We were at the Beirgarten last week. I like doing the earliest available lunch. This way the kids have just finished eating when the show starts. It was myself, DH, my parents, my Two DD's 9 and 8 and two neices 9 and 6 and one nephew 7. My sister and BIL went to Tangerine's.:offtopic: My sister worked he way through college at a Middle Eastern restaurant and raves about it there.

We go to Beirgarten almost every trip and this was my least favorite food spot but it has since moved up in my rankings. :thumbsup2 I think I tried absolutely everything except some of the cold salads. I don't eat beet salad or bean salad ever! This also had one of the worst set ups for a buffet. Two tight U's that end in the Roast station and desserts. It is narrower than CP, darker and has stairs. Tables come close to the buffet line and there isn't much room to move. Unlike Boma and Chef Mickey, you have to do the line for just about everything and the desserts are in the middle. You don't have to go through the line for them but it has a lot of traffic.

I always get the beer sampler and one of them was flat, sorry I don't remember which beer other than it was one of the two lighter ones. All of them had excellent flavor. I'd highly reccomend it.

This is probably going to get me flamed but the pretzel bread was AS GOOD if not better than Le Cellier (which went down in the rankings BTW).

My grandmother was German and an excellent cook so I have pretty high standards. The regular spaetzle was just OK a little dry for me and I really liked both the brown sauces and the red wine sauce. But the spaetzle with cheese (which I had never had before) was excellent. The Pork Schintzel blew me away it was so good!! I had at LEAST 4 pieces. Usually it is pretty tough and dry but this time it wasn't overcooked and didn't taste like it had been warming and drying out all day. It was very tender.

I had the cold meatball which was odd but the warm one tasted better. The braised red cabbage was spot on. The veal loaf tasted like meat loaf but that is the way it is supposed to taste as I pointed out to my DH and the roast pork was perfect. The red wine sauce and the Hunter sauce tasted excellent on it.

The potato leek soup was much better than Boma's potato soup. My father tried a spoonful of mine then sent me up to get a cup for him too. Sure make ME dodge the traffic.

Everyone MUST try the German Potato salad!!! You have to know it is warm and made with bacon and vinegar not mayo. Again, I went back twice for this. I had low expectations on this, I'd had it before, so I had put just a small taste on my plate (I do this for everything - I always do a sampler plate then go back for the things that I like) so I went back and put a nice pile on my plate. Yummy!

I will tell you I'm not a dessert person. I never order it out and usually pass on it but the Apple Strudel and the cheesecake looked good so I gave it a whirl. Both of them were terrific, I ended up finishing both which never happens. If you've had the lemon cake at the Olive Garden that is very much like the cheesecake. The strudel was made with fresh apples and nice and crisp.

The show is such fun. It is actually better later in the day when it is more crowded and people get more into it, or maybe more into their beer glasses :lmao: If you get more people particularly adults on the dance floor it has much more energy. I've sat on all of the levels all over the restaurant believe me you can see the show from everywhere. If you don't like sitting with other people this isn't the spot for you. You might end up with some chatty person like myself or my Dad next to you. Thank you to the nice Honeymoomers who sat next to us a couple of years ago. You were good sports with my Dad. The bride danced with him. It was fun, my Dad can polka.

I'm almost afraid to post this review. I don't want the hype to kill it like I think it did to Le Cellier plus I don't want to dissappoint anyone. It wasn't always this good. It could have had a just had a "good" day but maybe not. My Dad (no surprise) grabbed the manager on the way out to say how much better the food was and we laughed because he said. "They finally sent us a German chef! He's new."

So if you haven't been in awhile it has gotten much better.

We ate there last week and everyone enjoyed it - wish I was there right now in fact yum!

I gotta say I've always loved the Biergarten even if the food was "so-so" - I just like the atmosphere.

I was surprised that ALL of the chefs I've ever met from there were not German (my younger son has several dietary issues so I always meet with a chef when seated and we eat there every trip).

I will especially look forward to my ADR there over spring break!:thumbsup2

I agree with you, I wish I were there as well. The last time I ate there was October 2006. I have to wait another 368 days until I get some of that wonderful Apple Strudel.

Hi
Thanks for your review!! My DH and I ate here for the first time 2 weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. I don't eat meat, but still found enough to eat. The bavarian cheesecake was so delicious and I put the cold berry fruit compote on top. We sat at a table with a really nice family.

Thanks for the review! We have been thinking about going there in February! It sounds like we need to give it a try!!!

I REALLY did not want to go, just did not enjoy it last time and we always get the worst seats in the house - and last time the service was horrible too, plus the food was mediocre - this time all was great - loved all of the food - totally agree on the schnitzel. It's back on our list...

Thanks for the review! My husband will be so glad to hear this. We've eaten there a couple of times before, but I refused to go back because I just didn't think it was worth it. I just thought the food needed to be better, so this is definitely good news. I think my husband mostly likes it for the beer though :rotfl: -- go figure!

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

Thanks for the review! We have never eaten there in 10 yrs worth of visits and had just decided to try it for our upcoming trip. Hubby and I both have German ancestors and we have a German last name. I remember my Mom-Mom making warm German potato salad...gosh, I haven't had it in years. I saw some interior pics and it looks like such a fun atmosphere!
PS- I'm not very good... but I'd polka with your dad!:thumbsup2 Well maybe after a few beers, my dancing will improve!

This is a must do for our family including my Direct from Germany parents. They say it's more German then Germany is right now, lol! Considering it's a buffet in the middle of a theme park it's pretty good. The atmosphere is right on! Of all the places I have recommended to friends to eat at, this one gets the most raves.

We've gone to the Beirgarten almost every visit! Lunch or Dinner.
We try to plan it in the mid afternoon and make it our meal for the
day. The music and dancing is great and the company we have
at our tables has always been enjoyable. If you have little one's
its nice because they encourage them to come out and dance to
the music. It is defenitely a must-do!

Thanks for the reviews! I am still tring to decide if we should go here or not- but all the good reviews certainly help!!!
Are the dancers out the entire time of lunch and dinner? Or just dinner? One place I read it was just dinner, but here it sounds like lunch and dinner. My DH likes beer- big shocker huh? and we love food from other countries!
Are there a lot of "kid friendly" foods?

I just asked my DD's what they ate and they said "Mac and Cheese, pizza, German Hot dogs and Pretzel bread."

The dancer's are not out there the entire time. The show has a set schedule but I'm reasonably certain that it is frequent enough that every diner is there during part of the show. I try to schedule my visit 1/2 - 1 hour before the show starts so we are pretty close to being done eating when it starts.

Let us know if it is still good.

Here is Steve Soares site he updates it weekly and although it may change a bit by the time you are there, the show is pretty consistant
