We have been members since 1998 and what a difference it has made in our lives. We get to take great vacations every year and are also able to bring friends and other family members. This has been one of the best financial decisions we have made. How often did you vacation before DVC?

Hi Patty3,

We joined in 2001 but should have joined sooner. We have been vacationing in WDW since 1994 (my DD was 2). My DH & I have always made a point to take a family vacation. Cottages in NH & Maine, Virginia Beach...ect

We will be in your fine state on Sunday!

I love my DVC! Best investment we ever made. I love sharing it with family & friends too. The look on their faces is priceless. It's also wonderful to know you will be using it for many years!

Enjoy,
Lisa

We joined DVC in '94. Prior to that, we took vacations, but they weren't the fun kind ... more educational and relaxing in nature. Back in '94, the front part of EPCOT seemed to be more educational and we were betting on the trend, so we bought in. DS did school reports on the world showcase and, even though we pulled him out of school for WDW, teachers always had him keep a journal to keep writing skills up and for math he had to keep track of spending (including tips). Must have worked, he's at University of Michigan!

We have been going down to WDW since 73, we made it an almost yearly thing! We joined DVC in 91 and have been going at least twice a year! Now that we are retired we will be spending the winters in FL. so we plan on spending 20 to 25 days at DVC during the winter, just added on 150 points at OKW! We are both very excited about this, don't want to wish the summer away, but I can hardly wait for December!!!!

While I was in college, we made a trip down to WDW in 1990. This was the first time for my boyfriend (now DH) and my family. Then the family and soon to be DH would go down every year following - 1991 Y/B - 1992 - Y/B. In Jan 1992, that was when we went on the tour. You figure - when we went down in 1991 and 1992 - for the Y/B for four people (including airfare) was $2500.00. We were also offered the tickets until 1999 - so of course we were sold.

Thank god - now our DD's (8) and (6) are just as much WDW as we are.

I take vacations in Maine at the beach almost every year. I'm lucky that there are very beautiful areas within driving range to visit in the summer. Many day trip options near by in Southern NH.

My 1st trip to Disney was in 1993. Took my Mom and we had a blast. We stayed at Port Orleans (now known as Port Orleans French Quarter). That trip we did Disney, Seaworld, Cyprus Gardens and Busch Gardens. Even though Mom was 68, she was game for it all. We even did a day trip to her cousin's home down by Tampa Bay. I think we were there for ten days. At that time I figured that would be the one and only trip to Fl. ;)

Then it all started; went back in 1996 with Mom, 1997 was invited by friends for their Anniversary. They were at OKW and another friend and I stayed at the Poly. Skipped 1998, bad year.

Have been going every year since 1999 with another Disneyholic. I knew about DVC from the 1997 trip because the friends staying at OKW had points there and had a GV that trip. We checked it out and it was beautiful.

I finally took the plunge last year. Sometimes it takes awhile to recognize that this annual trip to Disney is something that I would not want to skip. I am like many others and wish I had done this sooner. Especially when BWV opened up. That would have been ideal.

I look at this as a pre-retirement gift to me. It's all paid for and when I do retire in about 15 years I know that I will have a nice vacation every winter to look forward to.

We vacation about the same as we always have. We used to stay at the Disney Inn every year then went and tried some of the moderates when it closed renting two rooms. OKW was a natural for us. We do go to WDW more now that we are members. As for our other vacations we still get away a lot, going on trips has always been our thing. Skiing interests have changed to gambling interests in our later years. In a 5 month period we plan on being away from home for 75 days on two long trips. The second trip is to WDW for 3 weeks and some other spot in Florida for another week or so.

We used to go to WDW every other year. After joining DVC in '97, we have gone at least once and often 2-3 times a year. We have also exchanged to Hawaii once, and usually treat friends to our trips at least once a year. We too feel it is one of the best investments in time we have made.

We spent our summers treking the southern states and camping in a tent. We bought a pop up in 1998, so we graduated to camping with A/C thank goodness. We still took short trips to the beach, mountains at some nice Resorts but our trips were short.
We have always stayed at Disney with Fl Residents discounts just for 3 or 4 nights.
NOW however we are enjoying the slendor of the DVC. What a way to graduate our vacations!!!
