Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

What about making something like Panne Cotta to go along with the fruit? Then you'd have something sort of like a dessert. I'm just partial to panne cotta ... wish I was eating some right now.

Or instead of a strata why not have a cheese board?

I love the cheese board idea. And hmgray95 your menu looks delish! :cool1:

One piece of good news ... small though it may be ...

I got a call from the button place today and they're going to send me a proof tomorrow of what the button will look like and if I approve it I should have all of them by the end of next week.

:cool1::cool1:

I think that's totally terrific news!!! When DH is on vacation, he's on vacation. I'll be he'll wear his at least once. Me? Just try and catch me without it. :rotfl::rotfl:
When you're ready, let me know and I'll zip $ to you.

I asked the guy point blank today about the copyright thing and he was like, "as long as you're not selling them we don't care - it's your button."

Awesome!! You can't see it, but I'm doing a little happy dance in my chair as I type. (Yes, I'm a chronic chair dancer...be afraid). :lmao:

I've been very surprised by the unwillingness of some dealers to strike a deal given the way the industry has been pummeled this year. I'm also annoyed at the lack of financing options.

When we bought my passat in 2003 I financed at 1.9% ... that was on the upside of a recession when Prime was still hovering around 4.00%. So why is it today when the banks and finance companies are borrowing at close to zero they want to charge consumers between 3-5%?

I asked the sales guy at Toyota that question on Saturday and he froze and then said, "I've only been working here for two months ... please don't ask me things like that."

:rotfl2:

OMG...what an answer! Yeah, we went to so many dealerships that we lost count and NONE OF THEM gave a rats backside about making a deal-they all acted like they were doing you a huge favor by selling to you in the first place. We actually walked out of one and when the guy chased us down we told him he obviously didn't need our business. Must be nice when the big boys are in bankruptcy and you can still afford to flip the proverbial bird to customers. With the financing, you'd think they'd all be offering 0% now. I know nothing makes me want to buy a car more than 0% financing. Very strange state of affairs. :confused3

I was thinking of doing cake balls as favors for the guests to take home, and the french toast casserole is very sweet as well, plus the pastries are as well. I was thinking of doing a baked brie, but was afraid it add another sweet thing ...but a cheese board might not be a bad idea.

AND ...

We're taking our oldest niece to see Harry Potter 6 this weekend ... Auntie Crohn turned her onto Harry a couple of years ago and when we hosted our last Harry Potter Book Release party she was there to help us host. And then she stayed up all night with her half-blind auntie reading Deathly Hallows.

Funny though ... I bawled all over the damn thing but she didn't shed a tear.

I am apparently far too sensitive for my own good. :rotfl2:

Deathly Hallows is out in PB now.. so I'm going to go start reading #5 so by the time I travel, I can get 6 & 7 in PB... then sometime over the winter - if I'm snowed in... I'll go read them all again...

Just wanted to mention my dear friend of many years loves her CRV. She has been very happy with it.
Us? We both drive a Ford Focus. We liked the price, love the reliability. A couple of the neighbors, has sort of insinuated we lack imagination. :rotfl:
When they are in the garage they look like twins.

That sounds like DH and I....for years we both drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and still would if my in-laws hadn't given my husband their Suburban when they decided they no longer needed it.

Okay, friendies, I need some feedback. I am throwing a baby shower and am planning my menu. It's going to be at 11 a.m, so I am leaning toward brunch items....tell me what you think of the following:

Caramel French Toast Casserole
Sausage and Tomato Quiche
Three Cheese Quiche
Hashbrown Casserole
Assorted Fruit w/ a fruit dip
Assorted danishes
Croissants w/ jam and butter
Mimosas and coffee

I am debating if I need one more dish....maybe a strata that has some meat in it? Or do I have too many bread intensive dishes already?

That Caramel French Toast Casserole sounds yummy and I'm not even a breakfast person. I think you need meat...maybe some nice fresh ham? I'm a porkaholic so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Pigs squeal in horror when they see me coming. Your menu sounds delicious though...and with mimosas :woohoo: who needs coffee?

Tink rules, I do the same thing....every winter, I read all 7 back to back! And I always find something that I missed before!

I'll be sure to touch base with you and everyone else once I have them - I can mail them out to people or hand them off in October for those friendies I'm going to be lucky enough to see in person.

I was very excited when I got off the phone with them today.

Awesome!! You can't see it, but I'm doing a little happy dance in my chair as I type. (Yes, I'm a chronic chair dancer...be afraid). :lmao:

You don't know how happy I am to know that I'm not the only one. :lmao:

Actually, since I was talking to the company while I was at the office I had to content myself with a low pitched SQUUUEEEEEEEEE!! :rotfl2:

I can only think that many of them are content to sit on their inventory and hope for further US Government Financial Aid courtesy of you and me and everyone else's family.

It is very very bizarre ... and even now with 2010 models coming on the market no one really wants to cut a deal. I usually try to cut through the bull once I find a vehicle I want and tell them "if you can get me in this car for this $$$ then we can ink a deal right now ... and we're not adding on any warranties or other back-end products ... and I work in credit so don't try to tell me that we don't qualify for your highest tier financing program ... and don't tell me you can't get me a decent rate - buy it down or we're going somewhere else."

That's what happens when you start your "career" underwriting consumer car loans for an automotive finance company. Jay told me that I was just scary the last time we bought a car.:rotfl2:

Sliced ham and a cheese board....that's exactly what I am missing! Thanks to all!

I figure that I need the coffee to sober everyone up after the mimosas before driving home.:lmao:

Ham! That's perfect ... yum.

And you could always make some brandy milk punch, but that's pretty potent ... and Jay and I make for the holidays but then we don't like to share it.

Hey Friendies :)
FOOD FRONT: I had the food tasting for our wedding last week..OH MY!!!!! I did take pics so i will be sure to upload them and get them on here...the filet was the star of the show..the chef did a different type of bernaise on the side..tomato based..AMAZING!! The passed appetizers were incredible as well!! The star there was a blue cheese/portobello crostini and the japanese beef tataki on a wonton skin...YUM!! i better be able to eat at my wedding!!!

hope all is well..can't wait to make our ADRs in 11 days!..not that we have decided any yet!!yikes! :scared1:

Ooooh, the wedding food tasting sounds wonderful! I love all the pre-dinner nosh at weddings!

And my good news, waitlist came through for BCV for October 16 - 18 :dance3:  :dance3: Now I just have to book my return airfare (hoping price comes down! )

Wow, I'm shocked that the waitlist came through! Well, maybe not too shocked, since those are weekend points. But still, nice! If you see a fluffy redhead, it's probably me! ;)

Awesome news. I'm glad the button place was cool about it.

Good to know I'm not the only weepy one! I cried over Hedwig ... snuffled about Moody ... seriously bawled over Dobby ... and considered hiring a banshee during Harry's walk through the forest.

I love the whole series and even though I was mad mad mad to always know what was going to happen next I miss the excitement of a new release. It was such an amazing phenomenon to stand in line at a bookstore just to get a line ticket to come back and purchase a book immediately upon release. There were probably about 200 people at our Borders for the release of book 5 ... I'd say it climbed to about 600 by book 6 ... and it was so packed by book 7 that they were turning people away ... line tickets topped 1500 for the evening.

I kind of feel bad for generations to come ... they will read the story and love it, I'm sure, but will never have that same sense of urgency and mystery that we were all so lucky to experience every time a new installment was released.

I'm all nostalgiac tonight ... I wonder what's wrong with me now? :lmao:

I meant to say Heather ... it's too bad you don't live closer - we'd babysit for you!

I never did the book party stuff, because I usually had Amazon deliver to me. The biggest agony for me would make most Disney fans smack me! I was actually jealous of the people who were waiting for Disneyland to open on July 17, 2005....while reading the Half Blood Prince in line! How sad is it when I'm there for Disneyland's actual 50th birthday and get envious because the book was released the previous day, and I wasn't home to read my copy! :rotfl2:

Ooh, when can we come over? I saw the ham and cheese thing won. I would make the Mimosa a Bellini with some peach nectar and Prosecco. Yum!

That is odd. I went into a Honda dealership in January just to look and because I didn't want to buy at the very first place. Well, I swear, they wouldn't let me out of there anymore and just kept offering incentives. I really wanted to look a little more but the salesman kept saying: "Give me a price that would make a sell today." Well, I named a price so low I was sure they would refuse it - leaving me to get out and shop around some more. Well, the guy said: "I have to speak to my manager because that's really much lower than i think we can sell for." My plan backfired because, I couldn't believe when he came back and said they'd do the deal. I had no more fall back position and took the car. It's a Honda Accord and was MUCH bigger than what I'd been driving. Too big really, because now I have al sorts of dents and scratches along the side from trying to park.
Anyway, glad to hear that Hondas are so indestructible.

Yesterday we walked up to Les Chefs de France for lunch :thumbsup2 Had a very long visit with Remy--who loved DS's purple mohawk! Food was very good and DD got to practice speaking French because DH told the waiter to only speak French to her

It was a very hot day, so I tried my 1st Peach Snap at the Joy of Tea stand in China  That really hit the spot! Also enjoyed a couple of Strongbow Ciders (and tried the Woodpecker, but I prefer Strongbow) and of course finished the afternoon/evening at Epcot with a Grand Marinier Slushy :woohoo:

Any idea why I'm not getting much done on the blog? :rotfl2:

Honestly, it's not the booze; it's spending over 12 hours in the parks that's wearing me out. We were at Epcot from 11ish till 8ish and then went to MK till it closed at midnight.

I will try to update the blog later but for now I'm gonna go drink my coffee and relax! :surfweb:

Doesn't have to be sweet! One of my favorites is brie, topped with garlic and fresh herbs, wrapped in puff pastry and served with sliced Granny Smiths and pecans! Easy and savory.

Chelle - Sounds like a great vacation! Enjoy!

I was shocked too! I was checking my waitlist for our Labor Day weekend trip at BLT and noticed the change :cheer2: I'm a redhead too, I'll keep a lookout!

:dance3::dance3::dance3: on the buttons!

I'm not going to make any ADR's since I've only got 2 nights but I might try one of the F&W offerings. Now where can I find that tenative list thats out there?

I'm making a note of this. That sounds divine! :thumbsup2

Wine and Water

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine..and those who don't.

As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
in beer there is freedom,
in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,
scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli,
(E. coli) - bacteria; found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when
drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whisky or other liquor), because alcohol has to go through a purification
process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
than to drink water and be full of crap.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:
I'm doing it as a public service
