I was wondering if i am able to pack single packages of beef jerky in my luggage? I am going to orlando and am from alberta
Thanks

Luggage is fine (has to be sealed)...carry on (open) ..no. The folks at the Westjet check in reaped the beef jerky rewards of my mistake lol:goodvibes

As long as it is commercially packaged, no problem. It will pass US Customs, and I have found no restrictions on carriers. I am not sure why previous poster would have had it confiscated by Westjet - the airline doesn't generally check your carryon - that is the domain of security and customs.

My DS has a severe food allergy, and Jerky is one of the snacks he can eat. There is nothing that airlines offer on their menus that he can safely consume. So we did our homework before travelling. Although there are restrictions on meat products crossing the border, commercially processed and packaged meats are allowed (confirmed with US Customs). We do carry unopened packages until after boarding. There are no known restrictions on carrying your own snacks on board in any IATA regulations that I could find, the only regulations are Customs.

I suppose that AMOUNT could also make a difference. Are you taking a quantity that could make you appear like you are importing rather than bringing in for personal use?

thanks everyone. I never thought about it at all until i read no meat products lol so i thought i should double check

If you are flying AC, you can just tuck it under your veil. Apparently no one will check... :rotfl:

Make sure you check the CATSA, TSA, and airline sites just before you go. Restrictions do change. Due to various diseases there have been periods when no meat, open or sealed, was allowed.

Our beef jerkey was confiscated when we drove to the US last summer the border agent said "no meat products" (it was an unopened commercial product), so i would think that you couldn't take it by air either.
