

Tornado watch until 1AM and storm watches until 3AM ... why bother going to bed at all? :confused3 :lmao:

Now I think I will share some randomly amusing things with you all in an attempt to produce a smile ...

1) a few weeks ago on a Friday night I stopped at a local Taco Bell drive through for a fast and unhealthy dinner. I had left work and gone straight to my hairdresser for a cut and a color and a style ... it was close to 8PM and I was hungreeeee. For some reason tacos sounded tasty (for the record I usually eat Taco Bell once a year) and I pulled up to the order box and requested four hard tacos only to be told ...

...

...

I swear I'm not making this up...

"We're out of beef."

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Whhaaaaaaaaat?

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I heroically resisted the urge to ask, "Where's the beef?" and instead asked, "You're out of beef? At 8PM on a Friday night? Is this a joke or am I being filmed for some twisted version of Candid Camera?"

The voice box said, "Huh? We're out of beef do you want chicken?"

I said, "If I wanted chicken I'd pay Colonel Sanders a visit ... I guess I'll go somewhere else."

And the voice box said, "Oh, OK; bye."

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

The best part of this story is that I ended up at Wendy's for dinner ... where they had plenty of beef. :lmao:

2) While driving home from work this evening I was listening to the local oldies station ... they were playing Stayin Alive when the National Weather Service broke in to warn of impending storms and a tornado warning in a neighboring county. Once the message had played twice the song switched back on ... right at the bridge of the tune where the Bee Gees hit that high falsetto AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :lmao::lmao: I had to laugh at the timing because Barry Gibb sounded really frightened by that tornado warning.

:rotfl2:

I hope your storms weren't bad. Thanks for the funny stories, they were just what I needed :laughing:

ever see the David Letterman thing where they put him at a McDonald's drive through and every time someone drove up and ordered a hamburger he'd say "Sorry, we're out of hamburger."

Big fan of Mesa Grill in Vegas. Especially Sunday brunch (not a buffet - menu-based). They also have a price-fix lunch for $30 on weekdays. Have also been to Delmonicos and I don't order steak, but the BBQ salmon was excellent. Red Square had really good calamari, didn't realize that was a Russian thing. And for the fans of Todd English there is Olives at Bellagio.

Almost went to a new place at the Palazzo, called Lavo. Ended up going just for drinks because the drinks were free with tickets to see Jersey Boys. The drinks were very interesting and it's a beautiful place but I wish I knew how the food was. Lavo and the new Mario Batali place at Palazzo (Carnevino) have a price-fix pre theater dinner.

I've got a few pictures to upload ... the wine dinner from Wednesday night and then an unexpected anniversary gift from Jay's parents.

Jay's mom is a quilter extraordinaire and she made us a new quilt for our bed ... in my favorite color (forest green) using toile fabric, which I'm also quite fond of.

It's a big deal for her to make us a quilt ... she spends most of her time making stuff for Jay's sister or for the grandkids so I was actually very touched that she would do something like this for us.

The quilt is really pretty ... I've only got one picture right now - it's almost too big for one person to hold up and I'm not about to take a picture of it on the bed because our bedroom is a mess right now. :rotfl2:

I can't wait to see the pics. I hope you have a pic. of the quilt it sounds very nice.

Anniversary Giftie from Jay's mom ... Pete likes it just fine. The back of it is quilted in dark green, leafy material.

Ain't it pretty?

The quilt is gorgeous!

His mom is really talented in this regard ... she really has an eye for patterns and colors that work well together. She told me how much this quilt appraised for and I nearly passed out. :scared1:

Very nice... so you're not the evil DIL after all?;)
