When we went back Tim and Luke headed down to the pool and I tried to get Lauren to nap. Well, that didnt work so we went down to meet them at the pool. As soon as we got down there and she got into the water with them it started to thunderstorm and they shut down the pool. We headed to Mara to grab Mickey ice cream bars as snack credits for the kids to eat upstairs on the balcony. Now you have to picture- Tim and I looked skuzzy at this point. I had my hair slicked back from being in a visor no visor on now at this point) and I was so hot and sweaty from the morning- barely a stitch of make up on, etc. Tim had his swimsuit on and wasnt feeling good about his weight at that point and as were waiting for the elevator a couple behind us says I know who you are!?! and I said you do? and he said YEAH, Youre timandlesley from Disboards. Im tellin ya, I felt so embarrassed meeting someone in the condition I was in, and Tim felt embarrassed because the guy said that he had private messaged Tim for his weight loss tips last year. Tim said yeah, weightloss for me has sure been a journey, Ive lost it, found it again, lost it, and now it seems Ive found it again. They were super nice and had just arrived at AKL, I wish I had written their screennames down but it was something to do with zebradomes, so HELLO! Sorry we were so skuzzy when we ran into you : )
Here is a VERY messy Lauren after devouring her quickly melting Mickey Mouse ice cream bar on the balcony:
Man, whose child IS THAT!?!?! ; )
Well, the kids told us they wanted to go into child care that night, so Tim and I JUMPED on that and Tim literally ran downstairs to Jiko to see if we could get in. He got reservations for ½ an hour from then so I jumped in the shower and got ready as quickly as humanly possible. Here we are all cleaned up and ready for a nice meal out together:
We took the kids to Simbas Clubhouse and were excited to see there were lots of boys in there Lukes age and a few girls Laurens age so we knew they would be happy/entertained.
Jiko was BEAUTIFUL. I tried to take some pictures of it but just couldnt get good angles:
This wall kept changing colors to reflect the African sunset, GORGEOUS!
Happy Tim at dinner (KID FREE!)
A VERY happy Lesley at dinner WITH a glass of wine AND no kids:
Modeling the menu for you:
Even the napkins were monogrammed:
Our waitress was awesome and very helpful with recommendations. She brought out some yummy bread with a unique butter spread which we loved.
We decided to order two appetizers based on her recommendations that we could share. One was a flatbread which was DELICIOUS:
Then an African Springroll that was on the menu, YUMMY!!!!
We both ordered the filet and it was out of this world!
Then it was time for desert. I ordered the chocolate truffle cake:
Tim ordered the carrot cake:
Such awesome presentation!!!! Then Tim ordered a cup of coffee, I know were stupid but we thought this was fancy :
They even had brown sugar cubes ; ) I swear, its the little things that impress us : )
Well after an INCREDIBLE meal our goal was to head to a park for a little bit. We were thinking Hollywood Studios for some Rockin Roller Coaster action. We headed up to the room to change and I wanted to put my hair up. On the way up to the room we took this beautiful pictures:
Self portrait of us on the bridge:
Well, we got changed and then looked outside and it was POURING down rain. We decided we didnt want to waste our childcare money on a rainy night so we headed down to Simbas to grab the kids. Well, the kids were having SO much fun with their new friends that they BEGGED to stay longer. We told them ½ hour longer and we headed to the bar for a drink (they really had to twist our arms : )
I had a fusion lemonade, YUMMY!!!
Heres Tim with his cocktail:
And him trying to look sophisticated (I guess : ) with his martini:
After our drinks and more peace and quiet (that was just so nice) we headed back down to Simbas Clubhouse to get the kids. We took them up to the gift shop to shop around a bit. WHO KNOWS what Tim is doing in this photo:
The rain had let up temporarily so we went outside to spot some animals:
The giraffes are SO cool!!! That is another reason I just love this resort, at what other resort can you walk outside and be greeted by wildlife, AMAZING!
We then went down to Mara to grab some snacks for the evening (Luke said he was starving, didnt get much to eat in Simbas)
CONTINUED IN NEXT POST!
