This seems like the right place to ask this-so hopefully some of you more experienced runners can help me.

I recently started doing a jog/walk program. I'm walking 3.8 mph for 3 minutes and jogging at 5.0 mph for 2 minutes-for a total of 30 minutes. My goal is to get up to jogging for the whole 30 minutes. I did my jog/walk thing on Monday and Wednesday, then swam on Thursday and Friday. The inside of my lower legs hurt like crazy-walking downstairs especially stung, so I didn't go on Saturday or Sunday. I went and did the exercise today anyway and they did hurt when I started but the pain stopped. Now they don't hurt at all! Is this one of those things where rest isn't the best thing??

I find that a lot of times with running (and other exercises) it's a case of muscle memory. Your muscles are getting used to running and I think that's probably why you're not as sore today. As you run more you might find yourself getting sore again but the more you run the more your muscles will adapt to the motion and strengthen.
That said, I think that it's a good thing that you took a couple of days off before you ran again. It's good to listen to your body.;)
