Been saving loose change, wrap or coinstar?

If that's not possible try to take all your quarters and higher out of your jar and just use coinstar for pennies, nickels and dimes. You might even pull out the dimes. You'll reduce the fee dramatically without adding that much work.

This is what we do -I don't mind doing the silver coins myself, but those pennies are a pain. I bring them to our local coinstar, which only charges 7 cents per dollar. I was surprised to read they charge 15 cents in other places.

I don't think we have any local banks that will count the coins for you. But when I do bring the rolls in, I have never been asked to write any contact info on the roll. I guess different policies for different banks and areas.

I bought my little kit in the office supply section at Wal-Mart. It isn't battery powered, just kid shaking powered! Some wrappers came in the kit but I bought an extra bag of wrappers and they fit just perfectly with the tubes. It was opposite the printer paper, if all are arranged similarly.

Thanks for posting that picture WILLCAD! I have one of those and totally forgot about it! IIRC, I purchased it at Wal-Mart about 10 years ago. Around that time, I used to let my change can grow to larger sums before I would wrap and deposit them and this came in handy. Lately, I just wrap when I get enough for a roll, then deposit the money into my ING account, so I think I will just start putting the coins in this and end the hand counting.

Well, I guess I'm weird, but I *love* rolling change. It thrills me to see it add up, and I cash it in every month (our TCF Bank has a free counting machine, as does our credit union) so it never accumulates to an unmanageable quantity of coins.
