I tried to warn you that we went nuts on Christmas Day ...
A few family pics ... look at Grimmie smile!
This next picture is pure Grimace. I guess we should just be grateful that she showed up at the house and didn't go to the casino instead.
Can't talk ... scratching
Cranberry sludge courtesy of Jon ... I don't eat this but I've been told it's tasty.
It's pretty ... that's about the best I can say...
Steamed Asparagoose
Corny food porn
My dinner plate ... a little bit of this and a little bit of that
Pretty candles and miniature oil lamps burning brightly for dinner
Fireplace and lanterns provide cozy holiday atmosphere ...
Ooops! I almost forgot our wine choices for the evening:
A Canadian Merlot ... very fruity and light!
Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand ... a little sweeter than we thought it would be
I take comfort from this next picture knowing that although I've put on weight due to forced inactivity Jay and I can still fit comfortably in one over-sized chair.
Ain't we cute?
This next picture requires a little exposition ... I hope you don't mind. After making my eggnog bread I still had a goodly amount of Oberweis eggnog left for consumption. The problem: Jay and I don't like eggnog (too thick and gacky). We decided that some wii bowling was in order before having any dessert and I offered the eggnog to Jon and Dylan, who both like the sludge ... err, stuff.
But then as I looked at it, still settling thickly in the glasses, I was inspired!
"I bet that crap would be pretty tolerable with some whisky mixed in."
And my better, taller half pulled down the bottle of Canadian Mist and the experimental mixology began.
It was fargin good!
So we all went bowling and your friend Bendy beat the men with a lifetime high score of 202! I threw six strikes in a row and it was obviously all due to the improved beverage which I promptly dubbed Power Nog!
Power Nog!!!
Holiday dessert means I must break out the wicked cool reindeer plates and platter that Jay's mom and sister gave me years ago before they really knew what an unassimilating cuss I really am.
Of course my lovey gets the Cupid plate!
And who's a better candidate for the Blitzen plate than yours truly?
And now for dessert .... Gingerbread spice cake, cheesecake ice cream and whipped cream.
It's just right!
Look at what my mother did to my wonderful dessert!
That's disgusting! I used to clean plates like that when I was in high school working at the local nursing home for "retired" nuns. As a side note ... I never did understand how one retires from being a nun. Sometimes I still ponder that when I've had a little too much to drink.
The final joke of the day ... A giant Santa with a steaming bowl of porridge begins a rampage through the Dickens Village.
Watch out for the hot raisins!!!
I hope you enjoyed our Christmas day ... thanks for letting me share! Soon I will share New Year's Eve with you all. And please please please don't hesitate to share your own with everyone here ... that's the best part of being on the community boards with this thread!
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!
